Editor's Notes
Not being able to see the wood for the trees. There’s lots of information our there from many various sources which is only likely to increase with the increase of grey literature and the interactions/information produced from social media sites such as twitter etc. If you only take 1 thing away from this presentations remember to “Ask a librarian” we have an email address, a twitter and facebook account and a Netvibes page! I’m quicker and cheaper! Use a couple of different scenarios, a consultant, a researcher, a nurse. A consultant could spend hours of valuable time and find nothing. A librarian on the other had has been trained to search for information and is able to use keywords effectively (using the right resource) and efficiently (within 2 days we can produce a list of references). NHS Evidence, Our Journals, Interlibrary Loans Access might be available but it certainly isn't always free! All library staff are information professionals, we are trained to track down information from a variety of sources, sourcing the best possible information for you. It doesn’t matter how many times you request information we will always aim to get it within 5 days or less. The service is free of charge, the more you ask the longer it takes to input into our information system. Article requests arrive by email will be sent to you directly.
