Installing Write-N-Cite:
If you are using UEF computer, install Write-N-Cite from Software Center.
If you are using KUH (KYS) computer, make a request to Istekki to install Write-N-Cite on your computer.
If you are using home computer, install Write-N-Cite following the instruction below.
WRITE-N-CITE QUICK QUIDE
After installing Write-N-Cite, the RefWorks tab appears in
Microsoft Word.
Log in to RefWorks by using your RefWorks username and password. When using Write-N-Cite for
the first time you must be connected to the internet in order to log in and sync your RefWorks
database with Write-N-Cite. After logging in Write-N-Cite will automatically sync your database.
Later on, any time you add new references to RefWorks or make changes to existing ones click
Sync my Database.

Close Word, if it is running. From your RefWorks page, go
to the "Tools" menu. Scroll down to "Cite in Microsoft
Word".
Choose the version you need. Then click “Download &
install”.

2. Once the Insert/Edit
Citation box opens, you
can access your reference
folders.
1. The citation will be inserted to the point of the cursor in the document. Click the Insert
Citation drop-down menu and select Insert New. This opens the Insert/Edit Citation box.
INSERTING CITATIONS
TO INSERT ADDITIONAL REFERENCES:
1. To insert another citation at the same point
in your text, click the + button.
2. A New Reference row will appear. Select
the reference from your list and then click
OK.
3. Click the reference you
wish to insert. You will
see a preview of the
formatted citation in
your current output
style.
4. To add citation, click OK.
CHOOSING CITATION STYLE
Select the style from the Style drop-down menu. You
will see a list of RefWorks’ popular styles. Click Select
Other Style at the bottom of the list to see more
options.
If you cannot find the style you need in the Other
styles list, login to your RefWorks account and
activate the style:
1. Select Create bibliography and Citation
Style Editor. Search the style needed, click
to open it and Save a copy of it. The style
is now activated.
2. In Word, click Sync my Database button.
The style will now appear in this list.

After finishing your work:
In some cases, it may be necessary to
create another version of your document
and remove the Write-N-Cite field codes.
NOTE! You cannot undo this function and
you need a backup if you wish to edit your
text later (e.g. add citations).
1. Create a backup. Save the
document using a different file
name.
2. Then select Remove Field Codes.
This function will remove all field
codes. Now it’s possible to edit
citations and bibliography only in
Word plain text.

EDITING THE FINAL WORK
In Word double click the
citation you wish to edit.
Insert/Edit Citation box opens.
Deleting one reference from citation with multiple references:
1. Double-click the citation you wish to edit.
2. Go to Compose Citation box and select the reference you wish
to remove. After activating the reference, click -button.
3. Click OK.
EDITING CITATIONS
1. Move your cursor to the point you wish to add
the bibliography.
2. Click Bibliography Options - Insert
Bibliography.
DELETING CITATIONS
Deleting the whole citation:
Delete the citation in the same
way as if you were deleting
text in Word.
