  16. 16. A- Inability of the Education system in building bridges of unity and peace
  17. 17. Education is the core of fundamental social change in our world. Today's education is transfer of knowledge from the notebooks of the teacher to the notebooks of the students. Inability of the education system to unite the world and promote peace makes it inefficient to influence and shape society that values social justice, respect for others and a belief in the dignity and rights of every human life.
  18. 18. Through education we focus on the following points:  Foster a culture of peace through education.  Promote respect for all human rights.  Advanced understanding, tolerance and solidarity.  Support participatory and the free follow of information and knowledge through INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY.  Transform both individual lives and society into self motivating agents of social change.
  19. 19. “ Education is the manifestation of the perfection already in man.” - Swami Vivekananda  It is only through our concentration on children’s EDUCATION that we can meet the challenge of increasing trends of terrorism, violence, wars and insecurity.  There is a need to create the consciousness of world peace and foster friendship and harmony among all people.  The inner peace that dwells in the heart of all human beings need to be awaken.  The content of education of a young child greatly determines his mindset and ultimately his future success.

  28. 28. STRATEGY-I “Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lightning of a fire.” - William Butler Yeats  True education should be of three kinds:  Material  Human  Divine The four building blocks of meaningful education:  Universal Values  Global Understanding  Excellence in all things  Service to the world
  29. 29. STRATEGY-II Such activities aim towards building bridges of unity and constructing the defences of peace in the minds of the students and also the public at large. SGA CISV CAMPS (Develops cross-culture interaction) Global Voting (Develops concern about the rights of children and a sense of responsibility for the global community) Mock World Parliaments (Develops the global understanding)
  30. 30. World Unity and Peace Seminars (Develops concern for world peace amongst public) World Peace Prayer (promotes world peace) Divine Education Seminars (creates awareness in parents about meaningful education) International Children’s Events (creates a new mindset and feelings of love and understanding towards all the people of the world) SQCC (Inculcates quality among students and helps in developing as Total Quality Person (TQP))
  31. 31. STRATEGY-III In keeping with the requirement of the times, consideration should be given to teaching the concept of world citizenship as a part of the standard education of every child.
  32. 32. WHY THE CONCEPT OF WORLD CITIZEN IS IMPORTANT ? • • • • • Releases enormous financial, technical, human and moral resources. Practical strategy for sustainable development. Develops global vision to become conscious citizens of the country and the world. Promotes human honour and dignity, cooperation and the desire to serve. Breaks the barriers between people and opens up the possibilities for global co-operation.
  33. 33. STRATEGY-IV Technology may be used mainly to make global education available to all people. The Internet and computers are offering an opportunity for continuous learning and creative commandment ; mainly huge bodies of knowledge assemble individually and globally. Individuals, communicate closely with all peace organizations and peace workers to facilitate the forming of united world wide network to bring about the establishment of world peace.
  34. 34. STRATEGY-V parents to provide their children a comprehensive education building their intellectual, physical, social, and spiritual growth with a global outlook. They will realize that education is not merely book learning, it is the whole process of rejuvenating the mind and developing values like honesty, sincerity, truthfulness etc. They will understand the aim of meaningful education which is redemption of mankind from  its Godlessness  its Ignorance  its confusion and  its conflict Guide and motivate
  35. 35. STRATEGY-VI “School must be a lighthouse of society” Debates and CSP’s on World peace should provide guidance and direction to students, parents and society. Active participation of individuals from the society in these seminars will create a sense of responsibility and concern for world unity and peace. Promote a change in thinking, a change in the system of values. World Peace Prayer in seminars and conferences will help to build a culture for world peace.
  36. 36. STRATEGY-VII “In order to unite the world we must give up our prejudices, our own small, trivial notions; an open receptive mind is essential” Removal of prejudices is necessary to  Establish respect for other religions.  Accept that others have different beliefs.  Develop respect of secularism.  Understand cultural differences.  Appreciate unity in diversity.
  37. 37. STRATEGY-VIII  Priority should be given to moral education over physical and intellectual education.  It should therefore be universally proclaimed, taught in the school, and constantly asserted in every nation as preparation for the organic change in the structure of society, which it implies.  It will inculcate the necessary qualities like honesty, universal brotherhood, hard-work, that are extolled in all religions.  More than bookish knowledge, practical knowledge on basic human values alone can shape our students into a global citizen in the of the world.
  38. 38. STRATEGY-IX  Schools should educate every child to become good and smart and rich in moral values that make a ‘Total Quality Person’ (TQP).  Initiating the TQP concept in education inculcates quality awareness in students and they become self-motivated agents of social transformation.  Children will develop analytical abilities, confidence in oneself, willpower and goal setting competency, serving the best interests of the community.
