  3. 3. EQ Basin 101 <ul><li>60-million gallon equalization basin is required under consent decree. </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Still discussing smaller basin with EPA. </li></ul></ul>

EQ Basin 101 <ul><li>Designed to reduce need to discharge raw sewage into the Maumee River during heavy rains. </li></ul><ul><li>Will hold wastewater at “peak” times when flow of waste exceeds plant’s capacity. </li></ul><ul><li>When the rain lets up, wastewater in the basin sent to plant for treatment. </li></ul>

EQ Basin 101 <ul><li>Basin basically a large holding facility </li></ul><ul><li>400,000 square feet (about the size 7 football fields). </li></ul><ul><li>Under EPA agreement, design of the equalization basin must be completed by December of 2004. </li></ul><ul><li>Construction would not start until spring 2005. </li></ul>
