Planning The Front Cover

 1. 1. Planning the front cover Hamish Mullen
 2. 2. Fonts

To begin designing my school magazine cover, I decided to start by looking at different fonts that were available, and chose one of them.

Font 1 Font 2 Font 3 Font 4 Across the school Across the school Across the school Across the school I decided to with “ Across the school ” as it received the most votes by my peers.
 3. 3. Background colours

Next, I had to choose a background that would make my font stand out as good as possible. For this, I decided to use various backgrounds, putting my font on each one. I decided to go with the light blue as it stood out from the background image.

 4. 4. Main Image

I then had to take and choose a main image that I would use for the cover of my magazine. This was a difficult task due to the volume of pictures that I took, and choosing a particular one was impossible. So, I narrowed it down to a few that had good lighting, and a removable background, I then asked my peers to choose one. I chose the top left as my main article was about the school gaining a new ‘technology’ status.

 5. 5. Background image

I then had to choose an image to use for my background, as a solid colour would look cheap. This was easy to do as it only had to be a school related picture, which I was able to easily take from my own school.
