• Organizes a biennial scientific meetings in Greece
• Actively participates in the biennial FENS forum
• Organizes science communication events during the Brain
Awareness Week each year

• HSfN and its members have been organizing
brain awareness events at least since 2009
• At the FENS meeting in Milan, HSfN received
the FENS-DANA brain awareness event
award
• HSfN members organize events in several
cities around Greece (Athens, Thessaloniki,
Patras, Ioannina, Heraklio) but also smaller
towns and islands.

October 4-6, 2019
• Was attended by over 300 students and
researchers
• Plenary speakers included Carmen Sandi,
EPFL-Switzerland and current FENS president,
Eero Castren, University of Helsinki and current
FENS general secretary, Rosa Cossart, INMED-
INSERM-France, Julie Bakker, University of
Liege-Belgium and Gregoire Courtine, EPFL,
Switzerland
• 11 symposia with 41 speakers
• 10 junior scientist talks selected from submitted
abstracts
• 110 poster presentations
