  1. 1. Common Name :Novaluron 10% EC Chemical Group :Benzoyl Phenyl Urea (BPU) Mode of Action :Chitin Synthesis Inhibitor (CSI)  :Insect Growth Regulator (IGR) Moulting :Process of shedding of old skin (cuticle) in immature stages at intervals Cuticle :made of chitin (structural component) which gives hardening effect to larvae Moulting is important for growth & development
  2. 2.  Romeo is a host-specific insect growth regulator and chitin synthesis inhibitor  IGR are comparatively safer to beneficial insects and environment and are compatible for use in an integrated pest management system.  Romeo affects only at the larval stages while the adults are seldom damaged.  Research says Romeo efficiently controls Lepidopterans, Coleopterans and Homopterans by both ingestion and contact activity.
  3. 3. Interfere with chitin synthesis in larval stages Stomach poison with low contact activity - Larvae have to feed treated plant parts Arrest feeding :2-3 hours after feeding Mortality :2-3 days Latent effects : Deformed pupae Deformed adults Larval-pupal intermediate Pupal-adult intermediate.

  5. 5.  Life cycle 25 – 30 days.  depending on weather, with a range of about 17 to 51 days.  Damage:-  Plant damage is caused by larval feeding.  the larvae are very small, they can be quite numerous, resulting in complete removal of foliar tissue except for the leaf veins.  This is particularly damaging to seedlings, and may disrupt head formation in cabbage, broccoli, and cauliflower. Major Pest:-Diamond Back Moth
  6. 6.  It is a major pest of tomato widely distributed in tropics, subtropics and warmer temperate regions of the world.  Eggs are laid singly, generally on leaves and flowers in the upper canopy of the plant.  A female lays approximately 500 eggs, on hatching the young caterpillars feed on tender foliage, advance stage caterpillars attack the fruits.  One caterpillar is capable of destroying 2-8 fruits.
