MULADHAR/ROOT CHAKRA
 Age Womb to 12 Months
 Element Earth
 Planet Mars
 Location Base of Spine
 Task Physical growth, Motor
development, Bonding
 Needs/Issues Trust, Nourishment,
Safety, Right to be here.
 Colour Red
A GAME OF PRETEND
 Infant who has just left the dark womb.
 Several months you can’t do anything for self.
 Trust or mistrust is basic element .
 If you are confident that world is friendly place, you
have the sense that you will live.
 Feeding , holding , warmth , physical comfort must
come from outside.
 Here the nervous system respond instinctually.
 Signals come from inside your body like hunger, cold,
discomfort etc.
 Means of communication is crying.
ENVIRONMENT AND SELF
 For fetus, uterus is the first experience of body, first home.
 Mother’s nutritional balance and her emotional state plays a
role in the child’s personal ground.
 Mother is tense, afraid, uses tobacco, alcohol the child uses
them too.
 If the mother is warm and attentive the child is happy.
 Child knows that crying will quench its hunger.
 If the child is unable to get her need met then there is
mistrust.
 Development centers around learning to operate the body
like sucking, creep, crawl, grasp, roll over.
 At six months changes take place, child sits up.
 Other 1st chakra development continue.
TRAUMAS
 Anything like birth trauma, abandonment, neglect, illness,
poverty, malnourishment or physical abuse impacts 1st chakra.
 Facing danger the current downward energy is blocked and the
life force moves upwards, after a while it becomes habitual,
depleting lower chakras thus imbalance.
 Traumas can be birth, abandonment.
 Separation from mother after birth like spanked, incubator,
mother dies in child birth, mother in one place child in different
place.
 Being abandonment for above reasons or different.
 This child may have the tendency to leave the task in half or
after slight interruption.
NEGLECT/FEEDING DIFFICULTIES
 Neglect affects the chakras basic job of stabilizing the entire
system. It may also result in shame, which impacts the 3rd &
4th chakra as well.
 Like abandonment neglect is often echoed in the way we
treat ourselves.
 Malnourishment or hostile eating situation (dad is angry and
shouts when eating) affects our ability to nourish ourselves.
 Female child not given food before male child.
 Some children are overfed and other live in constant hunger.
 This results in food allergies, avoidance or addiction to food.
 Nourishment comes not only in food but also as friends,
intellectual and creative stimulation.
PHYSICAL ABUSE/ILLNESS
 It causes pain and teaches children to dissociate from their
bodily sensations.
 This results in difficulties in 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th chakras as well.
 There is constant fear.
 Illness, surgeries, accidents also impact the chakras.
 Car accidents leave a deep mark on the mind.
INHERITED TRAUMA/BOUNDARIES
 It is possible to inherit 1st chakra issues from our parents
without any direct abuse.
 Eg., X was born 2 yrs after his sister died in crib. Now X’s
parents doted on him and gave constant attention, because
of parents fear he too might die suddenly. X absorbed this
fear unconsciously and had frequent health problems.
 Boundaries can be a mystery to those who have been
deprived nurturing, continuity, and safety.
 We have the ability to say “enough food/drink”.
 We can withdraw secure in the knowledge that our roots will
support us.
 Otherwise we will be hanging to unwanted relationships.
UPPER CHAKRA DOMINANCE/IMBALANCE
 A person when not feeling safe or comfortable will direct
most of its energy upwards to head, which may result in
physical numb fail to notice hunger, rest, both of which are
1st chakra maintenance program. Further result in frequent
illness.
 Adult with damaged grounding usually is plagued by a
terrible sense that something is wrong but cannot tell what.
 Without roots bringing energy and nourishment up from
earth, we are weak. Communication may be blocked by fear
or become excessive and disconnected from feelings.
 Upper chakras are more charged resulting in confusion,
vagueness or feeling of going crazy.
 Answer is in grounding ourselves.
EXCESS/DEFICIENCY
 Excessive 1st chakra feels heavy. Body to be more large and
dense with excess weight around hips, thighs, and buttocks.
 If no weight problem then muscles are hard and rigid.
 Likes routine, security and possessions for financial gains.
 They need to let go, shift from excessive stability by walking,
exercise etc.
 Deficient 1st chakra is contracted, vacant, weak, sloppy or
unformed. He may sit cross legged and hunched over with
arms pull inwards.
 Person tend to be fidgeting, or move from foot to foot while
standing. Has sloppy dressing. Fantasies, dreams are
important.
 Exercise is very useful for them. Standing on ground
exercise.
BALANCE/FAMILY HISTORY
 Balanced 1st chakra is solidly grounded yet dynamically
alive. There is both flexibility and consistency.
 This gives a sense of inner security, good self care an right
to be here, and a strong sense of presence.
 Family history like one’s birth, breast-feeding, what was
going on in family at that time, any major illness, hardship,
type of bonding, nurturing from mother?
 Neglect and rejection results in deficiency.
 Stressful situations, smothering, numerous challenges result
in excess.
 Eg,” I can’t seems to get going”, “I am afraid all the time”,
“My Finances are away deplorable”.
HEALING
 You have to carefully first observe the way a pesron walks,
talks, moves, breathes, sits and looks out from behind their
eyes.
 We are looking at contractions, expansions, conflict,
freezing, collapse, activation etc.
 Notice that these are energetic rather than emotional state.
 The energetic statement made by the body is more
important.
 Eg what happens in your belly when you feel scared?
 Ask them questions on each body part like imagine you are
feet not tell me “I am my feet and I feel …….” when the
whole body has a chance to speak.eg, “Feels scary when
empty here it is stomach, but feel numb when full”.
 Now our question may be “what do you feel scared of?”
AFFIRMATION
 1st chakra represents physical reality, when damaged our
relationship to physical world is damaged.
 Both in excess and deficiency healing occurs through
creating a new relationship with our body, earth and
surroundings.
 Massage and walking on bare foot is the best thing to do
initially.
 Always give them positive affirmations.
 All the things that they are afraid of say something positive ,
so that they can relate to them and come out of it.
 This may be achieved by way of EFT, Meditation, Breathing
exercise, Yoga along with constant conversation with self
that they are needed in this world.

  • 1. DR. SWATI S JOSHI AAYUSH CARE Add. : 202 Nimesh Ind. Est., Vidhyalaya Marg, Bhoir Nagar, Mulund (East) Tel. : 9987079420/9869045041 Email : swatisudhirjoshi@yahoo.com Web : www.aayushcare.co.in
  • 2. MULADHAR/ROOT CHAKRA  Age Womb to 12 Months  Element Earth  Planet Mars  Location Base of Spine  Task Physical growth, Motor development, Bonding  Needs/Issues Trust, Nourishment, Safety, Right to be here.  Colour Red
  • 3. A GAME OF PRETEND  Infant who has just left the dark womb.  Several months you can’t do anything for self.  Trust or mistrust is basic element .  If you are confident that world is friendly place, you have the sense that you will live.  Feeding , holding , warmth , physical comfort must come from outside.  Here the nervous system respond instinctually.  Signals come from inside your body like hunger, cold, discomfort etc.  Means of communication is crying.
  • 4. ENVIRONMENT AND SELF  For fetus, uterus is the first experience of body, first home.  Mother’s nutritional balance and her emotional state plays a role in the child’s personal ground.  Mother is tense, afraid, uses tobacco, alcohol the child uses them too.  If the mother is warm and attentive the child is happy.  Child knows that crying will quench its hunger.  If the child is unable to get her need met then there is mistrust.  Development centers around learning to operate the body like sucking, creep, crawl, grasp, roll over.  At six months changes take place, child sits up.  Other 1st chakra development continue.
  • 5. TRAUMAS  Anything like birth trauma, abandonment, neglect, illness, poverty, malnourishment or physical abuse impacts 1st chakra.  Facing danger the current downward energy is blocked and the life force moves upwards, after a while it becomes habitual, depleting lower chakras thus imbalance.  Traumas can be birth, abandonment.  Separation from mother after birth like spanked, incubator, mother dies in child birth, mother in one place child in different place.  Being abandonment for above reasons or different.  This child may have the tendency to leave the task in half or after slight interruption.
  • 6. NEGLECT/FEEDING DIFFICULTIES  Neglect affects the chakras basic job of stabilizing the entire system. It may also result in shame, which impacts the 3rd & 4th chakra as well.  Like abandonment neglect is often echoed in the way we treat ourselves.  Malnourishment or hostile eating situation (dad is angry and shouts when eating) affects our ability to nourish ourselves.  Female child not given food before male child.  Some children are overfed and other live in constant hunger.  This results in food allergies, avoidance or addiction to food.  Nourishment comes not only in food but also as friends, intellectual and creative stimulation.
  • 7. PHYSICAL ABUSE/ILLNESS  It causes pain and teaches children to dissociate from their bodily sensations.  This results in difficulties in 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th chakras as well.  There is constant fear.  Illness, surgeries, accidents also impact the chakras.  Car accidents leave a deep mark on the mind.
  • 8. INHERITED TRAUMA/BOUNDARIES  It is possible to inherit 1st chakra issues from our parents without any direct abuse.  Eg., X was born 2 yrs after his sister died in crib. Now X’s parents doted on him and gave constant attention, because of parents fear he too might die suddenly. X absorbed this fear unconsciously and had frequent health problems.  Boundaries can be a mystery to those who have been deprived nurturing, continuity, and safety.  We have the ability to say “enough food/drink”.  We can withdraw secure in the knowledge that our roots will support us.  Otherwise we will be hanging to unwanted relationships.
  • 9. UPPER CHAKRA DOMINANCE/IMBALANCE  A person when not feeling safe or comfortable will direct most of its energy upwards to head, which may result in physical numb fail to notice hunger, rest, both of which are 1st chakra maintenance program. Further result in frequent illness.  Adult with damaged grounding usually is plagued by a terrible sense that something is wrong but cannot tell what.  Without roots bringing energy and nourishment up from earth, we are weak. Communication may be blocked by fear or become excessive and disconnected from feelings.  Upper chakras are more charged resulting in confusion, vagueness or feeling of going crazy.  Answer is in grounding ourselves.
  • 10. EXCESS/DEFICIENCY  Excessive 1st chakra feels heavy. Body to be more large and dense with excess weight around hips, thighs, and buttocks.  If no weight problem then muscles are hard and rigid.  Likes routine, security and possessions for financial gains.  They need to let go, shift from excessive stability by walking, exercise etc.  Deficient 1st chakra is contracted, vacant, weak, sloppy or unformed. He may sit cross legged and hunched over with arms pull inwards.  Person tend to be fidgeting, or move from foot to foot while standing. Has sloppy dressing. Fantasies, dreams are important.  Exercise is very useful for them. Standing on ground exercise.
  • 11. BALANCE/FAMILY HISTORY  Balanced 1st chakra is solidly grounded yet dynamically alive. There is both flexibility and consistency.  This gives a sense of inner security, good self care an right to be here, and a strong sense of presence.  Family history like one’s birth, breast-feeding, what was going on in family at that time, any major illness, hardship, type of bonding, nurturing from mother?  Neglect and rejection results in deficiency.  Stressful situations, smothering, numerous challenges result in excess.  Eg,” I can’t seems to get going”, “I am afraid all the time”, “My Finances are away deplorable”.
  • 12. HEALING  You have to carefully first observe the way a pesron walks, talks, moves, breathes, sits and looks out from behind their eyes.  We are looking at contractions, expansions, conflict, freezing, collapse, activation etc.  Notice that these are energetic rather than emotional state.  The energetic statement made by the body is more important.  Eg what happens in your belly when you feel scared?  Ask them questions on each body part like imagine you are feet not tell me “I am my feet and I feel …….” when the whole body has a chance to speak.eg, “Feels scary when empty here it is stomach, but feel numb when full”.  Now our question may be “what do you feel scared of?”
  • 13. AFFIRMATION  1st chakra represents physical reality, when damaged our relationship to physical world is damaged.  Both in excess and deficiency healing occurs through creating a new relationship with our body, earth and surroundings.  Massage and walking on bare foot is the best thing to do initially.  Always give them positive affirmations.  All the things that they are afraid of say something positive , so that they can relate to them and come out of it.  This may be achieved by way of EFT, Meditation, Breathing exercise, Yoga along with constant conversation with self that they are needed in this world.
