About 18 months ago we looked ahead and determined our strategy based on what we saw coming in the market. We really believed that the industry was going to undergo a fundamental change, one of those changes that only happens every generation, every 20 years or so. And that change was that instead of infrastructure continuing to be built in stand alone silos, that really don’t talk to each other, it was all going to start to come back together again. We determined our go forward strategy based on the fact that HP was uniquely positioned to bring everything back together, because we are the only large company that develops its own servers, its own storage, its own networks and its own management software that can tie it altogether. We call this the HP converged infrastructure. It is the underlying infrastructure that is driving the reunification of technology today.
Our approach of open, modular architectures and standards means customers can make an investment in VirtualSystem for their near term virtualization needs and add on to the same VirtualSystem to move to the cloud. So when customers are ready to expand to a fully automated, private or hybrid cloud environment, there is an upgrade path requiring no changes to the physical architecture. HP has a simplified service to help customers upgrade those investments from blades to virtualization to CloudSystem
HP Technology Services offers a full lifecycle capability for each of the Converged System solutions. From consulting and support services, from strategy, assessment, design, test, implementation, training, and then transition to HP Solution Support. Our HP Start services accelerate the time that it takes to get the first business results. These are short duration services that include integration to the datacenter, orientation, and handover to the customer. Services vary by individual system, and can be modified to meet your specific needs. AppStart services are tailored to each solution, accelerating the time needed to deliver business results. For example, the Database Consolidation System AppStart can assess current Microsoft SQL Server applications and identify good candidates for consolidation. Once the system arrives, AppStart configures it into the customer network, integrates to the customer’s management infrastructure, backup, recover, and security systems, deploys the system, goes through operational readiness, and hands the system over. CloudStart can get customers up and running with private cloud in as little as just 30 days. It’s a fixed scope, pre-integrated private cloud solution delivered by HP experts.VirtualStart services for server or client virtualization are designed to simplify the process to provide an integrated, production system. For example, for the Client Virtualization system, HP’s Client Virtualization Analysis & Modeling service quickly identifies user populations that are best suited to Client Virtualization. VirtualStart can rapidly implement a standard client virtualization design and move employees into the new system.

You need some form of shared infrastructure to enable a cloud environment, whether that’s in a private, public or hybrid cloud environment. And finally, our Performance Optimized Data Center – or what we call a POD is also available to help customers either expand their current data center or acquire a new data center from the ground up at a significantly reduced cost and time to market. And our demand for PODs is growing significantly, we’ve just approved new investment in manufacturing PODs, we can’t seem to build them fast enough!
