This document outlines plans for investing in growth businesses in Derby through a Regional Growth Fund Programme. It discusses plans to create a Global Technology Cluster, Innovation Campus, Rail Technology Centre, high-speed broadband network ("Lightspeed Evolution"), and Enterprise Growth Fund. The Innovation Campus aims to become a leading UK center for supply chain innovation in transport engineering through research collaborations and supporting skills development, startups, and existing businesses in the region.

• Lightspeed project would enable:
• Creation of a core network, akin to an electrical ‘ring
main’, linking all major employment sites, public
services and data centres
• Roll out access to 95% of businesses and residents

The benefits:
• Studies in Europe and North America show a
GDP increase of 1% as a result of installing a
core fibre network.
• Creation of approx 500 new jobs per year in
Derby.
• Benefits to SMEs who currently would not be
able to afford dedicated high speed broadband
provision
12. Derby Enterprise Growth Fund
• Creation of a financial assistance scheme to
offer grant, loan or equity investment to SME’s,
midcaps and social enterprise
• Assistance on offer where there is:
• a clear need for public sector intervention
• aspirations for growth
• a viable business development proposal
• creation/safeguarding of jobs
• Range of capital and revenue activity
• Strong link with Innovation Campus project….
