  1. 1. Hello Once Again to all Groovy Grandma Fans, Wow didn’t that week go fast! But as promised we have just uploaded another 7 new stories on our website for this week’s reading pleasure. But first some friendly feedback: Groovy Grandmas just loves getting feedback from our readers about the articles we post in our magazine. Soon we will be including blogs on our pages so that members can respond directly online. But for now, sending me an email or tweet (on twitter) is the best way to let us know what you think. Green Grandma Robyn’s article last week on “The Lost Art of Mending” resulted in quite a few emails. Thanks especially to Pam for her encouragement. Pam works for the Department of Natural Resources in NSW and is one of our GG members here is her letter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

I suspect it may be a very long time before they get another chance to enjoy such an evening. My turn to play, feed, bathe and put the little tyke to bed. But being a Grandma does not mean you have carte blanche to spoil your grandkids although you want to. My daughter is really organized and fussy about Xavier!s diet and eating habits – so how can I spoil my little darling grandson without overdoing it? Amanda Clark adv ADP author of Portion Perfection gives some practical advice and shows how you can have your cake and eat too look for her article in D & M this week. Bad “F” words
  3. 3. No…not the kind to occasionally slip from the lips of my best friend Jess but those we all dread when we look in the mirror following our winter hibernation and various comfort food indulgences. Fat Flabby Floppy Frumpy….. these “F” words are much worse than Jessies “F” words. If only there was a way to shed those extra kilos instantly without having to resort to surgery. Well there is …. Some might call it cheating but if you don’t feel in the mood for starting that diet or sweating it out in the gym, then Bella Bodies has the answer for you. Some might call it cheating but I tried the leggings out the other day and actually got complimented on my legs. What The???!!! I have to confess that my lower limbs are my least attractive body part. I have the chunkiest dimpliest legs – I really do – but the other day while wearing my Bella Bodies leggings a man actually came up to me and told me I had great legs! Another nice thing about Bella Bodies, which won my heart is their size range. No “Large” or Extra Large” sizing their shapewear comes in “Voluptuous” and “Very Voluptuous” etc. with me being the latter. Cheating?? Well I might start my personal war on the wobbly bits in a month or two – but for now Bella Bodies is making me look as if I have already won the battle. By the way this is NOT me in the picture…but close ! What else?
  4. 4. In Loving Life: • Jess lets us peek inside her lovely home in Mi Casa Su Casa – a reading must for those of you who may be considering downsizing; • We meet Victorian baby boomer ex-hippie Denise Ogilvy who is what I refer to as a “gypsy skier” This has nothing to do with snowfields but rather “ski” is an acronym for “Spend the Kids Inheritance” ! So with the super cheque in the bank Denise is off to explore our wide brown land in her caravan. In Postcards: • Groovy Grandma member Georgina Dingle takes us to Vietnam to experience through her eyes the cultural chaos that are the streets of Hanoi; What’s Cooking: • Odette O’Neill has a terrific Microwave Lamb Curry for you to try Fashion and Wardrobe: • Beth gives you the low down on how to care for those winter woolies. …. And finally this week Further to the call for Baby Boomers Debate Last newsletter we asked you if you would like to have your say on the Euthanasia debate. We are going to *publish some of these responses online next week. It seems that just about everyone is pro euthanasia at this stage, so we would particularly like to hear from anyone who is against it. Thanks again to those of you who have already responded to our call. If you would like to have you say on this controversial subject either for or against please email me your thoughts before 27 August 2009. * As we do intend to publish any letters received so if you prefer to remain anonymous please let us know. All published letters will receive a prize so please remember to include your postal address on your email. Next Week… Lots more interesting, informative and entertaining reading will be coming your way next week, we have some special offers as well, so keep a look out for your next GGs newsletter, trust me you wont want to miss it!
