14. 14. Project Plan/Timeline
September 30, 2011
Renee Hernandez & Greg Castro
6
15. 15. Competitor Research
The U - http://www.theu.com/
The U is an entirely online company, specializing in interactive information-providing, relating specifically to choosing colleges, careers, and “Finding your role in life.” They have quizzes, browsers, and personality finders.
Surviving College Life - http://www.survivingcollegelife.com/
This is an online blog that deals specifically with student issues, and how to survive the day-to-day of college life. It is written by a recent San Diego graduate.
FDIC - http://www.fdic.gov/consumers/consumer/moneysmart/young.html
This is a government provided website, offering similar courses in financial education. It’s hard to imagine a college student using this.
September 30, 2011
Renee Hernandez & Greg Castro
7
16. 16.

In some ways, we don’t beat the competition. Real Life 101’s website is very basic compared to something like, “The U.”
    17. 17. The information is also coming from a husband and wife team, and so it is probably more dated than from say, a recent graduate.
    18. 18. Real Life 101’s brand is a positive, as it conveys a young adult feel, without being boring or too childish. This is where we will focus.

September 30, 2011
Renee Hernandez & Greg Castro
8
How we Beat the competition
19. 19. September 30, 2011
Renee Hernandez & Greg Castro
9
pitch
Client – Real Life 101 provides educational courses in the, “college life,” vein. They are looking to make the jump to online video courses.
Objective – We are going to design and animate a regular intro for these new videos.
Target Audience – College freshmen, high school seniors
Message – Real Life 101 is for young adults looking to comfortably learn a few life lessons.
Strategy – Using Motion, we will design an intro that excites the viewer, but remains quick and mature.
20. 20. What we will do first to get started
September 30, 2011
Renee Hernandez & Greg Castro
10
21. 21. Client- Provided Examples…
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jbkSRLYSojo
An excellent educational, part live-action, part animation video
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QVEZzhqJY7Y&feature=relmfu
Stylish, fun videos on etiquette
September 30, 2011
Renee Hernandez & Greg Castro
11
22. 22. Divison of work…
Renee – Renee will head up the design aspect by assembling images and examples of introductory animations. She will then incorporate the core concepts given to us by our client. She will then help to animate.
Greg – Greg will also be designing, but with a focus on the actual design of movement in the animation. He will come up with several examples and concepts for the movements of the design. He will then work with Renee to animate.
September 30, 2011
Renee Hernandez & Greg Castro
12
23. 23. Client Agreement
Before moving ahead with any single design concept, we will need to meet with the owners to discuss a core concept and then reach an agreement on a design.
Once we are on the same page as far as concept, we will begin to brainstorm and work into our timeline.
September 30, 2011
Renee Hernandez & Greg Castro
13
