  2. 2. A student learns more in School Environment than elsewhere. His actions in school go on to become habits! We recommend building strong habits from Pre Primary sections!
  3. 3. For the overall development a child needs <ul><li>A hygienic environment </li></ul><ul><li>Good food for mind and body </li></ul><ul><li>Good exercise </li></ul><ul><li>Good sleep </li></ul><ul><li>Healthy and hygienic habits </li></ul>

Students generally avoid using washrooms in schools: <ul><li>Their 1 st experience with a public toilet </li></ul><ul><li>Washrooms are not clean and well maintained </li></ul><ul><li>Bad-Odor in the toilets </li></ul><ul><li>Sometimes no soap and towels </li></ul><ul><li>Indecent graffiti written on the walls </li></ul><ul><li>LEADING TO: </li></ul><ul><li>Lack of concentration </li></ul><ul><li>Bladder and kidney infections </li></ul><ul><li>Poor drinking and eating habits. </li></ul>

Abuse of Washrooms <ul><li>Students leave the taps open </li></ul><ul><li>Damage fittings, door handles, locks with forceful use </li></ul><ul><li>Soaps and towel tissues used as toys </li></ul><ul><li>Scratch walls with slogans and drawings </li></ul><ul><li>Dis-respect the Janitorial staff </li></ul>Washroom Maintainence: The biggest challenge for Schools !

Make the Act participative <ul><li>Educate students about the importance of Clean and Hygienic Washrooms </li></ul><ul><li>Have class room debates on the subject </li></ul><ul><li>Provide Live Projects on Cleanliness around your school involving washrooms as the most critical area </li></ul><ul><li>Painting / Poster competition on My visit to the Washroom </li></ul><ul><li>Story telling on different washroom visit experiences; taking out improvement plans for the school washroom </li></ul><ul><li>Budgeting projects to student committees to handle school office supplies – including washroom supplies </li></ul>

Participative committee <ul><li>Form a student, parent, teacher and housekeeping member committee; led by the principal / trustees </li></ul><ul><li>This committee is in charge of all the problems related to washrooms </li></ul><ul><li>They will investigate washrooms periodically; note improvements and areas of concern and take actions </li></ul><ul><li>Other students directly coordinate with the committee on any issues related to washrooms. </li></ul><ul><li>This committee will have rights to act upon the misbehaving / abusive students </li></ul><ul><li>Encourage teachers to use / surprise visit the student washrooms </li></ul>

Positive Results <ul><li>A change in the students’ attitude and behavior towards themselves ,others, washrooms and school. </li></ul><ul><li>Students will grow up as socially responsible citizens </li></ul><ul><li>Learn to give and gain respect of all including the Janitorial staff </li></ul>
