  2. 2. WP Clamping Method:<br />Holding a W.P To an engine lathe depends mainly upon the geometrical features of the WP.<br />2<br />
  3. 3. Holding Hollow Cylindrical WP:<br />Cylindrical W.Ps Have a certain holding methods to the engine lathe but first we need to know if the WP is Hollow or Solid.<br />Hollow Cylindrical W.Ps are either Tapered or Straight.<br />3<br />Cylindrical W.PS>Hollow> Tapered<br />Cylindrical W.PS>Hollow> Straight<br /><ul><li>We use a Tapered Mandrel.
  4. 4. The Mandrel is pushed inside the WP till it is fixed.
  5. 5. We use a Straight Mandrel.

  8. 8. Holding Solid Cylindrical WP:<br />Solid Cylindrical W.Ps are either Shortor Long.<br />5<br />Cylindrical W.PS>Solid> Short<br />Cylindrical W.PS>Solid> Long<br /><ul><li>We Hold it using the 3-Jaw Chuck or using Collets.

Holding Non-Cylindrical WP:<br />Non-Cylindrical W.Ps Have a certain holding methods to the engine lathe but first we need to know if the WP is Regular Shapeor Irregular Shape.<br />Regular shapes are either Short or Long.<br />7<br />Regular Shape>Long<br />Regular Shape>Short<br /><ul><li>We use the 4-Jaw Chuck.

Holding Irregular Shaped W.Ps<br />Irregular Shaped W.Ps are such as perpendicular-Pipes and V-Pipes.<br />9<br /> Non-Cylindrical WPs>Irregular Shapes <br /><ul><li>Irregular Shaped WPs cannot be clamped in a chuck and are, therefore, mounted on a plate fixture that is attached to faceplate while using a counterweight.</li></li></ul><li>WP Clamping Method:<br />10<br />
