Americas Cup is the mostimportant competition ofsailing sport. Somesources say it is the thirdsport event that has greateconomic impact for thehost country, after theOlympics and World Cup.
The Ship. The first of the two new designs that will compete for the 34th Americas Cup, is the AC45 catamaran, made his debut in Auckland (New Zealand) on 17 January 2011.
The ship is an essential part in the34th Americas Cup, which takesplace on 72-foot catamaran in the Bayof San Francisco in 2013. The AC45 is a racing boat tech rigid sail propelled by a rising over 20 meters on deck.
Aleph, from France. The team came together for the first time in November 2009 to compete in the nascent Louis Vuitton Trophy regatta in Nice, France. The team then went on to compete in the next two Louis Vuitton Trophy regattas in Auckland, New Zealand and La Maddelena, Italy.
PEOPLE. The team’s best-knownpersonality is, without doubt, 1993Vendée Globe, winner Alain Gautier.Gautier skippered the ALEPH AC45 atthe ACWS Cascais regatta and finishedin 8th position in the fleet racing.Gautier leads the technical direction ofthe team.
Artemis Racing, fromSweden. Is the challenger of record for the 34th America’s Cup. Artemis Racing competes in the America’s Cup World Series, Extreme Sailing Series, RC44 Championship Tour and Vulcain Trophy. Artemis Racing represents the Royal Swedish Yacht Club (KSSS).
The Royal Swedish Yacht Club,(KSSS), is Sweden’s largest andoldest sailing club. Founded in 1830,KSSS is also the oldest club outsidethe British Isles and 5th oldest in theworld and has more than 6,000members. KSSS organizes racing, aswell as junior sailing and elitetraining.
One of the world’s largest offshore races,the Round Gotland Race, is also organizedby the KSSS, as was the Volvo Ocean Racestopover in Stockholm in 2009.
BAR, from UnitedKingdom. Ben Ainslie Racing (BAR) was launched in January 2012. BAR will compete in the 2012/13 America’s Cup World Series (ACWS), with a long term vision to challenge for the 35th America’s Cup following the conclusion of the 34th Cup in San Francisco in 2013.
The Royal Cornwall Yacht Club (RCYC) was formed in 1871 and is the 15th oldest “Royal” yacht club in England. The first patrons of the club were Queen Victoria and the Duke of Cornwall (the future King Edward VII).
The RCYC is situated in an idyllicwaterfront setting in Falmouth, whichhas long been a venue for majorregattas.
CHINA TEAM.China Team is a true Chinese challengeras it will be powered by mainly Chinesesailors on a China-built boat. This is thesecond challenge for China, led againby chairman Wang Chaoyong. ThierryBarot, CEO of China Team and a 25 yearAmerica’s Cup veteran, is leading ateam of Chinese and Olympic/WorldChampion international multihullsailors.
China Team represents the spirit of sports inChina nowadays, as sailing, while stillrelatively new in China, under the guidance ofProfessional Olympics Coach Derek Clark,Skipper Charlie Ogletree, and HelmsmanAndreas Hagara, the young Chinese sailorswill train and carry the hopes of the Chinesenation.
Emirates Team NewZealand. Emirates Team New Zealand is a professional sailing team competing in the Volvo Ocean Race, on the Extreme Sailing Series circuit and the America’s Cup World Series. In 2009 and 2010, the team competed successfully on the Audi MedCup series, winning the championship on both years.
Led by managing director Grant Dalton andskipper Dean Barker, Emirates Team NewZealand will once again carry the hopes oftheir small island nation into battle in theAmerica’s Cup.

Green Comm Racing,Spain. Green Comm Racing team will represent the Real Club Nautical of Valencia, the seventh participant in the challenge of Edition 34 of the America’s Cup. The aim of Green Comm Racing is to promote and lead the Green Revolution, using the media impact on the sporting event which has the oldest sailing.
Green Comm Racing isidentifying different brands understandthat the world is changing towards a"social economy" in which recommendand co-branding is a central issue in thedaily lives of consumers.
Luna Rossa, Italy.YACHT CLUBCIRCOLO DELLA VELA SICILIA: founded in 1933, is one of the oldest and most prestigious yacht clubs of the Mediterranean. Its club house is in Mondello, a few kilometers from the centre of Palermo. Throughout the years the Circolo della Vela Sicilia hosted many prestigious national and international regattas, including the J 24 and Star Class European Championships, the Italian Olympic classes Championship and the “Palermo – Monte Carlo” offshore race.
Team Korea. The team was founded by Kim Dong-Young, an accomplished sailor and the organizer of one of the biggest prize money sailing events in the world, The Korea Match Cup. Young has realistic ambitions for this first effort, calling it a learning experience with the aim of constant improvement.
Structure of thecompetition: The competition can be divided into two parts. First can be the necessity to establish which teams earn the right to compete for the defense and the challenge trophy. Subsequently, the two winning teams meet in the Americas Cup.
Choosing defenderand challenger: -The defending Cup club can choose the team that will represent him in a race called Defender Selection Series, and that sponsorship reasons named Citizen Cup in 1992 and 1997. -The challenger is the winner of the Challenger Selection Series, which is called Louis Vuitton Cup between 1983 and 2007 for reasons of patronage.
