  2. 2. WHOWEAREis the Italian Air Navigation Service Provider. It is a resultof the transformation of the National Agency for Flight Assistance into ajoint-stock Company, in 2001, and it is entirely controlled by the Ministryof Economy and Finance and supervised by the Ministry of InfrastructureandTransport
  3. 3. WHATWEDOis the company which provides Air Traffic Control service, alongwith ATS, AIS and Aeronautical Meteorological Services to civil air traffic inthe Italian skies, with the mission of guaranteeing the safety andregularity of all flights conducted within the Italian airspace

WHAT WE DO ENAVs personnel ensures air traffic servicesthrough different types of structures managingthe various phases of flight. The en route phases of cruise are guaranteed bythe Air Traffic Controllers who operate in theArea Control Centers (ACCs) located inBrindisi, Rome, Padova, Milano. ENAV provides air navigation services on 39Italian airports, including the two hubs (Roma-Fiumicino and Milano-Malpensa).To date, ENAV manages more than 1,6million flights per year, with peaks that canreach 6,000 flights per day.

WHAT ELSE Aeronautical InformationPublication and updating of essential aeronauticalinformation (AIP Italia publication, NOTAMsissuing/updating,pre-flight information). MeteorologyRegular weather reports, airport forecasts andimmediate signalling of any weather conditionshazardous to the flight. Cartography and Flight ProceduresExclusive design and production of all air trafficprocedures and aeronautical charts for civil aviation. Flight InspectionChecking of in-flight radio-assistance (Radar, VOR,DME, ILS etc.) to verify the correctness ofinformation conveyed via radio.

THE ACADEMY ENAV has the sole rights to training civil air navigationprofessionals at the Academy, located in Forlì. Thanks to a strong commitment and a continuousdevelopment, ENAV has been able to reach the highest levelamong international professional trainers. The training offered by the Academy is available both toprofessionals strictly related to the Air Traffic Controlindustry and to those working in the different aeronauticalsectors (e.g. airline companies, airport management,governmental air transport departments etc.)academy@enav.itacademy.infotraining@enav.it

WHERE WE DO IT From 4 Area Control Centers On 39 Airports Over Italian Airspace At InternationalTables:ENAV S.p.A. has an active presence in major internationaldecisional and consultation activities. In Europe, it participates inworkshops and projects managed by EUROCONTROL and theEuropean Commission, while globally it pursues tasks led by ICAOand CANSO - the Civil Air Navigation Services Organisation.Since 14th June 2011, Chairman of the EuropeanCANSO CEO Committee (EC3).Since 29th September 2011, Chairman of the EUATM Network Management Board.Since 22nd November 2011, Chief ExecutiveOfficer (CEO) for ENAV.

TECHNOSKYTechno Sky is an ENAV controlled company, which supplies technical, operational andmanagement services to 41 radar systems, 95 telecommunications centers, 76meteorological systems, 5 visual aid systems, 198 navigation aid systems and71 software systems for air traffic control in units run by ENAV

  13. 13. THE ENAV CENTREAT FIUMICINO AIRPORT The Leonardo da Vinci Airport in Rome Fiumicino is one ofthe two national HUBs. The Control Tower, designed by Eng. Morandi, is 56 metres highand was built in the late 50s. For its particular architecture it hasbeen declared a National Monument by the Ministry of Culture. TheOperations Room is located at the highest floor and is organized into6 operating positions, expandable to 8, plus the SPV position.

THE ENAV CENTREAT FIUMICINO AIRPORT The same building also houses the Meteorological Station, wherethe AerodromeWeather Observation service is provided from. The ARO-CBO (ATS Reporting Office – Central Briefing Office)completes the ENAV Fiumicino centre. It deals with the AeronauticalInformation Service in the broader sense.

THE ENAV CENTREAT FIUMICINO AIRPORT150 people work at ENAV Fiumicino: 55 Air Traffic Controllers 35 Specialists in ATS/AIS/Met Services 30Technicians and Administrative staff Plus 50 Techno Sky technicians.The SAAV is structured in 5 departments: Operations Dept. Training Dept. Safety Dept. Operational Personnel Dept. Technical Dept.

THE ENAV CENTREAT FIUMICINO AIRPORTAMS and A-CDMENAV at Fiumicino provides Aerodrome ATC and AMS (along withthe Airport Operator“Aeroporti di Roma”) and is implementing –with all other stakeholders, such as AdR, Alitalia (the Italian FlagCarrier) and Ground Handlers – the Airport-CDM project,allowing Fiumicino Airport to position itself as one of the first inEurope to introduce Collaborative Decision Makingprocedures.
