North Energy ASA · post@northenergy.no · (+47) 78 60 79 50 · www.northenergy.no Use of GIS within North Energy  The use and understanding of spatial data is vital to:  Successfully govern our current licenses  Effectively assess potential new areas of interest  Majority of data we use is public data e.g. NPD  Incorporation of in-house evaulated data within ArcGIS:  Further analyse the data  Useful to generate maximum visual impact through multi-data display

Time slices, depth maps, seismic attribute extractions etc.  Previous methods of exporting grids into ArcGIS were: a. Manual work flow of converting an EarthVision Grid into a .txt file and loading it into ArcGIS, displaying XY data, then converting the points to a Raster: Accurate but time consuming b. Importing the grid as an image with no spatial reference, then using the Georeferencing tool to give the image its correct spatial location: Less accurate but still time consuming. a. b.

North Energy ASA · post@northenergy.no · (+47) 78 60 79 50 · www.northenergy.no Direct Importation of Grids into ArcGIS  New method uses a Python Scipt tool from GeoData: Text file input here (in same form it is exported from Petrel) Spatial reference and Cell Size are same as those defined in Petrel Project Output is a spatially referenced raster directly saved into ArcGIS........

North Energy ASA · post@northenergy.no · (+47) 78 60 79 50 · www.northenergy.no Importation of Grid into ArcGIS Customize display intervals:  In this example, the values tend to be around 770 to 800  Values outside this can be turned off in display  Default display of inputted Grid in ArcGIS using default stetched colour ramp  Display settings are now easily adjusted.  Define intervals of display:

North Energy ASA · post@northenergy.no · (+47) 78 60 79 50 · www.northenergy.no Well Data in GIS  Selection of wells in area of interest (from NPD data)  Can export selected wells to create a new feature class  Create Excel sheet with a list of the wells in question. Well name in spread sheet should match WELL_NAME or WBNAME in NPD data  Use of NPD data and well reports to create additional descriptive fields for each well.  Example: Reservoir thickness, reservoir lithology, reservoir porosity, facies.  Add excel sheet to Table of Contents

Numeric data can also be displayed visually. E.g. Reservoir thickness

North Energy ASA · post@northenergy.no · (+47) 78 60 79 50 · www.northenergy.no Portal for ArcGIS  Common map usage:  Seismic coverage  Licence information  Well locations  New licensing areas (e.g. APA)  Creation of maps for presentations  Portal for ArcGIS replaced our basic webmap application, with a new application where customized maps can be created, saved and shared with other employees  Easy to manipulate data (e.g. Reordering of layers)  Regularly used maps can be saved and created  Data can be published from our internal geodatabase to Portal  ESRI App for Microsoft Office makes it possible to view dynamic maps during presentations
