2. Luke’s walking past a classroom and notices Olivia (the girl he fancy’s) in the drama room acting with the gold lamp. He decides to wait outside the classroom to speak to her & plays his PSP in the meantime. When she comes out he stands up to speak to her but she looks at him oblivious & walks off. She drops the lamp she was using as a prop in the class & he picks it up to give it back ( there’s a moment with the lamp) but he looks up & she’s almost out of the door.
3. “I wish I wasn’t such a loser” Luke says – A genie appears asking if that is an official wish. She tries to convince him that she is a genie & eventually he believes her as she offers to make something appear from nowhere to prove it. They begin talking & he tells her about the girl he likes. As he is talking, Olivia comes from the other direction and Luke bumps into her & she’s rude to him. [At this stage of the film the Genie is invisible to others.] The genie offers to make Luke noticeable, without Luke making any wishes, so that Olivia can notice him. Genie gives him a ‘mini’ makeover & with this there are shots of them spending time together & becoming close (teaching her to play the PSP, laughing etc.)
4. It comes to the moment where he’s ready to confront Olivia – we see Genie is disappointed as she drops subtle hints that he shouldn’t go. However he goes to Olivia but she finds his interest in PSP ‘nerdy’ (unlike Genie) – he notices the genie & rethinks about his decision & realises he infact likes the genie. He goes to her ready to make his wish, which she is reluctant to grant as she believes it will be to be with Olivia but Luke whispers: “I wish you weren’t a genie”. Slide shots of genie now as a student in uniform with Luke.
5. FEEDBACK After we pitched our third idea we got a much better response in comparison to the other two. People said: It was much more effective as a story, it was shorter and more to the point There was logical causality, narrative development, character development The initial reaction once we finished pitching was ‘Awww’ showing that the story had audience attention and they were emotionally engaged It needs to be handled carefully The locations aren’t as complicated as the other stories – there were less places to film therefore making filming less complicated
