For the Great Gatsby Night held in May 2014, we took inspiration from the art deco style popular in the 1920s. The same style was used in The Great Gatsby movie posters and as a result became a trademark visual for anything related to Gatsby

  1. 1. The Great Gatsby Party A Case Study Client: High Ultra Lounge Vertical: Hospitality Key Services: Social Media, Print, Branding
  2. 2. THE CHALLENGE The 2013 film, The Great Gatsby gained a lot of popularity for its depiction of the ‘Roaring Twenties’. Everyone was taken by the glamorous and flamboyant lifestyle showcased in the film. High Ultra Lounge wanted to give its guests the opportunity to relive the 1920’s in all its glory. So they decided to host a Great Gatsby Themed Party. For the same, they required us to create social media and print creatives, that would promote the party and generate interest. High Ultra Lounge emphasized on all creatives being classy and representing the 1920’s era perfectly. Note: High Ultra Lounge hosted two Great Gatsby Themed parties, one on 30th May 2014; following its success, they hosted another one on New Year’s Eve 2015, with the aim to be a New Year party different from the rest. We were responsible for the creatives of both these parties.
  3. 3. THE APPROACH The Great Gatsby New Year Party 2015 We set ourselves on a research spree that focused on the 1920’s lifestyle, covering aspects such as party décor and dressing styles. We spent time referring to the movie, to get a proper understanding of what a Gatsby party looks and feels like. We focused on ideas that expressed class and extravagance, through a combination of the 1920’s and the current times. The key was to have visuals and copy that grabbed attention, generated interest and stayed true to the theme.
  4. 4. THE IMPLEMENTATION The Great Gatsby New Year Party Dec 2015
  5. 5. Branding Central Visual Mnemonic We created a grand mnemonic that represented the Great Gatsby theme perfectly . It used black and gold elements, colours that the movie made popular. The mnemonic expressed extravagance and class, exactly what the party was all about. The mnemonic was used for all the collaterals and acted as an identity solely dedicated to the event.
  6. 6. Digital Facebook Teasers We created a series of classy teasers with vintage 1920 elements that hinted at The Great Gatsby New Year Party without being too obvious. We used copy that intended to create curiosity, and visual elements that engaged and attracted the viewer.

Digital Party?’Facebook Event Details Posts The final event posts depicted models from the current times, dressed up in 1920’s classy, extravagant attire, supported by copy such as “Classy People Call For Classy Parties!” and “One’s Never Too Overdressed For A Gatsby Party!”. We also created posts dedicated to ‘How to dress up for a Gatsby Party?’ This made the posts more attractive as compared to posts that would only provide event details.

  9. 9. Digital Party?’Facebook Timeline Cover We created a timeline cover where the central mnemonic was the main focus, supported by the visual of an elegant couple that was classy yet modern. The timeline cover was also designed to highlight the main details of the event.

All the print collaterals showcased the central mnemonic, along with main event details; supported by the visual of a classy yet modern couple. Hoarding

  16. 16. THE APPROACH Great Gatsby Night May 2014 For the Great Gatsby Night held in May 2014, we took inspiration from the art deco style popular in the 1920s. The same style was used in The Great Gatsby movie posters and as a result became a trademark visual for anything related to Gatsby. We spent time going through various art deco styles, and used the knowledge gained to create striking creatives that were minimalistic, yet impactful. We maintained the black and gold colour scheme to create a direct connection to Great Gatsby.

  18. 18. Digital Party?’Facebook Event Details Posts We created classy event detail posts for Facebook that used unique art deco elements and maintained an overall black and gold colour scheme. The idea was to keep it simple but striking, and also create a connection to the existing Great Gatsby imagery.
  19. 19. Digital Party?’Facebook Timeline Covers We created two timeline covers for the event. The first one was a teaser, aimed at generating curiosity among followers. The visual elements hinted at the Great Gatsby without being direct. The second one focused on the details of the event.
