1. Is Artificial intelligence
dangerous ?
BY GAUTAM ANAND
DO WE NEED TO BE SCARED OF
AI?
•Many individuals has expressed their concerns on
risks of AI.
•Such as great physicist Stephen hawking and Elon
musk suggest AI could potentially be very
dangerous.
How can AI be dangerous?
Experts think two scenarios where AI can pose risk :
• The AI is programmed to do something devastating.
• The AI is programmed to do something beneficial, but it
develops a destructive method for achieving its goal.
2. AUTONOMOUS WEAPONS
It is expected that the nuclear arms race will be
replaced with a global autonomous weapons
race. Once deployed, they will likely to be
difficult to dismantle or combat.
Best example of AI driven wars can be seen in
Russia Ukraine war where AI drones were used
to attack Russian ship.
Security and Privacy
AI can grow the speed, resilience, and
success rate of a cyberattack.
Since the algorithms are self-learning, they
can become smarter with each failure and
thus tailor each subsequent attack to the new
knowledge they’ve acquired.
JOB AUTOMATION
Automation is a danger of AI that is already affecting society.
From mass production factories to self-serve checkouts to
self-driving cars, automation has been occurring for
decades—and the process is accelerating. The issue is that
outperform Humans
As AI systems continue to improve, they will become far better
at tasks than human.
Deepfakes, Fake News, and Political Security
Scammers are already blackmailing people with deepfake
videos created from something as simple and accessible as a
Facebook profile picture.
And that’s not the only risk. AI can recreate and edit photos,
compose text, clone voices, and automatically produce highly
targeted advertising.
3. No clarity about the
legal responsibility
Many questions have arisen about the
accountability of AI machines. If an
accident is caused by an autonomous
vehicle, is the car to blame or the person?
If an AI robot creates a mishap during
surgery, what are the legal proceedings of
that?
Self aware Artificial
Superintelligence
• Artificial Super Intelligence refers to an age of AI
robots that can take place of human intelligence
and gain the final stage in their development i.e.
Self-awareness. A topic that has been the crux of
AI threats in movies and literature.
Mitigating the Risks of Artificial Intelligence
The first step in mitigating the risks of artificial intelligence will
be to decide where we want AI to be used and where it
should be discouraged. Increasing research and debate into AI
systems and their uses is the first step to preventing them
from being misused
Advantages of Artificial intelligence
•Google assistant
•Self-driving cars
•Online shopping
•Streaming services
•Gaming
•Increased business productivity
•Etc.
4. CONCLUSION
Any powerful technology can be misused. Today artificial
intelligence is used for many good causes including to help us
make better medical diagnosis ,find new ways to cure cancer
and make our cars safer.
Unfortunately, as our AI capabilities expand we will also see it
being used for dangerous or malicious purposes. Since AI
technology is advancing rapidly, it is vital for us to start to
debate the best ways for AI to develop positively while
minimizing its destructive potential.
