7. 7.

A place to stay will be critical to survival. As moving from one location to another is very risky, this location must provide the group will need the supplies as mentioned above. For obvious reasons, this place to stay would have to be based next to, or in the river. The Itchen Bridge passes over the River Itchen and has 2 supports, both with concrete bases that are higher than the water level. The zombies have very low intelligence levels and would find it very difficult to swim across to these concrete bases. Both of these bases have access to water, food, sunlight (to disinfect any water) and grid electricity (due to the lighting).

Although this location is enough to keep the group alive by providing supplies. The road going over the bridge will likely have zombies playing heavy metal music and this area provides no protection from this threat.

To protect against this threat without preventing the group from communicating, sound waves must be selectively cancelled out. By placing two microphones on the bridge, it can be calculated from what direction the sound waves are coming from, along with the amplitude of these waves. A speaker near the group can then pump out an antiphase and hence cancel out the infectious sounds. This will protect the team as long as they stay near the speaker. A healthy dose of popular music will also be administered at all times to drive back any zombies.

To protect the critical locations against zombies, an array of large spark-gap transmitters can be set up using the power from the powered rail network, these transmitters will utilise the side effect that is the reason that they are no longer used. As they spam a large chunk of the EM spectrum, they will cause speakers within the area to click as the spark-gaps are fired. Quenching the arcs will allow for a higher frequency of clicks. The spark-gaps will be fired in time to popular music. This will then play a crackly version of popular song over any speaker within the area that isn't fully shielded.

As all 6 critical locations lie near the rail line that runs through Southampton, all should be protected as they all have PA systems that will play this music, therefore clearing these areas of zombies.

THE PLAN
