This guide will teach you several ways to get your online business going. Soon, you’ll be earning
your first $1000 through passive income!
Thanks again for downloading this book, I hope you enjoy it!
CHAPTER 1: The Basics of Passive Income
What is passive income?
Some forms of online income may require a lot of time and energy. Passive income, though, is earned
without the necessity of real-time input. You can create an online business and let it run, reaping the
benefits without having to babysit an active company. It does require some time upfront, sometimes a
large amount, and you do need to keep an eye on it – but once it's set up, it can be an easy way to
generate money.
Earning a passive income requires hard work, dedication and the courage to take risks. Not all of
these methods will work for you, and at first you may fail. This guide will teach you the hardest part:
how to get started. Once you've gotten up and running, your first $1000 should come in no time.
What is affiliate marketing?
Affiliate marketing is a common way of earning a passive income, and is one that, once set up,
requires little work for you to maintain. Simply put, you provide advertising space for a company,
and in return, you earn a small amount for every person who clicks that advertising. The commission
may seem small at first, but if you have a large audience, all those clicks will add up. A good way to
earn a passive income is to have many different blogs or websites, all affiliated with different
companies, in order to reach the widest audience possible. Most of the strategies listed in this guide
will rely on some form of affiliate marketing.
Tips to generate passive income
There are many different ways of earning a passive income, but all have similar rules of thumb. The
first is to know your audience. Don't go in trying to make money from them straight away, but start
from wanting to help them. Find out the sorts of problems that they need help solving, and seek to
solve them.
Offer them value for money, instead of wanting them to spend large amounts immediately.
Earn the trust of your audience and they will be more likely to follow you. A good way to build a
dedicated fanbase is to use social media, such as Facebook and Twitter, to keep in contact. If you
don't listen to your audience, they are less likely to help you generate income, whether through buying
your products or clicking your advertising.
The second is to find your niche. Look for gaps in the market, and consider how you can fill them. Do
some research before you begin to find popular topics and think about how you can contribute. At the
same time, don't just pick something because it is currently popular. It needs to be something you're
interested in and willing to put in the work for, because it is a project you will have to continue to put
the time in for.
To earn substantial money through passive income, you should have a diverse range of income
generators. For example, don't just have a blog. Consider having a blog, selling products, and making
YouTube videos all at the same time. This way, if one avenue fails, you have many fallback options.
The following is a selection of different ways of earning a passive income online. Of course, these
are not the only options – feel free to be creative within and outside these categories. However, this
guide will provide step-by-step instructions on how to set up your online business, designed so even
a complete beginner may follow it!
CHAPTER 2: Blogs and Websites
The easiest way to earn a passive income is through blogging. You can set up your own blog for free
through websites such as Blogger and WordPress – they are similar platforms, and choosing which
one depends entirely on your preferences. However, for the purposes of monetizing your blog, it may
be easier to use Blogger. Simply go to their website and create an account. For Blogger, you will
need a Google account.
From there, you can customise the title of your blog and the layout however you like. The websites
will provide a full walkthrough guide of how to do this. You can also set up your own domain – you
can do this through Blogger or WordPress for a small fee. If you aren't using Blogger, you will need
your own domain (for example, www.domain.com) in order to set up Google AdSense.
Alternatively, you can host your articles on a website such as HubPages. You can create an account
on the website, or sign in via Facebook. Simply visit hubpages.com and click 'Write for HubPages' in
the top right corner.
You can post your content in a particular category, so someone searching for fashion, for example,
will come across your article on fashion. HubPages calls your articles 'Hubs'. The HubPages
Learning Center is a very useful resource in teaching you how to utilise the website.
A good reason to use HubPages is because they will allow you to earn an income easily by signing up
for their affiliate and earnings programs. You will receive 60% of the total earnings from these
programs. Later you will learn how to implement these adverts on your own blog, which ensures you
take a bigger cut.
Tips for a Wider Audience
Before you start, decide what your blog will be about. Think about subjects you're interested in, and
do some research to find out if there is a demand for it. Find out the kinds of keywords people will be
searching for.
Once you have this, it's time to get started. Write articles for your blog using these keywords – this
will make sure that, when people search for those words, your blog appears. There are ways to make
your blog more popular.
One is to promote your blog all around the web, especially through social media, to reach a wide
audience. The other is more complex. This involves SEO optimisation – basically, making sure your
blog hits the top of Google searches. To do this on a large scale, businesses will have dedicated
consultants. However, for your blog, it can be done on a smaller scale.
First, find out where your blog stands in search results using a website like Alexa. Simply enter your
email address to sign up for Alexa. This is a paid service - $9.99 for a basic account – but the
information could be very useful to you in finding out the popularity of your blog.
From here, the most important aspect is making sure you use keywords and descriptions throughout
your blog. This includes the content, the image captions and the URL names. Make sure your URL
names are easily readable and describe the content, since this is what the audience will see in the
search results, and they are less likely to click if they don't know what they're clicking to.
Layout your website so it's easy to navigate. Update your content regularly and place links throughout
to other places in your blog. Above all, remember to keep promoting your blog on social media, with
links to fresh content.
The more links to your blog are shown on your account or retweeted and shared by others, the more
likely it is that people will see it. You could even partner up with other blogs by having them display
a link to your blog if you display theirs. These are all effective strategies in finding a large audience
and increasing your rankings in search results.
Enabling Adverts Using Google AdSense
This alone will not make you any money. What you need to do now is allow advertisements on your
blog. Every time someone clicks on an advert on your blog, you will receive some amount of money
depending on what they then buy. The best way to do this is using Google AdSense. This is easy if
you're using Blogger, since that is a platform owned by Google itself. On your blogger dashboard,
click the drop-down menu next to the icon with two pieces of paper and select 'Earnings'.
You will be taken to a page where you can sign up for AdSense; click the orange button. You will be
asked whether you want to continue with the Google account you are currently using, or sign up using
a different one. After that, you need to choose the language your content is written in.
You will then need to provide some information. This needs to be correct, as this is what Google uses
to send your payments. You need to enter your country, timezone, name and address. You also need to
choose whether you are using an individual or business account; you will most likely be using an
individual one, unless you using the blog for business purposes. You cannot change your account type
after it is created, so make sure you have the correct one.
You can now submit your application to AdSense. You can do this for more than one website. If you
aren't using Blogger, you can still enable AdSense on your blog. Simply click the button to start the
process. You will need a Google account in order to sign up for AdSense. If you already have one,
sign in to begin the process. Or, create a new account to get started. Once you have signed in, you
need to provide the URL of your blog, and the language that the content is written in. This is so
Google knows where to place the adverts, and in what language they need to be. Make sure you have
your own domain name.
After that, provide the same information as those who have Blogger.
To make sure your application is approved, remember to input a valid web address and your full
name as it appears on your bank statements. You need to type in your phone number, so your account
can be verified – this is to make sure you're a real person.
Your website needs to already be functioning, with some content on it. Make sure all the links are
working and that it loads correctly. These are easy mistakes to make, but also easy to remedy. Using
Google AdSense, you can make sure the adverts on your blog will be relevant to your audience,
making it more likely that they will click on something that interests them.
Google will do the hard work of finding advertisers and tracking clicks, and will pay you
automatically. You also have some control over the ads displayed, through blocking those you don't
want, and being able to arrange how the ads appear on your page, right down to the size and colour of
the adverts.
CHAPTER 3: Blogs and Websites Continued
Affiliate Offers
You can also use your blog to provide affiliate offers. You can use a website like ClickBank
(www.clickbank.com) to find offers that you think your audience will be interested in. Ideally, these
offers will have a recurring income for you. The commission rate for the products advertised is set by
the vendor, so different adverts will earn you different amounts of money. Make sure to shop around
to get the best deal for you.
First, set up an account by clicking 'Create Account' in the top right corner. You will then need to fill
in some personal information. You will need to provide your location, contact information, and your
name as it appears on your bank statement. You also need to choose a nickname and password.
Remember to read the client contract carefully.
Once you have an account, you can start selecting products. This is done in the ClickBank
Marketplace. The left hand side of the website will have a list of categories to choose from, with sub-
categories within them. You can also search for keywords and sales statistics, narrowing down your
results as you go. This makes it easy to find the exact niche your blog fulfils.
The marketplace also has links to help pages for new users, including the ClickBank help centre,
which has many suggestions on how to use the website effectively.
For example, they will explain the statistics that appear when you search for products, as well as how
best to utilise the products for your website. Take time to read through the pages if you are confused
about the website.
Once you have selected a product, click 'Promote' on the right hand side. You will receive a special
URL that you can use to promote the product. When someone clicks on this link on your blog, and then
buys the product, you will get a commission on the sale, simple as that!
Another good programme to use is the Amazon affiliate program. The commission may be smaller
than other companies. However, it has many other advantages. Amazon is a popular, well-known
website, and so your audience may be more likely to trust its adverts, and so click the link.
As well as this, you earn your commission for any Amazon product bought within 24 hours of the
person clicking the link. This means you don't just earn money for the product advertised, but any
other product the person buys as well. This can really add up – especially in cases where the product
being advertised is cheap, but can lead to other, more expensive products being bought alongside it.
To get started with the Amazon Affiliate Program, go to the URL affiliate program.amazon.com.
Click 'Join now for free'. You will be taken to a sign-in page.
If you already have an Amazon account, feel free to use that. If not, create a new one. You will then
be taken to a payee information page.
It will ask you your name, address, and phone number. You will then have to answer some questions
about your website.
You will have to provide the name and URL of your site, what it is about, and the types of products
you want to feature. Question 6 will ask the type of site: it will be Content or Niche website.
You also need to enter how else you monetize your website. Question 10 will ask the number of
unique visitors, which may be difficult to work out. For a new website, you should just enter 'Less
than 500'. After filling this out, you will need to give your phone number for verification and to
receive your unique Associates ID.
Set up your payment information, and fill out the tax review. For this you will need your tax
identification number; you will also need to provide a signature, which you can do electronically or
using a scanner.
After this, you will be an official Amazon associate!
You can use the Amazon affiliate program by providing offers for their products, or you can use it
alongside your own services. For example, you may want to write book reviews, and earn money
through Amazon affiliate links. You can also be paid directly by companies in order to review their
products. Accounts that do not have a sale in 90 days will be rejected, but you can reapply to the
program if this happens. Remember to check your Order Reports page to get an idea of what products
are selling.
Apple also has an affiliate programme, if you want to consider linking to music or apps. Simply go to
the URLhttp://www.apple.com/uk/itunes/affiliates/ and click Apply Now. It has a very similar
process to the Amazon programme, and so should be easy to follow.
Sponsors
For your most popular blog posts, consider finding a sponsor by contacting companies with similar
interests to yours. This will allow those posts to be monetised: for every click on that article, you
will be paid a small amount by the company, in exchange for advertising them on that post.
If you do this, make sure the sponsor is clearly stated in the article. This is for two reasons. By being
upfront about the sponsor, you will communicate to your audience that you are honest and upfront,
making them more likely to trust you. It also advertises the service to other potential sponsors, letting
them know that it is a potential opportunity.
You may find that one blog does not immediately make you $1000. However, having many different
blogs on different subjects has the potential to earn some major money – while clicks may not be
worth much on their own, those small numbers can add up quickly. You will have to provide some
content to keep your blog up to date and high up the Google rankings. However, this does not have to
be time-consuming; perhaps a short article a week on something that interests you.
CHAPTER 4: Building a Subscriber Base
Landing Pages
A quick and easy way to build up a subscriber base is to direct the audience to a landing page, or a
static front page, before they can view the content or product.
This page will ask for their email address in exchange for access to the content. This way, you can
see who is wanting access to the information, and you have a way of contacting them. You should be
able to set this up within the platform you are using: WordPress, for example, allows you to easily
add a static front page through their options. Blogger is more complicated than other platforms, and so
this guide will go into more detail with that.
First, you need to create a new page. Select your blog, and click 'Pages'.
Enter the page name, and then publish it. Take note of the title you choose. Visit the new page, and
copy the URL from the address bar. Make sure the subdomain name is .com; for example, that your
site is example.blogspot.com, or something similar.
Now, go to Template, and then click 'Edit HTML'.
A box with code will open up. Press Ctrl-F to bring up a search box. Find this line of code:
</b:skin>. Underneath, copy the following code, apart from the highlighted portions. The yellow
highlighted sections explain what the code is doing: it is intended to hide the header, footer and
sidebar, so all your audience sees is the main landing page. The red highlighted sections are for you
to change.
Instead of YOUR-BLOG-PAGE-URL, enter the URL you copied earlier. Replace YOUR-IMAGE
URL with the URL of the image you want to use in the background. Change #FFF to the colour code of
your choice.
Now all the distractions on the main page are hidden, you can view and edit your new landing page.
A more simple and effective way is to use www.leadpages.net, to set up professional looking landing
pages that are hosted by them, so no need for any hosting! Currently, the cheapest package is $25 per
month, but well worth it if you prefer a quicker and easier route.
Sending Emails
After you have obtained these email addresses, you can email the subscriber with a link to the content
they were looking for. You can then use an auto-responder, such as www.aweber.com, to send your
subscriber base more emails with little effort on your part.
It does cost $19 a month to begin, but this is for unlimited emails and up to 500 subscribers – costs
will go up as you gain more subscribers. You can also use a 30 day free trial. You can access a huge
amount of templates to use for your emails, as well as an image gallery. You can write many emails
ahead of time and set up the days and times you want them to go out to your subscribers – AWeber
will do this automatically.
Another good one is www.getresponse.com, a favorite of mine as it has a feature called time travel.
This neat feature means that whatever time you send out your email, it will automatically be sent to
them at the time you set, wherever they are in the world!
The passive income comes when you use this auto-responder to send your audience links to affiliate
products and offers. When these links are clicked, just like adverts on your blog, you earn money.
However, make sure you aren't just spamming your audience with these offers. Break them up with
other emails offering quality information, or the audience may get tired of adverts and unsubscribe.
CHAPTER 5: Charging for a Community
This is best done after creating your blogs and gaining a dedicated audience. Once you've established
yourself as a source for quality information, or for a good product, you can begin charging a
membership fee for access to more information or products. For example, you could charge a small
amount for access to more features on a piece of software you have created. You can do this using
PayPal, adding Buy Now and Add to Cart buttons that will direct your audience straight to the
payment page. Make sure you have a business account. If you already have a PayPal account, you can
upgrade it to a business account for free on your My Account page.
Now you can sign up to Website Payments Standard and add buttons to your website. There are many
to choose from.
To do this, go to the Button Factory. You can choose the button you want, the product the buyer is
getting, the price and postage. You can customise the text and appearance of the button. You can also
allow PayPal to track inventory, profit and loss, if you are selling a physical product.
If you have WordPress, or your website is based on a WordPress setup, you can install a plugin
called S2member, which will allow you to create a website your audience must pay to access. There
is a paid version, but the free version does all of the things you need. The plugin will handle all the
payment and subscription, and you can integrate your PayPal account. You can also add levels of
membership. Alternatively, you could leave the content free, but ask for donations using Patreon or
similar websites. For a truly passive income, you could pay other people to deliver this content for
you. This can be a great time saver; however, it does mean you must spend some time and money on
quality control.
CHAPTER 6: Making an App
Another way to earn some passive income is to create a simple app and sell it through Apple or
Android. This may sound complicated, but making an app does not necessarily require an in-depth
knowledge of coding.
There are many tutorials around the web designed to help you design your own app. For example,
Android Developers has a website that will teach you the basics of building your first Android app at
this URL: https://developer.android.com/training/basics/firstapp/index.html.
There are similar resources for making apps for iPhone. You do not have to have programming
experience to follow them, but it may take some time to learn. What app you want to create depends
on your own interests. You may want to make a simple game geared towards a large audience, or
make an informational app for cooking or exercise. You should do some research beforehand and find
a gap in the market; perhaps asking your blog audience what problems they would want solved with
an app. If you find the right niche, you may find a lot of people seeking it out.
Selling Your App
If you want to sell on Apple stores, you can join the Apple Developer Program, which will help you
develop, test and market your app. Go here to apply for that:
http://www.apple.com/uk/itunes/working-itunes/sell-content/apps/ and click 'Get Started'. To sell
apps on Google Play, you need a Publisher account, along with a regular Google account. Go to
https://play.google.com/apps/publish/signup/ to sign up for the Google Play Developer Console.
This is similar to the Apple Developer Program. You need to enter your personal information and pay
a $25 fee. Once you've gotten set up, if you want to charge for your app, sell products within the app,
or sell subscriptions to the app, you need a merchant account, which you can access through the
Developer Console by opening your Financial Reports on the sidebar.
It is important to price your app right. Most people will expect an app to be free or relatively
inexpensive, usually not more than $2. This may make it difficult to earn a good income at first.
However, there are some ways to boost this. You could have advertising on your app, charge more
for a premium service, or lock some features of the app behind a paywall. If your app is of a good
quality, you will find people willing to pay more for it.
Remember that the company, whether Apple or Google, will take a percentage of your earnings and
may require you pay a fee. Apple has a fee of $99 a year, while Google Play will require a one-time
charge of $25. Usually app stores will take 30% of your income, but this can vary.
CHAPTER 7: YouTube Videos
There are a huge amount of blogs on the internet, and you may find yours is swallowed up by the vast
amount available.
If you are confident on video, you may have more luck finding an audience on YouTube. It is easy to
set up an account and find an audience straight away, especially if you spend some time promoting
your channel. You don't necessarily need a high production value – even a webcam will do, if your
content is good enough. If you have a Google account, it will be the same account you use for
YouTube. If not, it's easy to sign up. Again, you have a lot of freedom on what you want your channel
to focus on, but make sure it is something that interests you. People will be more likely to watch your
videos if they can see you are interested and well-informed about the topic you pick.
You could create tutorials and how-to videos, review products, or simply record your thoughts on a
particular subject – you could even do all three.
Film your videos using any kind of video camera, or even your webcam – once you get a lot of
viewers, you may consider upgrading the quality, but for now just use what you have. If you are
engaging, your audience won't care. Once you've signed in, you will see the Upload button in the top
right corner. This is where you upload the videos you have created to YouTube. At first there will be
a 15 minute limit, but you can increase this if you verify your account using your phone. Drag and
drop the file with your video into the box, and YouTube will begin uploading it to the website.
Earning Money from Videos
Similar to a blog, you can use Google AdSense alongside your videos to earn money. You can enable
this through YouTube. Once signed in, click 'My channel' on the sidebar, then 'Video manager', above
your channel art.
This will take you to the Creator Studio. This has a lot of options for managing your account,
including monitoring comments on your videos and statistics. To enable monetization, click 'Channel'
on the sidebar. Click 'Enable' next to monetization. This will take you to a page allowing you to
submit your account. When YouTube approves it, this will make you a YouTube partner, with similar
benefits to using AdSense on your blog.
However, make sure your videos are eligible – this means making sure you do not use content made
by other people, such as commercial songs, without proper attribution. You can also review products
for money, or have companies sponsor your videos, like written content. But with YouTube, you can
potentially reach a wider audience. When people watch YouTube, videos with similar content will
appear on the sidebar.
This means that, when people are searching for particular videos, or even if they are simply watching
a channel they are already a fan of, they may see your video on the sidebar, and decide to follow
through. Make sure you properly tag your video to make it more likely that this will happen. If a lot of
people view your video, it might make the front page, meaning anyone who visits YouTube will see
your video before anyone else's.
CHAPTER 8: Making a Podcast
Another way to create content is through a podcast, if you are confident with your speaking voice. A
podcast is a good way to distribute niche information in an entertaining format. Simply record your
voice using a microphone and some recording software.
There are many different kinds of recording software, and many are free. For example, you can
download Audacity free for Windows, Mac and Linux fromhttp://audacityteam.org/, which has an
easy-to-use interface designed for beginners. Using this program, you can record and edit your audio.
You could also interview experts and special guests who have their own fanbase, who might be
encouraged to watch your podcast more often. You can record group discussions using software like
Skype.
Selling Your Podcast
If you have a blog already, you could host the podcast there. You cannot sell your podcast directly
through Google or Apple. However, Apple will allow you to submit your podcast feed to their
podcast directory. This means you can have your podcast on your website with an RSS feed, which
you can set up using your website platform. The RSS feed means when you have a new episode
available, it will let Apple know. To submit your podcast, go to the Podcast section of the iTunes
store.
Click 'Submit a podcast'. From here, you need to provide the link to your podcast's RSS feed.
Similar to other avenues of passive income, you can earn money by placing adverts throughout the
podcast, having sponsors for the episodes, or creating special content that the audience must pay for.
CHAPTER 9: Selling Products
Using eBay
Selling a product is possibly the most obvious way to earn an income, and you don't have to spend a
large amount of time doing it. There are many different websites you could use. eBay
(www.ebay.com) is a good way to sell unwanted items around the house, and accounts are free; you
only have to spend the time sorting through your items and listing them for auction. To list items for
auction, you need an eBay account. Once you have that, click 'Sell' in the top left corner.
From here, provide a descriptive title for your item, and click 'Get started'. eBay will guide you
through the process from there. Remember to take some pictures to show the item and provide a good
description, so people know what they are buying.
You can also use similar websites like Craigslist and Gumtree. Some items may not sell for much, if
at all; however, some could bring in a large profit. If you want to sell more items, consider looking
through garage sales for bargains and selling them on; or, you could buy products wholesale for cheap
and sell them at a profit.
If you want to make a good income out of this, it may take some research to find a niche, but it could
turn out to be very profitable.
Using Etsy
If you have a talent for crafts, like knitting or sewing, consider usingwww.etsy.com to sell easy-to-
make items. With Etsy, you can set up a shop to sell creative products or vintage items.
You could create small products that take only a small amount of time, and sell them on for a profit.
Unlike Ebay, Etsy is not an auction site, so items will be listed for at least 4 months. For this, Etsy
charge a $0.20 fee. They will also collect 3.5% of the profit of sold items. Just click 'Sell on Etsy' on
the homepage to get started.
Using CafePress
Those with a passion for design could consider making shirts. Create a design that you think may sell,
and then use a website like www.cafepress.com to sell the shirts. CafePress will make the shirts for
you, and you receive the money for it. You can also use your design for other items, such as mugs,
posters and stickers.
It is easy to upload the picture you want to sell on a shirt, and it will scale to fit the object. You can
also join the CafePress Partner Program, which will let you market CafePress products and earn
royalties. Click 'Sell' on the CafePress website, then 'Learn More' under the option you want to take.
CafePress charge a base price for the creation of the product that they will then keep. You can mark-
up the price of the product, and that is your share. If you mark up by more than $15, they will charge
an extra 5% transaction fee. For example, if you mark up an item $20, they will charge $0.25. This is
5% of the extra $5 you have gone over $15.
Self-Publishing
You can publish and sell information in the form of ebooks, DVDs or audio books, to use a few
examples. This can be new content, or you could repackage information from your blog, perhaps with
some special extras. You can either publish this yourself, or sell through a website like Amazon.
Publishing yourself means you keep a bigger portion of the profit, and allows you a larger amount of
control.
You could even use the auto-responder method here, directing the audience towards a landing page
where they must input their email address to receive the product. You can buy software that will self-
publish your books, such as Bookwright fromhttp://www.blurb.co.uk/bookwright. You can publish
photo books, magazines and ebooks. It can be pricy, charging £8.99 for a print run of 1-9 copies, but
this price goes down the more orders you place. For DVDs, you can record the video and then burn it
onto discs using free software.
Publish Through Amazon
However, there are advantages in selling through Amazon. Because Amazon is a widely-used
website, your content is more likely to gain a large audience. The profit you earn for publishing a
Kindle book can also be large, depending on how you price your product. If your ebook is priced
between $2.99 and $9.99, for example, you will earn 70% of the profit.
To sell through Amazon, go to http://www.amazonkdp.com/. You need an Amazon account to publish
your ebook; login on the front page, and accept the terms and conditions (after reading through). Once
you do this, you will be taken to your account page, where you can upload your manuscript and
provide a category and description for it. You can also create a cover, or upload one you already
have.
You can get a great cover done for only $5 at www.fiverr.com, a great site for all sorts of things!
You can also sell audiobooks through Amazon, using a similar process. This is through ACX
(http://www.acx.com/) and will also allow you to publish through Audible and iTunes. You can also
hire narrators through this service.
Setting Up Online Courses
If you have a special expertise in a subject, set up an online course to teach others. You could charge
a small amount for the classes, and for the course materials you create to accompany them. You can
do this through your blog, or though particular websites. Udemy lets you host your course on their
website and on your own, allowing you to have two avenues of traffic. It is geared towards video
courses, so this is a good option if you are comfortable on video. To do this, click 'Become an
Instructor' in the top right corner.
You can then start creating your course by entering the title. From here, you can upload videos and
create exercises and materials for your students to use. Udemy will also provide you with coupon
codes, which let you earn 97% of the sale gotten with them, and give you a landing page.
www.litmos.com is another website that lets you create an online course with your own branding,
domain name and landing page, letting you differentiate your product from other courses and
customise to your desires. They offer a free trial to get started, which you can sign up for using your
Google account, LinkedIn or Facebook. They are more focused on employee training than on e-
learning, but they are similar concepts, and so you can apply your online course to their methods.
Creating a course on one of these websites, as opposed to your blog, will mean they keep some
commission; this is usually about 30%. However, these websites may have more traffic and so allow
for larger classes. They will also make sure your course is promoted throughout their website, to give
you every opportunity to succeed.
Conclusion
This is just a small sample of the ways you can make a passive income online. You can combine any
number of these, and use them as creatively as you like.
Having many ways in which you can earn money is a good way to protect against potential failures –
if your items on eBay aren't selling, for example, you would still have your blog and YouTube videos.
You could even advertise your eBay shop on your blogs and videos. Once you've used this guide to
set up your business, you could try and branch out, thinking outside the box to find even more ways of
earning.
You won't earn your first $1000 overnight. It will take some time to set up your business, whatever
you decide to make it and some more time for your online promotion to bring in an audience.
However, if you are determined to make a passive income and you are willing to put in this time and
effort at first, you will find that the money will soon come to you, and keep coming, month after
month.

BONUS SECTION
Here is your bonus section: a 3000 word report on how to use social marketing – a must if you
want to build a long-term, sustainable and successful affiliate marketing business.
3 Fool Proof Ways to Use Social Media to Boost
Your Internet Marketing Efforts
When you enter the world of internet marketing, you are embarking on a brand new business venture,
with all of the pitfalls and decisions that would come with any other form of entrepreneurship.
There are many facets and many things at work that we can't get into in one report, but I would like to
get you started with something that you already use every day, but may not be using correctly...social
media.
Just like most modern companies, you will need a strong social media presence if you want to survive
and thrive among your competitors.
That's why, for this report, I want to prepare you for the world of social media and how to use it to
boost your marketing efforts to new heights!
Now, I know you're aware of social media and you may even feel like you're an expert. I'm here to
tell you that there is a significant difference between your personal Facebook page and running a
social media campaign for your company!
You have to have a deeper understanding of your customers, how to respond to them and what kinds
of posts they are looking for. If you nail it on the head, you get a host of new customers. If you do it
wrong, you could end up haemorrhaging customers daily!
I want to give you three fool proof ways that you can use social media to supplement your marketing
efforts and really push your sales and overall success.
If you follow my advice, you'll see and incremental increase in your sales! If you don't...well...that's
up to you.
So, prepare yourself! You're about to learn a thing or two!
1. Opening a Dialogue
Opening up a dialogue for conversation is one of the most important ways to engage your customers
and make them feel like there is person on the other side of the screen.
No one wants to be hit with message after message with little to no feedback when they reply.
Think about it, when was the last time you were on Facebook and you reached out to a company that
you liked or had questions about and they never replied? How did that make you feel? I bet you were
a little bitter.
This bitterness can manifest in a variety of ways, from avoiding the product to actually becoming a
detractor and smearing the company for its lack of empathy.
Keeping an open dialogue with your customers can save your relationships with the customers who
are on the fence and can strengthen the relationship with customers who are already fans.
There are many different reasons to open up a dialogue and in this report, I wanted to go over a few
of the more important ones.
Feedback From Customers
Customers feedback can help to determine the direction that your company takes in the future. You
may have a very definite view of what your company and your product should look like, but after
hearing back from your customers, you may see that your views need to change.
Customer feedback is the ultimate litmus test for if what you are doing is effective or just a waste of
your time. Customers tend to be honest and—especially over social media—they won't sugar-coat
things.
Let's say that you have a customer that has joined your blog and didn't quite understand how a specific
blog was relevant to your overall message.
You may have a healthy eating blog where you post an article about hypnotherapy. Right off the bat,
someone may come to you confused about what this has to do with their eating habits.
This gives you the opportunity to respond by letting them know that hypnotherapy can be used to
suppress urges for eating bad foods.
Bam! You've just reached out and kept a fan, as well as answering this question for others.
On the other hand, if you weren't available to answer this question, this may have sparked a full on
debate on your social media, which could lead to anger, more confusion and even people
unsubscribing.
Because you failed to answer one simple question that would have taken you a few moments to
answer, you've struck up a controversy that could cause real damage to your company!
Responding to feedback from customers can change the customer's perception, open up a dialogue and
let you know what is working and what isn't working with your company.
Just as importantly, you will be better able to build the trust and respect of your customers by
showing them that you care enough about their questions and feedback to take time out of your day to
answer them.
They get an answer to their question and you get to maintain the support of a customer. It's a win-win!
Business Connections
Social media has become an excellent and even necessary way to reach out to other businesses. This
is especially so for businesses that are based online.
Networking is key to the growth of any business. You need to be able to communicate with others in a
way that you can express your needs, discuss their needs and find a way that you can be mutually
beneficial.
There are many ways to reach out over social media, so let's discuss a few different platforms and
how to reach companies directly through these platforms:
Facebook
Facebook allows for connection is many different ways. You can start off slowly by liking a few of
their photos and commenting on a few of their posts. From there you can begin to build a relationship
and plant the idea of your business in their head.
You can even take it a step further by reposting some of their posts on your wall. This is giving them
free advertising, which I'm sure they will appreciate.
Once they have a better feel for who you are, you can approach them via private message. Start off
small with inquiries about their company. They will love to talk about themselves.
From there, identify some needs and finally, address how you feel you could best solve some of their
needs with your product.
I know this takes a while and you still may get a "No," but a "Yes," could be a game changer!
Twitter
Twitter is a little tricky because there are so few characters to work with. Like with Facebook, you
can share their tweets and even favorite their tweets. You can tweet them questions and comment on
their tweets by tweeting back at them.
Twitter can be a little easier to get lost in the shuffle and if they have a lot of followers, you have to
really make your presence know.
After establishing a basic relationship, you can take this engagement to private message and really let
them know what you are all about!
LinkedIn
LinkedIn is built for business networking! If you join LinkedIn and don't think someone is going to
reach out to you to network, you obviously don't understand the platform.
The good thing about LinkedIn is it gives you the opportunity to make more warm connections. You
can get involved in groups in your field and use your network of business partners to reach out to
others.
You can also look for companies that are in your niche and reach out to them directly.
LinkedIn is probably your best bet to make simple business connections, but it's also the most
obvious, which can work against you.
All three of these platforms have positives and pitfalls. It's up to you to discover which works best
for you!
Answering Questions
As with the feedback section, social media allows you to answers frequently asked questions to a
bigger audience, instead of addressing each of these issues one at a time.
This also allows fans and customers to ask you questions that you may not have considered, which
can actually serve to change your business practices and better understand your customer base.
Answering customer's questions can be as easy as jumping on social media, checking out their post on
your page and shooting them back a quick response. They will feel like they are appreciated as a
customer and they will be more likely to buy from you.
Especially in internet marketing, you'll probably get a lot of questions revolving around your
credibility and the credibility of your affiliates.
If you are able to address these inquiries head-on, you can put your customers at ease that there is a
real person out there that is looking out for their best interest.
On the other hand, if you let these questions slip between the cracks, you will very quickly lose the
trust of your customers, which will lead to a drop in your sales.
Answering questions is quick and easy and it really could save you thousands of dollars! One quick
response here and there could help to hold on to a customer that is making you hundreds of dollars a
year.
I'd say that's worth it!
Reaching Out To New Customers
One of the most important parts of opening up a dialogue is speaking with new customers. You can
easily use social media to spread the word of your amazing internet marketing company and get
people excited and on board.
If you do it correctly, you can build trust with your clients before they even take advantage of your
services!
Imagine if a company reached out to you in a field that you really liked. Say you're training to be an
MMA fighter and a company that makes fight gear reached out to you, showing interest in your career.
They let you know that they have some of the best gear in the market that they think will improve your
fight game. If you are willing to "like" their page and give them some feedback, they'll send to over a
free product and give you a discount on other products.
What would you think of this company? Would they be bugging you?
I'd wager that you'd love this company and welcome them reaching out to you! They've made your life
better by getting a hold of you and you will gratefully fork over some cash.
The point here is that you have a service or product that you know your customers will love and if
you identify the right consumers and reach out to them, they will be happy that you took the time.
You can reach out to new customers on any medium, but the method changes significantly from
medium to medium.
Facebook, for instance, has made it a lot more difficult to reach out to customers directly, so instead
you may have to use Facebook ads to get a hold of them.
Twitter, on the other hand, still allows open lines of communication and with the hashtag function,
you are better able to search for people who are discussing your niche and get in on the conversation.
From there, you can show new customers what you are all about and you can transition to sales and
customer loyalty, while building your overall fan base.
Sure, opening a dialogue takes some time and effort, but if you are able to put in that extra time, you
will see incredible results!
Social media is for everyone to be social, including your business. Take advantage of this and launch
a campaign that will leave an impression with potential customers and other businesses!
2. Direct Marketing
Obviously you want to use social media to market your products and you don't always want to use the
roundabout approach. There is nothing wrong with being direct, just know that there will be more
money involved.
Either way with marketing, it's going to cost you time or money and as they say, "time is money," so it
really depends on what kind of currency you are willing to spend.
If you have the extra cash, though, I would suggest investing in some direct marketing through social
media to yield the best results and make sure enough eyeballs see your product.
Here are some ways that you can use direct marketing to increase your sales and brand awareness.
Advertising New Products
Whether someone is already a fan of yours or they are new to your market, new products have a
tendency to get people really revved up and excited.
You can use your social media platform to keep the public aware of new products as they become
available and even more importantly, you can rev up the interest for that new product before it has
even been launched.
Let's look at something as simple as a movie trailer.
Studios have gotten smart and they generally start a social media campaign as soon as the movie has
been green lit.
From there, the hype builds with what is essentially a teaser machine. It may start as small as photos
of the posters for the movie, photos of the cast or behind the scenes images.
Over time, as the project develops, little clips may be released to give people a taste of what is to
come. These may be as short as ten seconds, but even that is enough to make fans explode with
anticipation.
As the movie nears its premiere, they drop the big bomb—a trailer! People go insane and they share
this trailer on their walls so everyone they know can see how awesome this movie will be!
Imagine if you took this approach with your product. Imagine if you built a launch slowly, over time,
with titbits that would hype up your audience. Imagine if you took this a step further and started
releasing ads that teased just enough to get people excited enough to follow you page.
This seems like a winning approach, doesn't it? Well then, use it!
Use your social media to your advantage to hype up new products. This will help to maintain your
current audience and will bring new customers into the fold.
Affiliate Products
Social media allows you to reach your audience more directly than anything else. Sure, your goal is to
get them to subscribe to your newsletter, but what better way to tease your newsletter than giving them
access to your affiliates?
I know this sounds strange, but hear me out. If you can begin hyping your affiliates before they even
join your newsletter, they will be WAY more likely to buy once they join. This doesn't mean that you
have to give away the info for the product for free. You can still affiliate market or let them know
about the program without giving the name.
Make it seem like giving them access to the affiliate products that you know will help them is a
reward. This may give them more incentive to bite and will get them ready for the affiliate emails
before you even start sending them.
Pushing Traffic To Your Website
This is the primary goal for most internet marketers. No matter what technique you use to get people
there, at the end of the day, you want them to get to your website so they'll subscribe to your
newsletter.
If they don't get to your website, they won't subscribe. If they don't subscribe, all of your efforts will
be effectively meaningless.
Getting people to sign up for a newsletter can be difficult and it really may come down to the
wording.
If you sell people on the idea that your website will give them all the answers that they need, they
will be much more likely to click. If you tell them to go to your website so they can sign up for an
email newsletter, there's a good chance no one will click.
It's likely that you've spend some good money on your landing page. It's time to put that page to work!
There's a reason why all the most successful internet marketers use landing pages. You need to hype
up your newsletter before you capture their emails and often the best way to do this is to give them a
free gift and a promise of quality content.
So, how do you use social media to drive traffic to your website?
Well, there are a couple of different approaches.
One is the approach that we were talking about earlier, with engaging your audience. Once you've
gotten them to "like" your page or you've engaged them in conversation, you can send out posts asking
them to check out your website.
You don't want to flood your page with these, but you also don't want them to be sparse. A balance is
important.
The other way is more direct, which is advertising through social media.
Facebook, for instance, has an excellent advertising tool that allows you to reach thousands of people
for a pretty marginal price. This will get you lots of impressions, which will increase the chance for
clicks.
With these ads, your call to action can be to "like" the page or go directly to the website. Try out both
and see what works better for you and your specific business. Either way, promise them great, FREE
content and even that free gift.
People want something for nothing, at least initially, and once you've gained their trust, they will be
more likely to take your opinion and buy from you.
One way or another, these ads will drive traffic, which will lead to more sales. Once again, this is
going to cost you a bit of money and you may even want to consider hiring someone to write your ads
for you.
We all like to think of ourselves as social media experts, but in reality, most of us don't have a
business degree or marketing background.
Once you've captured your potential customer's attention and gotten them to the website, it all comes
down to the newsletter. If you sell them on the free gift or the merits of the newsletter, you'll get
clicks.
From there, it's up to you to have a killer newsletter that will keep them reading and keep them loyal.
This may actually work towards feeding your social media campaign, as happy customers will tell
their friends and share your page on their social media!
3. Content Creation
In order to succeed as an internet marketer, you have to learn to understand how to utilize content to
keep the interest of your follower and gain a new audience.
While people will be willing to spend money once you've gained their trust, most of your audience is
going to be following you for the free content that you provide.
You may be thinking, "Wait, what? So, how is this a viable business model?" That's a good question
and it seems like a strange idea to be giving people things for free when you are trying to make
money, but by the time I'm done with this section, you'll understand just why it is that you need to
provide top of the line content for free mixed in with your paid offers.
Why give them free content?
So, let's start with the initial question that most people are probably asking...why free content at all?
How am I going to benefit from giving my customers something for free?
The reason is a lot simpler than you'd think.
Providing your customers and potential customers with free content may feel like a loss, but in reality
you are building your credibility, building their trust and keeping their attention.
In order for your customers to be comfortable with giving you their money, they need to know that you
have a good idea of what you are talking about. By giving them free content, even things like videos
and articles you have found online, you establish that you know what you are talking about and are
well read on the topic.
Once they know you are credible, they want to know they can trust you. If everything you send them or
post on your social media is clickbait, they are going to see your financial incentives and they are
going to think that you're only reason for posting is to make money (which, in reality is true, but you
don't want them to think that!).
If you vary your content with free content and sales content, they will begin to see you as a credible
expert who is looking out for their best interest by showing them products that they can benefit from.
Finally, you are keeping them reading your posts, clicking and engaging with you when you give them
food for thought mixed in with sales posts. You have to keep the conversation going and you have to
keep people interested if you want them to stick around.
What kind of content?
When I say free content, I don't mean giving them your entire life's work on a silver plate. You have to
find a balance between them getting enough to keep them interested and them getting so much that your
product or affiliates become obsolete.
Give them a gem here and there, but mostly give them things that make them think a little bit and get
them excited about moving forward.
How much is too much?
Keep your posts to a reasonable level, but at the same time, don't be a ghost. You should post at least
once a day, two if possible and three if you can realistically find something to say.
Try to mix it up so there are more content posts than sales posts, but even then, don't make your sales
posts too scarce. You want them to be accustomed to you asking for and telling them things.
Don't go crazy, but make sure to respond on social media and keep your customers engaged.
Social media can make or break your online marketing efforts. If you can open a dialogue, market
effectively and create good content, they will follow you, buy from you and come back for more! If
not, your online business may start circling the drain.
Take these tips, use your social media effectively and hit me up when you make your first million!

This guide will teach you several ways to get your online business going. Soon, you’ll be earning your first $1000 through passive income! Thanks again for downloading this book, I hope you enjoy it!
  • 8. CHAPTER 1: The Basics of Passive Income What is passive income? Some forms of online income may require a lot of time and energy. Passive income, though, is earned without the necessity of real-time input. You can create an online business and let it run, reaping the benefits without having to babysit an active company. It does require some time upfront, sometimes a large amount, and you do need to keep an eye on it – but once it's set up, it can be an easy way to generate money. Earning a passive income requires hard work, dedication and the courage to take risks. Not all of these methods will work for you, and at first you may fail. This guide will teach you the hardest part: how to get started. Once you've gotten up and running, your first $1000 should come in no time. What is affiliate marketing? Affiliate marketing is a common way of earning a passive income, and is one that, once set up, requires little work for you to maintain. Simply put, you provide advertising space for a company, and in return, you earn a small amount for every person who clicks that advertising. The commission may seem small at first, but if you have a large audience, all those clicks will add up. A good way to earn a passive income is to have many different blogs or websites, all affiliated with different companies, in order to reach the widest audience possible. Most of the strategies listed in this guide will rely on some form of affiliate marketing. Tips to generate passive income There are many different ways of earning a passive income, but all have similar rules of thumb. The first is to know your audience. Don't go in trying to make money from them straight away, but start from wanting to help them. Find out the sorts of problems that they need help solving, and seek to solve them. Offer them value for money, instead of wanting them to spend large amounts immediately. Earn the trust of your audience and they will be more likely to follow you. A good way to build a dedicated fanbase is to use social media, such as Facebook and Twitter, to keep in contact. If you don't listen to your audience, they are less likely to help you generate income, whether through buying your products or clicking your advertising. The second is to find your niche. Look for gaps in the market, and consider how you can fill them. Do some research before you begin to find popular topics and think about how you can contribute. At the same time, don't just pick something because it is currently popular. It needs to be something you're interested in and willing to put in the work for, because it is a project you will have to continue to put the time in for.
  • 9. To earn substantial money through passive income, you should have a diverse range of income generators. For example, don't just have a blog. Consider having a blog, selling products, and making YouTube videos all at the same time. This way, if one avenue fails, you have many fallback options. The following is a selection of different ways of earning a passive income online. Of course, these are not the only options – feel free to be creative within and outside these categories. However, this guide will provide step-by-step instructions on how to set up your online business, designed so even a complete beginner may follow it!
  • 10. CHAPTER 2: Blogs and Websites The easiest way to earn a passive income is through blogging. You can set up your own blog for free through websites such as Blogger and WordPress – they are similar platforms, and choosing which one depends entirely on your preferences. However, for the purposes of monetizing your blog, it may be easier to use Blogger. Simply go to their website and create an account. For Blogger, you will need a Google account. From there, you can customise the title of your blog and the layout however you like. The websites will provide a full walkthrough guide of how to do this. You can also set up your own domain – you can do this through Blogger or WordPress for a small fee. If you aren't using Blogger, you will need your own domain (for example, www.domain.com) in order to set up Google AdSense. Alternatively, you can host your articles on a website such as HubPages. You can create an account on the website, or sign in via Facebook. Simply visit hubpages.com and click 'Write for HubPages' in the top right corner. You can post your content in a particular category, so someone searching for fashion, for example, will come across your article on fashion. HubPages calls your articles 'Hubs'. The HubPages Learning Center is a very useful resource in teaching you how to utilise the website. A good reason to use HubPages is because they will allow you to earn an income easily by signing up for their affiliate and earnings programs. You will receive 60% of the total earnings from these programs. Later you will learn how to implement these adverts on your own blog, which ensures you take a bigger cut.
  • 11. Tips for a Wider Audience Before you start, decide what your blog will be about. Think about subjects you're interested in, and do some research to find out if there is a demand for it. Find out the kinds of keywords people will be searching for. Once you have this, it's time to get started. Write articles for your blog using these keywords – this will make sure that, when people search for those words, your blog appears. There are ways to make your blog more popular. One is to promote your blog all around the web, especially through social media, to reach a wide audience. The other is more complex. This involves SEO optimisation – basically, making sure your blog hits the top of Google searches. To do this on a large scale, businesses will have dedicated consultants. However, for your blog, it can be done on a smaller scale. First, find out where your blog stands in search results using a website like Alexa. Simply enter your email address to sign up for Alexa. This is a paid service - $9.99 for a basic account – but the information could be very useful to you in finding out the popularity of your blog. From here, the most important aspect is making sure you use keywords and descriptions throughout your blog. This includes the content, the image captions and the URL names. Make sure your URL names are easily readable and describe the content, since this is what the audience will see in the search results, and they are less likely to click if they don't know what they're clicking to. Layout your website so it's easy to navigate. Update your content regularly and place links throughout to other places in your blog. Above all, remember to keep promoting your blog on social media, with links to fresh content. The more links to your blog are shown on your account or retweeted and shared by others, the more likely it is that people will see it. You could even partner up with other blogs by having them display a link to your blog if you display theirs. These are all effective strategies in finding a large audience and increasing your rankings in search results. Enabling Adverts Using Google AdSense This alone will not make you any money. What you need to do now is allow advertisements on your blog. Every time someone clicks on an advert on your blog, you will receive some amount of money depending on what they then buy. The best way to do this is using Google AdSense. This is easy if you're using Blogger, since that is a platform owned by Google itself. On your blogger dashboard, click the drop-down menu next to the icon with two pieces of paper and select 'Earnings'.
  • 12. You will be taken to a page where you can sign up for AdSense; click the orange button. You will be asked whether you want to continue with the Google account you are currently using, or sign up using a different one. After that, you need to choose the language your content is written in.
  • 13. You will then need to provide some information. This needs to be correct, as this is what Google uses to send your payments. You need to enter your country, timezone, name and address. You also need to choose whether you are using an individual or business account; you will most likely be using an individual one, unless you using the blog for business purposes. You cannot change your account type after it is created, so make sure you have the correct one.
  • 14. You can now submit your application to AdSense. You can do this for more than one website. If you aren't using Blogger, you can still enable AdSense on your blog. Simply click the button to start the process. You will need a Google account in order to sign up for AdSense. If you already have one, sign in to begin the process. Or, create a new account to get started. Once you have signed in, you need to provide the URL of your blog, and the language that the content is written in. This is so Google knows where to place the adverts, and in what language they need to be. Make sure you have your own domain name. After that, provide the same information as those who have Blogger. To make sure your application is approved, remember to input a valid web address and your full name as it appears on your bank statements. You need to type in your phone number, so your account
  • 15. can be verified – this is to make sure you're a real person. Your website needs to already be functioning, with some content on it. Make sure all the links are working and that it loads correctly. These are easy mistakes to make, but also easy to remedy. Using Google AdSense, you can make sure the adverts on your blog will be relevant to your audience, making it more likely that they will click on something that interests them. Google will do the hard work of finding advertisers and tracking clicks, and will pay you automatically. You also have some control over the ads displayed, through blocking those you don't want, and being able to arrange how the ads appear on your page, right down to the size and colour of the adverts.
  • 16. CHAPTER 3: Blogs and Websites Continued Affiliate Offers You can also use your blog to provide affiliate offers. You can use a website like ClickBank (www.clickbank.com) to find offers that you think your audience will be interested in. Ideally, these offers will have a recurring income for you. The commission rate for the products advertised is set by the vendor, so different adverts will earn you different amounts of money. Make sure to shop around to get the best deal for you. First, set up an account by clicking 'Create Account' in the top right corner. You will then need to fill in some personal information. You will need to provide your location, contact information, and your name as it appears on your bank statement. You also need to choose a nickname and password. Remember to read the client contract carefully. Once you have an account, you can start selecting products. This is done in the ClickBank Marketplace. The left hand side of the website will have a list of categories to choose from, with sub- categories within them. You can also search for keywords and sales statistics, narrowing down your results as you go. This makes it easy to find the exact niche your blog fulfils. The marketplace also has links to help pages for new users, including the ClickBank help centre, which has many suggestions on how to use the website effectively. For example, they will explain the statistics that appear when you search for products, as well as how best to utilise the products for your website. Take time to read through the pages if you are confused about the website.
  • 17. Once you have selected a product, click 'Promote' on the right hand side. You will receive a special URL that you can use to promote the product. When someone clicks on this link on your blog, and then buys the product, you will get a commission on the sale, simple as that! Another good programme to use is the Amazon affiliate program. The commission may be smaller than other companies. However, it has many other advantages. Amazon is a popular, well-known website, and so your audience may be more likely to trust its adverts, and so click the link. As well as this, you earn your commission for any Amazon product bought within 24 hours of the person clicking the link. This means you don't just earn money for the product advertised, but any other product the person buys as well. This can really add up – especially in cases where the product being advertised is cheap, but can lead to other, more expensive products being bought alongside it. To get started with the Amazon Affiliate Program, go to the URL affiliate program.amazon.com. Click 'Join now for free'. You will be taken to a sign-in page. If you already have an Amazon account, feel free to use that. If not, create a new one. You will then be taken to a payee information page. It will ask you your name, address, and phone number. You will then have to answer some questions about your website.
  • 18. You will have to provide the name and URL of your site, what it is about, and the types of products you want to feature. Question 6 will ask the type of site: it will be Content or Niche website. You also need to enter how else you monetize your website. Question 10 will ask the number of unique visitors, which may be difficult to work out. For a new website, you should just enter 'Less than 500'. After filling this out, you will need to give your phone number for verification and to
  • 19. receive your unique Associates ID. Set up your payment information, and fill out the tax review. For this you will need your tax identification number; you will also need to provide a signature, which you can do electronically or using a scanner. After this, you will be an official Amazon associate! You can use the Amazon affiliate program by providing offers for their products, or you can use it alongside your own services. For example, you may want to write book reviews, and earn money through Amazon affiliate links. You can also be paid directly by companies in order to review their products. Accounts that do not have a sale in 90 days will be rejected, but you can reapply to the program if this happens. Remember to check your Order Reports page to get an idea of what products are selling. Apple also has an affiliate programme, if you want to consider linking to music or apps. Simply go to the URLhttp://www.apple.com/uk/itunes/affiliates/ and click Apply Now. It has a very similar process to the Amazon programme, and so should be easy to follow. Sponsors For your most popular blog posts, consider finding a sponsor by contacting companies with similar interests to yours. This will allow those posts to be monetised: for every click on that article, you will be paid a small amount by the company, in exchange for advertising them on that post. If you do this, make sure the sponsor is clearly stated in the article. This is for two reasons. By being upfront about the sponsor, you will communicate to your audience that you are honest and upfront, making them more likely to trust you. It also advertises the service to other potential sponsors, letting them know that it is a potential opportunity. You may find that one blog does not immediately make you $1000. However, having many different blogs on different subjects has the potential to earn some major money – while clicks may not be worth much on their own, those small numbers can add up quickly. You will have to provide some content to keep your blog up to date and high up the Google rankings. However, this does not have to
  • 20. be time-consuming; perhaps a short article a week on something that interests you.
  • 21. CHAPTER 4: Building a Subscriber Base Landing Pages A quick and easy way to build up a subscriber base is to direct the audience to a landing page, or a static front page, before they can view the content or product. This page will ask for their email address in exchange for access to the content. This way, you can see who is wanting access to the information, and you have a way of contacting them. You should be able to set this up within the platform you are using: WordPress, for example, allows you to easily add a static front page through their options. Blogger is more complicated than other platforms, and so this guide will go into more detail with that. First, you need to create a new page. Select your blog, and click 'Pages'. Enter the page name, and then publish it. Take note of the title you choose. Visit the new page, and copy the URL from the address bar. Make sure the subdomain name is .com; for example, that your site is example.blogspot.com, or something similar. Now, go to Template, and then click 'Edit HTML'.
  • 22. A box with code will open up. Press Ctrl-F to bring up a search box. Find this line of code: </b:skin>. Underneath, copy the following code, apart from the highlighted portions. The yellow highlighted sections explain what the code is doing: it is intended to hide the header, footer and sidebar, so all your audience sees is the main landing page. The red highlighted sections are for you to change. Instead of YOUR-BLOG-PAGE-URL, enter the URL you copied earlier. Replace YOUR-IMAGE URL with the URL of the image you want to use in the background. Change #FFF to the colour code of your choice.
  • 23. Now all the distractions on the main page are hidden, you can view and edit your new landing page. A more simple and effective way is to use www.leadpages.net, to set up professional looking landing pages that are hosted by them, so no need for any hosting! Currently, the cheapest package is $25 per month, but well worth it if you prefer a quicker and easier route. Sending Emails After you have obtained these email addresses, you can email the subscriber with a link to the content they were looking for. You can then use an auto-responder, such as www.aweber.com, to send your subscriber base more emails with little effort on your part. It does cost $19 a month to begin, but this is for unlimited emails and up to 500 subscribers – costs will go up as you gain more subscribers. You can also use a 30 day free trial. You can access a huge amount of templates to use for your emails, as well as an image gallery. You can write many emails ahead of time and set up the days and times you want them to go out to your subscribers – AWeber will do this automatically. Another good one is www.getresponse.com, a favorite of mine as it has a feature called time travel. This neat feature means that whatever time you send out your email, it will automatically be sent to them at the time you set, wherever they are in the world! The passive income comes when you use this auto-responder to send your audience links to affiliate products and offers. When these links are clicked, just like adverts on your blog, you earn money. However, make sure you aren't just spamming your audience with these offers. Break them up with other emails offering quality information, or the audience may get tired of adverts and unsubscribe.
  • 24. CHAPTER 5: Charging for a Community This is best done after creating your blogs and gaining a dedicated audience. Once you've established yourself as a source for quality information, or for a good product, you can begin charging a membership fee for access to more information or products. For example, you could charge a small amount for access to more features on a piece of software you have created. You can do this using PayPal, adding Buy Now and Add to Cart buttons that will direct your audience straight to the payment page. Make sure you have a business account. If you already have a PayPal account, you can upgrade it to a business account for free on your My Account page. Now you can sign up to Website Payments Standard and add buttons to your website. There are many to choose from. To do this, go to the Button Factory. You can choose the button you want, the product the buyer is getting, the price and postage. You can customise the text and appearance of the button. You can also
  • 25. allow PayPal to track inventory, profit and loss, if you are selling a physical product. If you have WordPress, or your website is based on a WordPress setup, you can install a plugin called S2member, which will allow you to create a website your audience must pay to access. There is a paid version, but the free version does all of the things you need. The plugin will handle all the payment and subscription, and you can integrate your PayPal account. You can also add levels of membership. Alternatively, you could leave the content free, but ask for donations using Patreon or similar websites. For a truly passive income, you could pay other people to deliver this content for you. This can be a great time saver; however, it does mean you must spend some time and money on quality control.
  • 26. CHAPTER 6: Making an App Another way to earn some passive income is to create a simple app and sell it through Apple or Android. This may sound complicated, but making an app does not necessarily require an in-depth knowledge of coding. There are many tutorials around the web designed to help you design your own app. For example, Android Developers has a website that will teach you the basics of building your first Android app at this URL: https://developer.android.com/training/basics/firstapp/index.html. There are similar resources for making apps for iPhone. You do not have to have programming experience to follow them, but it may take some time to learn. What app you want to create depends on your own interests. You may want to make a simple game geared towards a large audience, or make an informational app for cooking or exercise. You should do some research beforehand and find a gap in the market; perhaps asking your blog audience what problems they would want solved with an app. If you find the right niche, you may find a lot of people seeking it out. Selling Your App If you want to sell on Apple stores, you can join the Apple Developer Program, which will help you develop, test and market your app. Go here to apply for that: http://www.apple.com/uk/itunes/working-itunes/sell-content/apps/ and click 'Get Started'. To sell apps on Google Play, you need a Publisher account, along with a regular Google account. Go to https://play.google.com/apps/publish/signup/ to sign up for the Google Play Developer Console.
  • 27. This is similar to the Apple Developer Program. You need to enter your personal information and pay a $25 fee. Once you've gotten set up, if you want to charge for your app, sell products within the app, or sell subscriptions to the app, you need a merchant account, which you can access through the Developer Console by opening your Financial Reports on the sidebar. It is important to price your app right. Most people will expect an app to be free or relatively inexpensive, usually not more than $2. This may make it difficult to earn a good income at first. However, there are some ways to boost this. You could have advertising on your app, charge more for a premium service, or lock some features of the app behind a paywall. If your app is of a good quality, you will find people willing to pay more for it. Remember that the company, whether Apple or Google, will take a percentage of your earnings and may require you pay a fee. Apple has a fee of $99 a year, while Google Play will require a one-time charge of $25. Usually app stores will take 30% of your income, but this can vary.
  • 28. CHAPTER 7: YouTube Videos There are a huge amount of blogs on the internet, and you may find yours is swallowed up by the vast amount available. If you are confident on video, you may have more luck finding an audience on YouTube. It is easy to set up an account and find an audience straight away, especially if you spend some time promoting your channel. You don't necessarily need a high production value – even a webcam will do, if your content is good enough. If you have a Google account, it will be the same account you use for YouTube. If not, it's easy to sign up. Again, you have a lot of freedom on what you want your channel to focus on, but make sure it is something that interests you. People will be more likely to watch your videos if they can see you are interested and well-informed about the topic you pick. You could create tutorials and how-to videos, review products, or simply record your thoughts on a particular subject – you could even do all three. Film your videos using any kind of video camera, or even your webcam – once you get a lot of viewers, you may consider upgrading the quality, but for now just use what you have. If you are engaging, your audience won't care. Once you've signed in, you will see the Upload button in the top right corner. This is where you upload the videos you have created to YouTube. At first there will be a 15 minute limit, but you can increase this if you verify your account using your phone. Drag and drop the file with your video into the box, and YouTube will begin uploading it to the website.
  • 29. Earning Money from Videos Similar to a blog, you can use Google AdSense alongside your videos to earn money. You can enable this through YouTube. Once signed in, click 'My channel' on the sidebar, then 'Video manager', above your channel art. This will take you to the Creator Studio. This has a lot of options for managing your account, including monitoring comments on your videos and statistics. To enable monetization, click 'Channel' on the sidebar. Click 'Enable' next to monetization. This will take you to a page allowing you to submit your account. When YouTube approves it, this will make you a YouTube partner, with similar benefits to using AdSense on your blog. However, make sure your videos are eligible – this means making sure you do not use content made by other people, such as commercial songs, without proper attribution. You can also review products for money, or have companies sponsor your videos, like written content. But with YouTube, you can potentially reach a wider audience. When people watch YouTube, videos with similar content will appear on the sidebar. This means that, when people are searching for particular videos, or even if they are simply watching a channel they are already a fan of, they may see your video on the sidebar, and decide to follow through. Make sure you properly tag your video to make it more likely that this will happen. If a lot of people view your video, it might make the front page, meaning anyone who visits YouTube will see your video before anyone else's.
  • 30. CHAPTER 8: Making a Podcast Another way to create content is through a podcast, if you are confident with your speaking voice. A podcast is a good way to distribute niche information in an entertaining format. Simply record your voice using a microphone and some recording software. There are many different kinds of recording software, and many are free. For example, you can download Audacity free for Windows, Mac and Linux fromhttp://audacityteam.org/, which has an easy-to-use interface designed for beginners. Using this program, you can record and edit your audio. You could also interview experts and special guests who have their own fanbase, who might be encouraged to watch your podcast more often. You can record group discussions using software like Skype. Selling Your Podcast If you have a blog already, you could host the podcast there. You cannot sell your podcast directly through Google or Apple. However, Apple will allow you to submit your podcast feed to their podcast directory. This means you can have your podcast on your website with an RSS feed, which you can set up using your website platform. The RSS feed means when you have a new episode available, it will let Apple know. To submit your podcast, go to the Podcast section of the iTunes store.
  • 31. Click 'Submit a podcast'. From here, you need to provide the link to your podcast's RSS feed. Similar to other avenues of passive income, you can earn money by placing adverts throughout the podcast, having sponsors for the episodes, or creating special content that the audience must pay for.
  • 32. CHAPTER 9: Selling Products Using eBay Selling a product is possibly the most obvious way to earn an income, and you don't have to spend a large amount of time doing it. There are many different websites you could use. eBay (www.ebay.com) is a good way to sell unwanted items around the house, and accounts are free; you only have to spend the time sorting through your items and listing them for auction. To list items for auction, you need an eBay account. Once you have that, click 'Sell' in the top left corner. From here, provide a descriptive title for your item, and click 'Get started'. eBay will guide you through the process from there. Remember to take some pictures to show the item and provide a good description, so people know what they are buying. You can also use similar websites like Craigslist and Gumtree. Some items may not sell for much, if at all; however, some could bring in a large profit. If you want to sell more items, consider looking through garage sales for bargains and selling them on; or, you could buy products wholesale for cheap and sell them at a profit. If you want to make a good income out of this, it may take some research to find a niche, but it could turn out to be very profitable. Using Etsy If you have a talent for crafts, like knitting or sewing, consider usingwww.etsy.com to sell easy-to- make items. With Etsy, you can set up a shop to sell creative products or vintage items. You could create small products that take only a small amount of time, and sell them on for a profit. Unlike Ebay, Etsy is not an auction site, so items will be listed for at least 4 months. For this, Etsy charge a $0.20 fee. They will also collect 3.5% of the profit of sold items. Just click 'Sell on Etsy' on
  • 33. the homepage to get started. Using CafePress Those with a passion for design could consider making shirts. Create a design that you think may sell, and then use a website like www.cafepress.com to sell the shirts. CafePress will make the shirts for you, and you receive the money for it. You can also use your design for other items, such as mugs, posters and stickers. It is easy to upload the picture you want to sell on a shirt, and it will scale to fit the object. You can also join the CafePress Partner Program, which will let you market CafePress products and earn royalties. Click 'Sell' on the CafePress website, then 'Learn More' under the option you want to take. CafePress charge a base price for the creation of the product that they will then keep. You can mark- up the price of the product, and that is your share. If you mark up by more than $15, they will charge an extra 5% transaction fee. For example, if you mark up an item $20, they will charge $0.25. This is 5% of the extra $5 you have gone over $15. Self-Publishing You can publish and sell information in the form of ebooks, DVDs or audio books, to use a few examples. This can be new content, or you could repackage information from your blog, perhaps with some special extras. You can either publish this yourself, or sell through a website like Amazon. Publishing yourself means you keep a bigger portion of the profit, and allows you a larger amount of control. You could even use the auto-responder method here, directing the audience towards a landing page where they must input their email address to receive the product. You can buy software that will self- publish your books, such as Bookwright fromhttp://www.blurb.co.uk/bookwright. You can publish photo books, magazines and ebooks. It can be pricy, charging £8.99 for a print run of 1-9 copies, but this price goes down the more orders you place. For DVDs, you can record the video and then burn it
  • 34. onto discs using free software. Publish Through Amazon However, there are advantages in selling through Amazon. Because Amazon is a widely-used website, your content is more likely to gain a large audience. The profit you earn for publishing a Kindle book can also be large, depending on how you price your product. If your ebook is priced between $2.99 and $9.99, for example, you will earn 70% of the profit. To sell through Amazon, go to http://www.amazonkdp.com/. You need an Amazon account to publish your ebook; login on the front page, and accept the terms and conditions (after reading through). Once you do this, you will be taken to your account page, where you can upload your manuscript and provide a category and description for it. You can also create a cover, or upload one you already have. You can get a great cover done for only $5 at www.fiverr.com, a great site for all sorts of things! You can also sell audiobooks through Amazon, using a similar process. This is through ACX (http://www.acx.com/) and will also allow you to publish through Audible and iTunes. You can also hire narrators through this service. Setting Up Online Courses If you have a special expertise in a subject, set up an online course to teach others. You could charge a small amount for the classes, and for the course materials you create to accompany them. You can do this through your blog, or though particular websites. Udemy lets you host your course on their website and on your own, allowing you to have two avenues of traffic. It is geared towards video courses, so this is a good option if you are comfortable on video. To do this, click 'Become an Instructor' in the top right corner. You can then start creating your course by entering the title. From here, you can upload videos and create exercises and materials for your students to use. Udemy will also provide you with coupon codes, which let you earn 97% of the sale gotten with them, and give you a landing page.
  • 35. www.litmos.com is another website that lets you create an online course with your own branding, domain name and landing page, letting you differentiate your product from other courses and customise to your desires. They offer a free trial to get started, which you can sign up for using your Google account, LinkedIn or Facebook. They are more focused on employee training than on e- learning, but they are similar concepts, and so you can apply your online course to their methods. Creating a course on one of these websites, as opposed to your blog, will mean they keep some commission; this is usually about 30%. However, these websites may have more traffic and so allow for larger classes. They will also make sure your course is promoted throughout their website, to give you every opportunity to succeed.
  • 36. Conclusion This is just a small sample of the ways you can make a passive income online. You can combine any number of these, and use them as creatively as you like. Having many ways in which you can earn money is a good way to protect against potential failures – if your items on eBay aren't selling, for example, you would still have your blog and YouTube videos. You could even advertise your eBay shop on your blogs and videos. Once you've used this guide to set up your business, you could try and branch out, thinking outside the box to find even more ways of earning. You won't earn your first $1000 overnight. It will take some time to set up your business, whatever you decide to make it and some more time for your online promotion to bring in an audience. However, if you are determined to make a passive income and you are willing to put in this time and effort at first, you will find that the money will soon come to you, and keep coming, month after month. Thank you again for downloading this book and good luck!
  • 37. Thanks! Thank you again for downloading this book! If you enjoyed this book, it would be hugely appreciated if you could leave an honest review on Amazon, as any feedback helps me to improve the next books. Click here to leave a quick review on Amazon! Review link: http://amzn.to/1OKvnYd

If you do it wrong, you could end up haemorrhaging customers daily! If you follow my advice, you'll see and incremental increase in your sales! If you don't...well...that's up to you. So, prepare yourself! You're about to learn a thing or two! 1. Opening a Dialogue Opening up a dialogue for conversation is one of the most important ways to engage your customers and make them feel like there is person on the other side of the screen. No one wants to be hit with message after message with little to no feedback when they reply.
  • 39. Think about it, when was the last time you were on Facebook and you reached out to a company that you liked or had questions about and they never replied? How did that make you feel? I bet you were a little bitter. This bitterness can manifest in a variety of ways, from avoiding the product to actually becoming a detractor and smearing the company for its lack of empathy. Keeping an open dialogue with your customers can save your relationships with the customers who are on the fence and can strengthen the relationship with customers who are already fans. There are many different reasons to open up a dialogue and in this report, I wanted to go over a few of the more important ones. Feedback From Customers Customers feedback can help to determine the direction that your company takes in the future. You may have a very definite view of what your company and your product should look like, but after hearing back from your customers, you may see that your views need to change. Customer feedback is the ultimate litmus test for if what you are doing is effective or just a waste of your time. Customers tend to be honest and—especially over social media—they won't sugar-coat things. Let's say that you have a customer that has joined your blog and didn't quite understand how a specific blog was relevant to your overall message. You may have a healthy eating blog where you post an article about hypnotherapy. Right off the bat, someone may come to you confused about what this has to do with their eating habits. This gives you the opportunity to respond by letting them know that hypnotherapy can be used to suppress urges for eating bad foods. Bam! You've just reached out and kept a fan, as well as answering this question for others. On the other hand, if you weren't available to answer this question, this may have sparked a full on debate on your social media, which could lead to anger, more confusion and even people unsubscribing. Because you failed to answer one simple question that would have taken you a few moments to answer, you've struck up a controversy that could cause real damage to your company! Responding to feedback from customers can change the customer's perception, open up a dialogue and let you know what is working and what isn't working with your company. Just as importantly, you will be better able to build the trust and respect of your customers by showing them that you care enough about their questions and feedback to take time out of your day to answer them.
  • 40. They get an answer to their question and you get to maintain the support of a customer. It's a win-win! Business Connections Social media has become an excellent and even necessary way to reach out to other businesses. This is especially so for businesses that are based online. Networking is key to the growth of any business. You need to be able to communicate with others in a way that you can express your needs, discuss their needs and find a way that you can be mutually beneficial. There are many ways to reach out over social media, so let's discuss a few different platforms and how to reach companies directly through these platforms: Facebook Facebook allows for connection is many different ways. You can start off slowly by liking a few of their photos and commenting on a few of their posts. From there you can begin to build a relationship and plant the idea of your business in their head. You can even take it a step further by reposting some of their posts on your wall. This is giving them free advertising, which I'm sure they will appreciate. Once they have a better feel for who you are, you can approach them via private message. Start off small with inquiries about their company. They will love to talk about themselves. From there, identify some needs and finally, address how you feel you could best solve some of their needs with your product. I know this takes a while and you still may get a "No," but a "Yes," could be a game changer! Twitter Twitter is a little tricky because there are so few characters to work with. Like with Facebook, you can share their tweets and even favorite their tweets. You can tweet them questions and comment on their tweets by tweeting back at them. Twitter can be a little easier to get lost in the shuffle and if they have a lot of followers, you have to really make your presence know. After establishing a basic relationship, you can take this engagement to private message and really let them know what you are all about! LinkedIn LinkedIn is built for business networking! If you join LinkedIn and don't think someone is going to
  • 41. reach out to you to network, you obviously don't understand the platform. The good thing about LinkedIn is it gives you the opportunity to make more warm connections. You can get involved in groups in your field and use your network of business partners to reach out to others. You can also look for companies that are in your niche and reach out to them directly. LinkedIn is probably your best bet to make simple business connections, but it's also the most obvious, which can work against you. All three of these platforms have positives and pitfalls. It's up to you to discover which works best for you! Answering Questions As with the feedback section, social media allows you to answers frequently asked questions to a bigger audience, instead of addressing each of these issues one at a time. This also allows fans and customers to ask you questions that you may not have considered, which can actually serve to change your business practices and better understand your customer base. Answering customer's questions can be as easy as jumping on social media, checking out their post on your page and shooting them back a quick response. They will feel like they are appreciated as a customer and they will be more likely to buy from you. Especially in internet marketing, you'll probably get a lot of questions revolving around your credibility and the credibility of your affiliates. If you are able to address these inquiries head-on, you can put your customers at ease that there is a real person out there that is looking out for their best interest. On the other hand, if you let these questions slip between the cracks, you will very quickly lose the trust of your customers, which will lead to a drop in your sales. Answering questions is quick and easy and it really could save you thousands of dollars! One quick response here and there could help to hold on to a customer that is making you hundreds of dollars a year. I'd say that's worth it! Reaching Out To New Customers One of the most important parts of opening up a dialogue is speaking with new customers. You can easily use social media to spread the word of your amazing internet marketing company and get people excited and on board.
  • 42. If you do it correctly, you can build trust with your clients before they even take advantage of your services! Imagine if a company reached out to you in a field that you really liked. Say you're training to be an MMA fighter and a company that makes fight gear reached out to you, showing interest in your career. They let you know that they have some of the best gear in the market that they think will improve your fight game. If you are willing to "like" their page and give them some feedback, they'll send to over a free product and give you a discount on other products. What would you think of this company? Would they be bugging you? I'd wager that you'd love this company and welcome them reaching out to you! They've made your life better by getting a hold of you and you will gratefully fork over some cash. The point here is that you have a service or product that you know your customers will love and if you identify the right consumers and reach out to them, they will be happy that you took the time. You can reach out to new customers on any medium, but the method changes significantly from medium to medium. Facebook, for instance, has made it a lot more difficult to reach out to customers directly, so instead you may have to use Facebook ads to get a hold of them. Twitter, on the other hand, still allows open lines of communication and with the hashtag function, you are better able to search for people who are discussing your niche and get in on the conversation. From there, you can show new customers what you are all about and you can transition to sales and customer loyalty, while building your overall fan base. Sure, opening a dialogue takes some time and effort, but if you are able to put in that extra time, you will see incredible results! Social media is for everyone to be social, including your business. Take advantage of this and launch a campaign that will leave an impression with potential customers and other businesses! 2. Direct Marketing Obviously you want to use social media to market your products and you don't always want to use the roundabout approach. There is nothing wrong with being direct, just know that there will be more money involved. Either way with marketing, it's going to cost you time or money and as they say, "time is money," so it really depends on what kind of currency you are willing to spend. If you have the extra cash, though, I would suggest investing in some direct marketing through social media to yield the best results and make sure enough eyeballs see your product.
  • 43. Here are some ways that you can use direct marketing to increase your sales and brand awareness. Advertising New Products Whether someone is already a fan of yours or they are new to your market, new products have a tendency to get people really revved up and excited. You can use your social media platform to keep the public aware of new products as they become available and even more importantly, you can rev up the interest for that new product before it has even been launched. Let's look at something as simple as a movie trailer. Studios have gotten smart and they generally start a social media campaign as soon as the movie has been green lit. From there, the hype builds with what is essentially a teaser machine. It may start as small as photos of the posters for the movie, photos of the cast or behind the scenes images. Over time, as the project develops, little clips may be released to give people a taste of what is to come. These may be as short as ten seconds, but even that is enough to make fans explode with anticipation. As the movie nears its premiere, they drop the big bomb—a trailer! People go insane and they share this trailer on their walls so everyone they know can see how awesome this movie will be! Imagine if you took this approach with your product. Imagine if you built a launch slowly, over time, with titbits that would hype up your audience. Imagine if you took this a step further and started releasing ads that teased just enough to get people excited enough to follow you page. This seems like a winning approach, doesn't it? Well then, use it! Use your social media to your advantage to hype up new products. This will help to maintain your current audience and will bring new customers into the fold. Affiliate Products Social media allows you to reach your audience more directly than anything else. Sure, your goal is to get them to subscribe to your newsletter, but what better way to tease your newsletter than giving them access to your affiliates? I know this sounds strange, but hear me out. If you can begin hyping your affiliates before they even join your newsletter, they will be WAY more likely to buy once they join. This doesn't mean that you have to give away the info for the product for free. You can still affiliate market or let them know about the program without giving the name. Make it seem like giving them access to the affiliate products that you know will help them is a

Pushing Traffic To Your Website This is the primary goal for most internet marketers. No matter what technique you use to get people there, at the end of the day, you want them to get to your website so they'll subscribe to your newsletter. If they don't get to your website, they won't subscribe. If they don't subscribe, all of your efforts will be effectively meaningless. Getting people to sign up for a newsletter can be difficult and it really may come down to the wording. If you sell people on the idea that your website will give them all the answers that they need, they will be much more likely to click. If you tell them to go to your website so they can sign up for an email newsletter, there's a good chance no one will click. It's likely that you've spend some good money on your landing page. It's time to put that page to work! There's a reason why all the most successful internet marketers use landing pages. You need to hype up your newsletter before you capture their emails and often the best way to do this is to give them a free gift and a promise of quality content. So, how do you use social media to drive traffic to your website? Well, there are a couple of different approaches. One is the approach that we were talking about earlier, with engaging your audience. Once you've gotten them to "like" your page or you've engaged them in conversation, you can send out posts asking them to check out your website. You don't want to flood your page with these, but you also don't want them to be sparse. A balance is important. The other way is more direct, which is advertising through social media. Facebook, for instance, has an excellent advertising tool that allows you to reach thousands of people for a pretty marginal price. This will get you lots of impressions, which will increase the chance for clicks. With these ads, your call to action can be to "like" the page or go directly to the website. Try out both and see what works better for you and your specific business. Either way, promise them great, FREE content and even that free gift. People want something for nothing, at least initially, and once you've gained their trust, they will be more likely to take your opinion and buy from you.

Once again, this is going to cost you a bit of money and you may even want to consider hiring someone to write your ads for you. We all like to think of ourselves as social media experts, but in reality, most of us don't have a business degree or marketing background. Once you've captured your potential customer's attention and gotten them to the website, it all comes down to the newsletter. If you sell them on the free gift or the merits of the newsletter, you'll get clicks. From there, it's up to you to have a killer newsletter that will keep them reading and keep them loyal. This may actually work towards feeding your social media campaign, as happy customers will tell their friends and share your page on their social media! 3. Content Creation In order to succeed as an internet marketer, you have to learn to understand how to utilize content to keep the interest of your follower and gain a new audience. While people will be willing to spend money once you've gained their trust, most of your audience is going to be following you for the free content that you provide. You may be thinking, "Wait, what? So, how is this a viable business model?" That's a good question and it seems like a strange idea to be giving people things for free when you are trying to make money, but by the time I'm done with this section, you'll understand just why it is that you need to provide top of the line content for free mixed in with your paid offers. Why give them free content? So, let's start with the initial question that most people are probably asking...why free content at all? How am I going to benefit from giving my customers something for free? The reason is a lot simpler than you'd think. Providing your customers and potential customers with free content may feel like a loss, but in reality you are building your credibility, building their trust and keeping their attention. In order for your customers to be comfortable with giving you their money, they need to know that you have a good idea of what you are talking about. By giving them free content, even things like videos and articles you have found online, you establish that you know what you are talking about and are well read on the topic. Once they know you are credible, they want to know they can trust you. If everything you send them or post on your social media is clickbait, they are going to see your financial incentives and they are

If you vary your content with free content and sales content, they will begin to see you as a credible expert who is looking out for their best interest by showing them products that they can benefit from. Finally, you are keeping them reading your posts, clicking and engaging with you when you give them food for thought mixed in with sales posts. You have to keep the conversation going and you have to keep people interested if you want them to stick around. What kind of content? When I say free content, I don't mean giving them your entire life's work on a silver plate. You have to find a balance between them getting enough to keep them interested and them getting so much that your product or affiliates become obsolete. Give them a gem here and there, but mostly give them things that make them think a little bit and get them excited about moving forward. How much is too much? Keep your posts to a reasonable level, but at the same time, don't be a ghost. You should post at least once a day, two if possible and three if you can realistically find something to say. Try to mix it up so there are more content posts than sales posts, but even then, don't make your sales posts too scarce. You want them to be accustomed to you asking for and telling them things. Don't go crazy, but make sure to respond on social media and keep your customers engaged. Social media can make or break your online marketing efforts. If you can open a dialogue, market effectively and create good content, they will follow you, buy from you and come back for more! If not, your online business may start circling the drain.
