SHORT INFO ON PROGRAM A pilot as part of EU Aid Volunteers specifically aimed at strengthening capacities for resilience at local partner organisations: • 15 advisor volunteers in 8 countries • Capacity strengthening on community resilience / DRR • Co-funded by ECHO and the Czech Development agency (Ministry of foreign affairs)

CONSORTIUM Partners - ACT Alliance members: ICCO Cooperation: Interchurch Organization for Development Cooperation – The Netherlands (lead) FCA: Finn Church Aid – Finland Diaconia ECCB-CHDA: Center of Humanitarian and Development Aid - Czech Republic Associate partners: Wageningen University (NL): Disaster Studies Wageningen University (NL) University of Copenhagen (DK): Master of Disaster Management program with Lund University in Sweden.

Development of organisational policies to mainstream resilience 3. Networks established at local level 4. DRR interventions at community level 5. Emergency preparedness of local partners and national Act Forums
  7. 7. KEY LESSONS LEARNED 1. Multiple interpretations of resilience create confusion 2. The ‘bridging’ potential of resilience 3. Addressing main risks & community needs 4.   8. 8. RECOMMENDATIONS HFA2 1. To foster understanding of resilience at local level: context-specific learning from resilience programs and activities 2. More flexible funding streams to facilitate integrative approaches and tailor-made support 3. Promote a people-centred approach 4. Focus (also) on everyday disasters 5. Refer to specific role of Faith-Based Organisations 6. Establish clear accountability and transparency mechanisms and strengthen local governance capabilities
