Added value for the Post 2015 Framework for 5th International Disaster and Risk Conference IDRC 2014 ‘Integrative Risk Management - The role of science, technology & practice‘ • 24-28 August 2014 • Davos • Switzerland www.grforum.org Disaster Risk Reduction • Main gaps, needs and further steps to be addressed in the Post 2015 Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction: – Policy: It is important to continue to focus on prevention, but we should also seek to build up resilience and robust communities through improved awareness and preparedness for technological accidents at the local level. Initiatives like the UNEP APELL must be considered as an important process to help local community to understand the risks, communicate the risks to the public, build a robust culture of safety in the society as a whole and through cooperation with industry and other stakeholders.
