I am not allowed to advocate for, or against, the issues. </li></ul><ul><li>My purpose is to provide you information and answer questions as allowed within state law and the state’s Public Disclosure Commission. </li></ul>

Basic Facts About The Bond <ul><li>What will it support </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Build a 750-student elementary school in the southwest area of the district </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Build a 400-student classroom addition at Emerald Ridge High School </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Build the second and third floors on the new wing at Puyallup High School </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Replace Firgrove, Northwood, and Spinning elementary schools </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Modernize and build junior high science classrooms </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Upgrade interim housing for the QUEST/Highly Capable program </li></ul></ul>

  13. 13. Bonds & Levies: What’s the Difference? <ul><li>Bonds – pays only for major capital improvements projects such as building or renovating schools. These monies cannot be used for daily operations. </li></ul><ul><li>School Programs and Operation Levy – pays for items necessary for the day-to-day operation of schools, educational programs and staff not funded by the state. </li></ul>
  14. 14. If You Only Remember 3 Things <ul><li>ONE </li></ul><ul><li>Every student will benefit from some of the proposed 2007 bond projects. </li></ul>
  15. 15. If You Only Remember 3 Things <ul><li>TWO </li></ul><ul><li>The cost is 29 cents for every thousand dollars of assessed valuation (est.). </li></ul>
  16. 16. If You Only Remember 3 Things <ul><li>THREE </li></ul><ul><li>The 19 projects funded by the bond are a continuation of capital improvement plans initiated in the Puyallup School District in 2004. </li></ul>
