The Georgia Youth Summit is a statewide leadership conference for teams of youth and adults, sponsored by the Georgia Department of Community Affairs. The Summit is designed to prepare the next generation of Georgia leaders by providing youth with knowledge, resources and encouragement to create positive change in their communities.
The primary objectives of the conference are to:
1. Create an awareness of state/local issues.
2. Enhance youth-adult partnerships on the local level.
3. Equip youth to become active locally in the betterment of their community

Time for the 2012 Georgia Youth Summit!The Georgia Youth Summit is a statewide leadershipconference for teams of youth and adults, sponsoredby the Georgia Department of Community Affairs.The Summit is designed to prepare the nextgeneration of Georgia leaders by providing youth withknowledge, resources and encouragement to createpositive change in their communities.The primary objectives of the conference are to: 1. Equip youth to become active locally in the betterment of their communityWhen is Youth Summit?UPDATED SUMMIT DATES-This 2012 summit will take place September 8th-9th at Rock Eagle 4-H Center in Eatonton, GA.Registration will start at 10:30 am and the opening assembly will start at 1:00 pm, on Saturday the 8th.The Summit will conclude at 3:00 pm on Sunday the 9th. Overnight accommodations on the 7th will be available, based on need.Who Can Attend?This event is open to current 8th-11th graders who are interested in making a difference in their community. The Summit is open tomembers from all youth serving organizations. Each county is asked to bring one team to Youth Summit.Adult ChaperonesAdult chaperones should be 21 years of age, complete the Georgia 4-H overnight chaperone training certification, and provide requireddocumentation for the UGA College of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences screening process.How Much Does it Cost?The Georgia Department of Community Affairs provides scholarships for 4 youth and 1 adult from every county in Georgia. Scholarshipscover meals, lodging, educational programs and recreation activities. Teams consist of 4 students and an adult chaperone.Military TeamAlong with County Teams, the 2012 Georgia Youth Summit will host a team of Military Kids! Each branch of theService will be represented by Georgia youth who have a parent(s) in the Military. These Military Youth will work astheir own Military Specific Team and be housed together during the summit. These youth will NOT count againsttheir home county’s scholarship limit.
