  3. 3. てんてん and まる <ul><li>Adding a てん てん (te-n-te-n AKA Dakuten) or まる (ma-ru) to some of the Hiragana letters gives a new pronunciation. (D akuten , 濁点 , is more often called ten-ten in speech) </li></ul><ul><li>Ten-ten comes from the Japanese word for point, Ten , 点 .
