After a successful participation at Imm Cologne and Orgatec 2014,
Spain kicks off its 2015 worldwide tradeshow-tour in force and style at
the next edition of IMM in Cologne. The German exhibition, which in
the latest years has attracted more than 300,000 industry visitors from
all over the world, has been chosen by an increasing number of
Spanish furnishing manufacturers – an impressive 25 in total – as a
springboard for new year’s product launches. As a result, in pavilions
such as the Pure 11, Pure Editions 3.2, Smart and Comfort, the Spain’s
exhibition area has risen by +62%.
No wonder. With Germany ranking third among Spain’s key markets
for furnishing products and exports on the rise all over 2014,
Germany is a primary client for Spain’s design products and furniture.
The MUEBLE DE ESPAÑA’s offer is aimed to attract the German as well
as the international buyers and specifiers who are visiting the fair in
search of new designs and products for their showrooms, retails and
interior design projects. It includes a unique array of interior design
ideas for every room, every style and every requirement – from the
modern basics and accessories to designer items and stylish
contemporary furnishings.

and versatility to the limit. Focal point of these new spaces are the attractive rugs that come
in different sizes and colours and are amazingly patterned with oversized stitches forming
different grids across the surfaces. The textile strips are also used to upholster the modular
seats, poufs and the accessories of the collection. All the pieces are interchangeable in order

unique coffee table, whose name – LORE – means exactly “flowers” in Basque.

A positive balance
2014 was a busy year for MUEBLE DE ESPAÑA and the Spain’s furniture industry which
participated with more than 120 Spanish manufacturers in the 11 main shows of the sector:
Imm Cologne, M&O Paris, Interior Mebel Kiev, I Saloni Milan, Index Dubai, Decorex London,
Furniture China, Ismob Turkey, May Design London, M&O Asia, I Saloni Moscow… The long list
of promotional activities included also events, openings of new showrooms in main cities, B2B
meetings, trade missions and contract projects in all main markets. As a result, exports
registered an upward trend all over the year…
Preliminary figures for 2014 indicate that Spain’s exports of furniture have increased by
+4.7% over the last year’s figures, amounting to 1,243 million euros at the end of
September.
Rich in styles and ranges and with a unique emotional approach, Furniture from Spain has
consolidated its presence in four UE countries: France, Portugal, Germany and the United
Kingdom, which rank 1st to 4th among Spain’s major markets.

A positive balance
Sales have increased significantly in almost all the other top ten importers. Germany,
which ranks third among main destination markets, increased its purchases of Spanish
products by 32.3%, totalling 101 million euros. The share of sales to Germany made up
8.1% over the total of Spain’s exports of furnishing products.
Encouraging growths have also been registered in other main markets for Spanish
furniture, such as the United Kingdom (+25.7%) and Mexico (+25.1%).
Remaining in Central Europe, Belgium earned the 12th position in the ranking, with
imports of Spanish furniture growing by +24.9% to 25,6 million euros. Exports have
also increased to Switzerland (+12.3%), which ranked 13th, and The Netherlands
(+4.1%).
