Industry Solution Overview Industry Challenge A logistics service provider (LSP) typically offers services ranging from freight transportation, warehousing, inventory control to supply chain management. Being a paper-intensive industry, we know that these services generate an average of 390,000 sheets of paper per company annually! Critical documents such as import and export permits, delivery orders, waybills and bills of lading contribute to this immense volume. These are the lifeblood of information and document exchange within key airfreight and seafreight departments. According to the World Bank, logistics costs are estimated to rise to a significant 20 per cent of total manufacturing costs in developed countries such as Singapore. In a drive to maintain profitability and competitiveness, shippers are exerting tremendous pressure on LSPs to reduce cost whilst delivering better service and greater efficiency. LSPs today realise an obvious area where these challenges can be addressed is in cutting the cost of document-intensive activities. LSPs can easily cut operations cost by reducing manual paperwork and streamlining document workflows, thereby raising service levels through a higher throughput of automated freight document handling. “Freight data residing in existing legacy applications can be captured and transformed by FreightDOC into either high quality laser print or electronic documents.” FreightDOC’s multi-channel delivery capabilities allow freight documents such as Waybills, Bills of Lading, Import/Export Permits and Invoices to be printed, emailed or faxed to multiple parties and simultaneously archived as an electronic copy back into the FreightDOC system for Online Self Service. The printed freight documents are automatically sorted before being sent out to multiple parties. Customer Service, Finance, Sea Freight or Air Freight Departments can reference the archived electronic copies of the freight documents for solving customer or operational related issues. We also provide Document Process Outsourcing Services to manage the activities supporting FreightDOC.
