The Oil & Gas Forum:
“Oil & GasLebanon: Governance&Integration”
Recent discoveries of Oil & Gas in the
Eastern Mediterranean region have the
potential to transform the economies
of three neighboring countries, namely
Lebanon, Israel and Cyprus. Our Country
is in the early stages of building an Oil &
Gas sector and is still far from drilling the
first exploration wells.
Although many reliable studies proved
that trillions of cubic feet of gas amount
to the wealth which our seawater hides
underneath, Lebanon has so far been
officially unable to estimate how much Oil
& Gas this country might have.
With no border agreement so far with Israel,
and with the political deadlock situation
that is prevailing in our country and is
preventing the government from launching
its first offshore Oil & Gas licensing round,
our rights as a future oil-producing country
are not respected or are ill-managed.
Lebanesecitizenshavetoprotecttheirrights

Dear Friends,
I am privileged to address myself to your
distinguished gathering which is attending
the second Forum about Lebanon’s
National Wealth, under the title:
Oil&GasLebanon:Governance&Integration.
Let me start by expressing our special
thanks and appreciation to:
-	Our speakers, many of whom have
travelled from several corners of the
globe to enlighten us and share with us
their experiences, knowledge and know
how. We are honored to have them
among us as friends and supporters.
-	The organizing team, the distinguished
sponsors, the media friends, the suppliers,
ESA and MEREF, let alone the Makhzoumi
Foundation, in addition to aspecial tribute
to LBCI for broadcasting the Forum live
for the second consecutive time.
-	The audience at large, the universities
(more than 10) and all the students.
From the onset, the objective of this
series on this major national wealth has
been to highlight its economic values,
address the hurdles and difficulties that
stand in its way, inform the Lebanese
citizens on the full picture, and strive to
growth associated with the production of
their national Oil & Gas resources.
For this, The Lebanese Government
created the Lebanon Petroleum Authority,
and toward the same endeavor “Front
Page Communication” and “Forum For
National Dialogue” started the “Lebanon’s
National Wealth” initiative to provide
the media, the academic youth, the
civil society, the economic and financial
sectors with dialogue platforms around
this wealth, while involving local and
international experts and key players in
the field.
Lebanon’s National Wealth organized last
year the first Forum on Oil & Gas, and that
successfuleventwasfollowedbyaseriesof
conferences in key Lebanese universities.
This second forum is scheduled for June
8th at ESA Campus.
We invite you to follow the organization of
our future events on our web site and social
mediapages(www.lebanonnationalwealth.org).
reach efficient concrete solutions to be
implemented rapidly for the common
good of the country.
Let us derive a strong synergy from our
deliberations today and work on formulas
aimed to develop each individual’s
knowledge, in order to create a major
driving force that moves us forward on
this most important subject.
Together, and in harmony, we can deliver
expected and unexpected results.
I am confident that the vision and
strategies which we will evolve will point
the new generation as to how to confront
the great challenges at play, and how
to perform its major role of carrying the
torch into the future, for the benefit of our
beloved country.
Thank you

ABOUT MEREF
As a place for exchange and knowledge-
sharing, the MEREF aims to bring together
economic representatives of France in
Lebanon, enabling them to build strong links
with each other for future partnerships.
The group is a real platform for developing
a business-conducive environment for its
members in Lebanon.
Since its inception in 2008, the MEREF
has considerably grown and now brings
together nearly 120 companies from
all sectors. Always lending an ear to its
members, the MEREF advocates the
dissemination of information, through
the organization and participation
in a series of events on the business
community in Lebanon. Considered as a
gathering platform, the MEREF brings its
members together but also new potential
entities through friendly meetings and
participation in trade fairs. The MEREF
network prospers through the exchange
of knowledge and experience.

Forum Oil & Gas 2015 - Booklet

  • 1. The Oil & Gas Forum: “Oil & GasLebanon: Governance&Integration”
  • 2. Recent discoveries of Oil & Gas in the Eastern Mediterranean region have the potential to transform the economies of three neighboring countries, namely Lebanon, Israel and Cyprus. Our Country is in the early stages of building an Oil & Gas sector and is still far from drilling the first exploration wells. Although many reliable studies proved that trillions of cubic feet of gas amount to the wealth which our seawater hides underneath, Lebanon has so far been officially unable to estimate how much Oil & Gas this country might have. With no border agreement so far with Israel, and with the political deadlock situation that is prevailing in our country and is preventing the government from launching its first offshore Oil & Gas licensing round, our rights as a future oil-producing country are not respected or are ill-managed. Lebanesecitizenshavetoprotecttheirrights to benefit from the prospective economic Dear Friends, I am privileged to address myself to your distinguished gathering which is attending the second Forum about Lebanon’s National Wealth, under the title: Oil&GasLebanon:Governance&Integration. Let me start by expressing our special thanks and appreciation to: - Our speakers, many of whom have travelled from several corners of the globe to enlighten us and share with us their experiences, knowledge and know how. We are honored to have them among us as friends and supporters. - The organizing team, the distinguished sponsors, the media friends, the suppliers, ESA and MEREF, let alone the Makhzoumi Foundation, in addition to aspecial tribute to LBCI for broadcasting the Forum live for the second consecutive time. - The audience at large, the universities (more than 10) and all the students. From the onset, the objective of this series on this major national wealth has been to highlight its economic values, address the hurdles and difficulties that stand in its way, inform the Lebanese citizens on the full picture, and strive to growth associated with the production of their national Oil & Gas resources. For this, The Lebanese Government created the Lebanon Petroleum Authority, and toward the same endeavor “Front Page Communication” and “Forum For National Dialogue” started the “Lebanon’s National Wealth” initiative to provide the media, the academic youth, the civil society, the economic and financial sectors with dialogue platforms around this wealth, while involving local and international experts and key players in the field. Lebanon’s National Wealth organized last year the first Forum on Oil & Gas, and that successfuleventwasfollowedbyaseriesof conferences in key Lebanese universities. This second forum is scheduled for June 8th at ESA Campus. We invite you to follow the organization of our future events on our web site and social mediapages(www.lebanonnationalwealth.org). reach efficient concrete solutions to be implemented rapidly for the common good of the country. Let us derive a strong synergy from our deliberations today and work on formulas aimed to develop each individual’s knowledge, in order to create a major driving force that moves us forward on this most important subject. Together, and in harmony, we can deliver expected and unexpected results. I am confident that the vision and strategies which we will evolve will point the new generation as to how to confront the great challenges at play, and how to perform its major role of carrying the torch into the future, for the benefit of our beloved country. Thank you Mustapha Assad CEO Front Page Communication Vice President "Mouvement des Entreprises et Représentations Economiques Françaises au Liban" (MEREF) About Lebanon’s National Wealth Initiative WELCOME note
