Commissary promotions mean healthy savings For those with an eye on their budget and eating healthier, it’s always better to buy groceries and prepare meals at home. That is what Randy Chandler, DeCA’s director of sales, said when talking about DeCA’s February promotions. Customer savings tie in with a variety of February events from Heart Healthy Month and Valentine’s Day to the Winter Olympics and more. See February savings to learn more. Deadline this month for scholarship application Here’s a friendly reminder. The deadline to apply for a $2,000 scholarship through the Scholarships for Military Children program is close of business Feb. 28. The program will award at least one scholarship at each commissary with qualified applicants. Find out more and learn how to apply. Staying informed of food-safety-related recalls can be a full-time job. Thanks to Commissaries.com, it’s just a couple clicks away. Click Stay Informed for alerts on products sold in commissaries or on All Recalls from the FDA.
  2. 2. Express Line Page 2 of 2 Who’s afraid of cooking from scratch when it’s “Valentine’s Day Brownies”? Put your “real chef” apron on and prepare to mix flour with two types of chocolate, eggs and sugar for brownies with a crackly top that literally melts in your mouth. Kay says, “They’re worth every bit of effort it takes to make them for your sweetheart on Valentine’s Day, or any other day of the year.” Check the recipe. Store Director’s Scoop First and foremost I would like to thank each of you who supported the Special Olympics promotion with added purchases of your favorite products. Your cooperation not only saved you dollars in your household budget, but helped generate significant dollars for the local Junction City Special Olympics charter, the Junction City Pacesetters. 1. 2. 3. 4. Did you know our store has its own pages on the commissary website: Please visit us at http://www.commissaries.com find us under the “Locations” tab. There is also local store information on this site that can help you navigate the store or create a shopping list by aisle. Come look at your local commissary today for all your Valentine needs. We have fantastic plants and loads of candy selections for your loved ones to enjoy. Maybe they will even share with you on that wonderful day. Please note we will be closing early on Washington’s Birthday at 5:00 PM, February 17, 2014. Some call it President’s day, but if we recall the actual bill making it a Federal Holiday, it is Washington’s Day. 5. Want a Deli item but don’t want to stand and wait for it? Now you can stop by at the beginning of your commissary visit and fill out a special order slip. Once your order is placed, the Deli will get it ready and let you know when it is available for pick-up (in most cases even before you finish shopping).
