Assumptions <ul><li>Becoming dependent and in need of care is the last taboo in our society </li></ul><ul><li>Dependency contradicts the activity ideal (terror hypothesis) </li></ul><ul><li>Care professions who deal with dependency are not highly valued in our society </li></ul><ul><li>Nursing homes are a historical artefact/error, this can be corrected (the medicalisation of daily life produces loneliness, helplessness and boredom </li></ul><ul><li>Error has led to high costs and staff shortages </li></ul>
