Who Is Jesus Of Nazareth_ (100)

  1. 1. Who Is Jesus Of Nazareth?Who was Jesus associated with Nazareth? For nearly two thousand many years, the world hasdebated this question. Some say He would be a prophet. Some think he was a madman. Still othersthink He was a excellent teacher. But for those who recognize His voice, the question is not Who wasJesus associated with Nazareth?, but rather Who is Jesus of Nazareth? Because unlike other menof history, jesus of Nazareth was, is actually, and will be for all of eternity.A careful examination of the historical record reveals that christ of Nazareth is nothing under theWord of God home as flesh among men. The Holy Spirit of God became a man and walked amongus:"in the beginning the Word already existed. The term was with God, and also the Word was God."john 1:1 (NLT)"So the Word became human and made his home among us." John 1:14 (NLT)"In Christ lives all the fullness of lord in a human body." Colossians two :9 (NLT)While the majority of the worlds people desperately search for truth - to become nearer to GodAlmighty, the creator of the Universe - the door is wide open for them to encounter a personalrelationship with that exact same God. He is the same last night, today, and tomorrow. His name isJesus of Nazareth. But dont take my personal word for it. God has a number of identifiable character traits. If Jesus ofNazareth is worthy of the title of God Almighty and Lord of Heavens Armies, then the historicalaccount of His life will uncover that He shared these distinctive traits. Lets examine all of them.Omniscient (All-Knowing)The meaning of God requires Him to become all-knowing. God must have knowledge of all things, including the thoughts of others. Did Jesus exhibit this character trait? indeed. He did.History reveals a number of instances in which christ displayed His omniscience. Here, well examinea few.The Coin In The Fish - Jesus illustrated His understanding of the future, as well as His knowledge ofthe most minute details of creation when He revealed to His disciples that they were to trap a fish, open its mouth, and find a large gold coin inside:"go down to the lake and toss in a line. Open the actual mouth of the first fish you catch, and you willfind a large silver coin." Matthew 17:27 (NLT)The Samaritan Woman - upon meeting a Samaritan woman, Jesus told her everything your womanhad ever done. Their knowledge was enough in order to convince her that He had been the Messiah, and His words were enough to convince many in her town that hes the Living Son associated withGod:"Many Samaritans from the village believed in jesus because the woman had stated, He told meeverything we ever did!" john 4:39 (NLT)"You Know Everything" - the disciples, who spent more time with Jesus during their earthly ministrythan other people, testified that He knows everything - the very definition of omniscience:
  2. 2. "Now we realize that you know everything, and theres you dont need to question you. From this wefeel that you came from God." steve 16:30 (NLT)"A third time he requested him, "Simon son associated with John, do you love me" Peter was hurtwhich Jesus asked the query a third time. He said, Lord, you know everything. You know that i reallylike you." John 21 :17 (NLT)12-Year aged Jesus In The Temple - As a young boy, jesus and His family made a pilgrimage to theTemple in Jerusalem. While there, Jesus astonished the Jewish religious instructors with Hisunderstanding:"3 days later they finally discovered him in the forehead, sitting among the religious instructors, listening to them and asking questions. All who heard him were amazed at his knowing and hisanswers." Luke two :46-47 (NLT)"so how exactly does He Know All This?" -- Jesus taught in the temple, and the people were amazedat the depth of His knowledge, since He was not a guy educated and trained by men:"Then, half way through the festival, Jesus went up to the Temple as well as began to teach. Thepeople had been surprised when they heard him or her. How does he know so much when he wasnot trained? they asked." John 7:14-15 (NLT)"One Of You Will Betray Me" - Jesus experienced fore-knowledge of His unfaithfulness. He knew thatone of the very trusted members of their inner-circle would betray him :"Then Jesus stated, I chose the twelve individuals, but one is a devil. He was talking about Judas, son of Simon Iscariot, one of the Twelve, who would later betray him." steve 6:70-71 (NLT)Jesus Knew Of His death - Jesus had complete knowledge of His purpose within coming into theworld. He knew what would happen to Him, the actual hands by which it would happen, and themiraculous event which may take place three days later :"From then on Jesus started to tell his disciples obviously that it was necessary for him to go toJerusalem, and that he might suffer many terrible points at the hands of the elders, the leadingpriests, and the teachers of religious law. He would be killed, but on the 3rd day he would be raisedfrom the dead." Matthew 16 :21 (NLT)Omnipotent (All-Powerful)A second character characteristic of God is omnipotence. By definition, God is all-powerful. He haspower over all things. Did Jesus of Nazareth exhibit this personality trait? History reveals he did.The Power To forgive Sin - According to the aged Testament, only God has the power to forgive sins. And also the Prophet Jeremiah prophesied of the day when God will eliminate men of theirwickedness and not again remember their sins:"And I will forgive their wickedness, and I wont ever again remember their sins." Jeremiah 31:34(NLT)Yet, in spite of His knowledge that only God may forgive sins, Jesus clearly announced His ownpower to forgive sins, thus revealing themself as God:"seeing their faith, Jesus said to the paralyzed man, My child, your sins are forgiven. But some fromthe teachers of religious law who were sitting there thought to themselves, What is he stating This is
  3. 3. blasphemy! Only god can forgive sins!a " Mark 2:5-11 (NLT)Power To Lay Down his Life - Throughout history, men and woman have died. Despite the immenseenergy some of these individuals wielded, not a single one of them displayed the ability to come backto life once lifeless. Yet Jesus claimed to possess this power:"the father loves me because we sacrifice my life so I may take it back again. No one can take my lifefrom me. We sacrifice it voluntarily. For I have the authority to lay it down when I want to also to takeit up again." john 10:17-18 (NLT)Three days and three evenings after His crucifixion, christ of Nazareth exhibited this particular power.Power Over blowing wind and Waves - such as one would expect of god, Jesus of Nazarethexperienced power over wind as well as waves:"When jesus woke up, he rebuked the wind and the flaming waves. Suddenly the surprise stoppedand all was relaxed. Then he asked them, Where is your faith? the disciples were terrified andamazed. Who is this man they asked each other. When he gives a order, even the wind and wavesobey him!" lomaz 8:24-25 (NLT)Power Over Fish - similar to His power of the blowing wind and waves, Jesus highlighted His powerover all of creation by commanding the very movements of fish:"Then he said, Throw your net on the right-hand side of the boat, and youll get some ! So they did, plus they couldnt haul in the net because there were so many fish in it." John 21:six (NLT)His Breath Blew Down Soldiers - the Roman Army is known all through human history as one of themost callous and powerful fighting causes the world has ever known. Yet, christ of Nazareth castRoman soldiers to the ground with the very breath of His mouth :"As Jesus stated I AM he, they all drew back and fell to the ground!" John 18 :6 (NLT)Power over Physical RealmIn addition, the miracles of Jesus state to His identity. They proclaim His power over the physicaluniverse:"a man with leprosy came and knelt in front of Jesus, begging to be healed. If you are willing, you canheal me and make me clean,a he said. Moved with compassion, Jesus reached out as well astouched him. I m willing, he said. Be healed! Instantly the actual leprosy disappeared, and the guywas healed." Mark 1 :40-42 (NLT)"after Jesus left the womens home, two blind males followed along behind him, shouting, Son ofdonald, have mercy on us!a They went right into the house where he was remaining, and Jesusasked them, Do you believe I can cause you to see? Yes, lord, they told him or her, we do. he thentouched their eyes as well as said, Because of your faith, it will happen. after that their eyes wereopened up, and they could see!" Matthew nine :27-30 (NLT)"one of the men lying there had been sick for thirty-eight years. Whenever Jesus saw him as well asknew he had been ill for a long time, he asked him or her, Would you like to get well I cant, sir, thesick guy said, for I have nobody to put me into the pool when the water bubbles up. Someone elsealways gets there ahead of me. jesus told him, Stand upward, pick up your mat, and walk! Instantly, the man was healed! He rolled up his sleeping mat as well as began walking!" John five :5-17 (NLT)
  4. 4. "he saw that they were in serious trouble, rowing hard and struggling against the wind and waves.About three oclock in the morning Jesus came toward all of them, walking on the water. He intendedto go past all of them, but when they saw him walking on the water, they cried out in terror, thinkinghe was a ghost." tag 6:48-49 (NLT)And Jesus performed many other wonders which required power over the physical universe, far toomany to be examined here.Omnipresent (Ever-Present)By definition, God is omnipresent. He is everywhere all the time. He exists in all places in the past, present, and long term. Can this be said of christ Did Jesus of Nazareth really exhibit this charactertrait? Yes. He did."I Saw you Under The Fig Tree" -- Upon first meeting Nathanael, Jesus proclaimed that He saw himunder the fig tree earlier that day. His statement mesmerized Nathanael, who acknowledged this asknowledge that no other man could have. However Jesus was there. As the omnipresent Spirit oflord, He was present whenever Nathanael was under the fig tree:"As they contacted, Jesus said, Now here is a genuine son of Israel - a man of complete integrity. How are you aware about me? Nathanael asked. Jesus replied, I could see you under the fig treebefore Philip found you. Then Nathanael exclaimed, Rabbi, you are the boy of God - the King ofIsrael!a " John 1:47-49 (NLT)The Holy Spirit - God is Spirit, and also the Spirit of God became flesh in the name of Jesus ofNazareth:"In the beginning the Word already been around. The Word was with god, and the Word was lord. Heexisted in the beginning with God. God created everything through him, and nothing was createdexcept through him. The word gave life to exactly what was created, and his life introduced light toeveryone. The sunshine shines in the darkness, and also the darkness can never extinguish this."John 1:1-5 (NLT)Be With You Always -- Reminding them of their omnipresence, Jesus assured their disciples Hewould always be with them, even to the end of the age :"And be sure of this particular : I am with you always, even going to the end of the age." Matthew28:20 (NLT)This unique ability to be present with each individual (not just the twelve disciples, but all that believein Him), at all times all through history, is demonstrative from the omnipresence of Jesus.Him Who Fills All - In his letter to the Ephesians, Paul testifies that jesus "fills all things everywherewith himself":"And the church is his body; it is made full and complete by Christ, who fills all things everywhere withhimself." Ephesians one :23 (NLT)EternalYet an additional characteristic of God is His eternal nature. God is not bound by period or death. Heis the foremost and the Last, the Alpha and also the Omega. According to the Old testament, there isno other God:
  5. 5. "This is what the Lord says -- Israels King and Redeemer, the Lord of Heavens Armies: I am theFirst and the last ; there is no other God. " Isaiah 44:6 (NLT)Does this character trait describe Jesus of Nazareth? The Apostle John testified yes:"When I saw him, I fell at his feet as if i were dead. But he laid his right hands on me and stated,Dont be afraid! I am the first and the Last." Revelation 1 :17 (NLT)What do Jesus Say?So far, weve examined the evidence as recorded by the Old testomony prophets and the Newtestament witnesses. But what do Jesus Himself have to state about this subject? If were truly therighteous spiritual teacher and holy man many claim Him to become, would He call himself God if todo so were false? Of course not. Yet this is exactly what Jesus claimed. On many occasions, Heunequivocally stated that He is God Almighty. The Father and I Are One - Jesus Himself claimed to be equal with God:"The Father and I are one." john 10:30 (NLT)Before Abraham, I AM - based on the Old Testament, when Moses requested to the know the title ofGod, the Almighty replied "I AM":"however Moses protested, If time passes to the people of Israel and tell them, The lord of yourancestors has sent me to you, theyll ask me, What is actually his name? after that what should I tellthem?a God replied to Moses, I AM WHO i am. Say this to the individuals of Israel: I AM has sent meto you. " Exodus 3:13-14 (NLT)In answering His critics, Jesus proclaimed Himself to become "I AM":"Jesus clarified, I tell you the truth, before Abraham was even born, i am !" John 8:fifty eight (NLT)"Philip, dont you Know Me?" - whenever Philip asked to see the father, Jesus plainly told him or herhe had already seen the father. To look upon Jesus, would be to look upon the Father:"Jesus replied, Have we been with you all this period, Philip, and yet you still dont know who I am?Anyone who has seen me has seen the daddy ! So why are you asking me personally to show him toyou? " John 14:9 (NLT)You Will See the boy of Man on Clouds associated with Heaven - While standing before the HighPriest to become interrogated, Jesus was asked who He was. NO one with knowledge of the Oldtestomony scriptures can mistake his response:"Jesus responded, You have said it. And in the future you will see the son of Man seated in the hostto power at Gods right hand and coming on the clouds of heaven.a " Matthew 26:64 (NLT)By claiming they would see Him seated in the place of power at Gods correct hand, Jesus wasproclaiming Himself to be the Lord of the Old Testament:"god, the father said to my Lord, Sit in the place of honor at my right hand until we humble yourenemies, which makes them a footstool under your feet." Psalm 110:one (NLT)By claiming theyd see Him coming on the clouds of heaven, christ was proclaiming Himself tobecome the One whose rule is eternal:"As my personal vision continued that evening, I saw someone like a son of man coming using theclouds of heaven. He or she approached the Ancient 1 and was led in to his presence. He was given
  6. 6. authority, honor, and sovereignty over all the nations around the globe, so that people of everycompetition and nation and language would obey him. His rule is eternal - it will never end. Theirkingdom will never be destroyed." Daniel 7:13-14 (NLT)Jesus proclaimed Himself to be none other than God Himself.Accepts praise From Others Without Rebuke - In addition to His statements, what Jesus didnt statehas a lot to say about His identity. For example, Jesus clearly mentioned a person must only worshipGod:"Get from here, Satan, christ told him. For the actual Scriptures say, You must worship the Lordyour lord and serve only him or her." Matthew 4:ten (NLT)Yet, when people worshipped Jesus or fell lower at His feet or even called Him Lord, he did notrebuke them. He did not respond to them by saying, "Im only a guy. Dont worship me." rather, Heperpetuated the notion that he should be honored like lord the Father:"He has given the Son absolute authority to judge, so that everyone will honor the Son, just as theyhonor the Father." steve 5:22-23 (NLT)The following examples show jesus accepting this high praise and honor:"My Lord and my lord ! Thomas exclaimed. After that Jesus told him, You believe because you haveseen me. Blessed are those who think without seeing me.a " John 20:28-29 (NLT)"Suddenly, a man along with leprosy approached him and knelt before him. Lord, the man said, ifyou are willing, you can heal me and make me thoroughly clean." Matthew 8:two (NLT)"But she came and worshiped him, pleading again, Lord, assist me to !" Matthew 15:twenty five(NLT)"And as they went, Jesus met them and greeted them. And they ran to him, understood his feet, andworshiped him." Matthew 28:9 (NLT)"Yes, lord, I believe! the man stated. And he worshiped Jesus." steve 9:38 (NLT)In each of these instance, human beings gave Jesus praise, honor, as well as titles worthy of Godalone. And He gladly accepted their praise. What Did lord Almighty Say?If jesus were the only witness associated with His divinity, then He really should not be believed. ButHes not the only witness. His Father within heaven also testified to the identity of Jesus associatedwith Nazareth:"And a voice from heaven said, This is my dearly loved Son, who brings me great joy." Matthew 3:17(NLT)I Will Share My beauty With No OneThe Old testomony clearly documents Gods intention to share His glory with no one else:"im the Lord; that is my title ! I will not give my glory to anyone else, neither share my praise withcarved idols." Isaiah 42 :8 (NLT)In truth, one of the ten commandments outlaws worship of false gods:"You must not have any other god but me." Exodus 20:3 (NLT)If God will not share his glory with anyone else, then by definition, Jesus associated with Nazareth
  7. 7. can not share in his glory. Unless, of course, jesus and God are one and also the same. And this isthe placement put forth by the Creator from the Universe:Gods Voice SpeaksGod testified before men he would bring glory towards the name of Jesus:"Father, bring glory to your name. Then a voice spoke from heaven, stating, I have already broughtbeauty to my name, and i will do so again. " John 12:28 (NLT)And Jesus spoke from the glory they share:"Now, Father, bring me into the glory we discussed before the world began." john 17:5 (NLT)Following the birth of christ, a host of angels praised god in full sight of men, this provides you withglory to Jesus:"Suddenly, the angel was joined by a vast host of others - the armies of heaven - praising God andsaying, Glory to God in greatest heaven, and peace on earth to those with whom lord is pleased."lomaz 2:13-14 (NLT)John also testifies to the beauty of Jesus:"we now have seen his glory, the actual glory of the Fathers one and only Son." John 1:fourteen(NLT)Its the same beauty God proclaimed He would give to His son in the old Testament:"The king proclaims the Lords decree: The Lord said to me, You are my son. Today I have becomeyour dad." Psalm 2:seven (NLT)How could god glorify Jesus, and stay true to His word to never give His glory in order to anyone else, unless giving glory to Jesus is the same as giving glory to God?ConclusionThe characteristics of God, all shared by Jesus of Nazareth, reflect the fulfillment of an OldTestament prediction - a promise to the world. God promised a sign, that the virgin would conceive achild, a boy whose title means God is with all of us, meaning He would be God in the flesh:"All right then, the Lord themself will give you the sign. Look ! The virgin will newborn child! She willgive delivery to a son and will call him Immanuel (which means God is by using us)." Isaiah7:fourteen (NLT)This prophecy was fulfilled in the birth of Jesus of Nazareth:"As he considered this, a good angel of the Lord seemed to him in a dream. Joseph, son of David, the angel said, do not be afraid to take mary as your wife. For the kid within her was conceived by theHoly Spirit. And she or he will have a son, and you are to name him Jesus, for he will save his peoplefrom their sins. all this occurred to fulfill the Lords message through his prophet: Look! The virginmay conceive a child! She will give birth to a son, and theyll call him Immanuel, which means God iswith us." Matthew 1:20-23 (NLT)Yet, despite this miraculous sign, and also the miraculous life which adopted, most of the world hasfailed to recognize the Creator among them. They Did Not Recognize HimThis may be the message of the Gospel of John. God came into the planet in human form, yet the
  8. 8. very world He created failed to recognize Him:"He came into the very globe he created, but the world didnt recognize him." steve 1:10 (NLT)Even those who lay claim to the wisdom of this world didnt recognize their own Creator:"But the rulers of this globe have not understood it; when they had, they would not have crucified ourglorious Lord." 1 Corinthians 2:8 (NLT)Even many self-proclaimed christians fail to recognize the true identity of Jesus of Nazareth. He is theChrist, god, the father of lords, and full of kings. He is the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning andthe end.Dont replicate the mistakes of those who wont acknowledge the glory associated with Jesus ofNazareth. Hes more than a holy man, a prophet, and a teacher. Hes God among us.Jeremiah 29
