  4. 4. Q. How can I increase the number of Fans on my business page? A. I would start by analyzing where your customers hang out on Facebook, then go to the most popular fan pages in your market and post there. Leave helpful comments, answer visitor posts, and comment on the newest updates to get more awareness and gain visibility. Sign into your Fan page AS THE FAN PAGE to draw clicks to your Fan Page. The image below displays my options in Facebook. The drop down menu offers a list of Fan Pages and my personal profile name. When I LIKE a post or engage wearing my Fan Page identity, that is the avatar and link that will display - not my personal avatar. Make sure your fan page name is something related to the industry - when someone is interested in what you say and they look at your name, they will click to like your page. 5. 5. Take a look at your advertising budget and consider running a Facebook ad campaign. Many people get confused about Facebook and Google advertising always thinking about the CPC (Cost Per Click) model. However, Facebook has become very smart and you can build your audience more passively by building a "like" campaign and doing this on CPM (Cost per 1000 impressions) basis. This allows you to test out a campaign with a small budget to check conversions and click through rates. If you need help with your advertising, you can send me an email (info@therealtygram.com) or give me a buzz (817-PUBLISH). Here are some great tools I use for Facebook advertising for myself and for my clients, and some additional tools that are highly recommended. Facebook Advertising Resources Facebook Ad Maker - This is a good creative tool I use in my business. It is an extraordinary time saver. I create multiple versions of each ad, then I split test the ads for maximum effectiveness (that means more clicks). The product creator also offers a series of excellent, insightful Webinar replays where he dives deep into the psychology and mechanics of Facebook advertising. The Webinars are priceless. Social Lead Freak - This is extremely powerful lead generation software that lets you collect Facebook IDs of people in groups. You can download an Excel spreadsheet with FB contact information from groups you are a member and open groups where you are not a member! Create highly targeted lists of your best prospects and upload custom audiences to your Facebook advertising dashboard. This is amazing software. Use it wisely, and please don’t abuse it (even if you are very tempted). Pulse Notify - This is VERY cool … easier than email and HIGHLY effective. You don’t see many people using this yet … lots of room for early adopters. I love this. ViralFB Formula - This is a Facebook lead generation system that looks pretty interesting. I have not used it but I hear some people have some good results with it. One-Cent Likes - This is a well done Facebook advertising primer for less than $10. You will get some great ideas about cost effective advertising to build your Facebook Fan Page. $.02 FB Clicks - Internet marketers use this method for cheap clicks … it works for any business. Remember what I said earlier about “profit pressure” from Facebook stockholders? This is the place to capitalize on that pressure. Who knows how long it will last? 6. 6. Q. What is a promoted post? A. After you publish a post, a Promote button will let you pay to bump up its rank in the news feed, making it appear both higher in the feed, and to a larger portion of your friends. Unpromoted posts are typically only seen by 12-16 percent of your friends. After you Promote a post, it will be marked “Sponsored,” and you can check to see how many more people saw it because you have paid. For example, you’d see “So far your post has had 3.8X as many views because you promoted it.” This is a slightly more expensive way of advertising on Facebook but will get you very highly targeted traffic because the people who see your post know you … you already have a relationship with them. Make sure that any post you promote using this method is not a sales pitch. Think long term and use promoted posts to share valuable content, build brand awareness and credibility, not with your existing friends .. they know you. But with friends of friends. When your friends LIKE and SHARE your posts their friends see that engagement and that creates more awareness around your brand. 7. 7. Q. How can I get people to like my Facebook page? A. One of the best ways to get people to engage is to post up fun and entertaining images on your wall. These images are called "memes" and usually have a cool picture with a quote overlayed on them, You can create these using any kind of image editing software. My personal favorite image creation software is The Logo Creator. I created the cover for the handbook using The Logo Creator. (I also used it to create the mastermind group image at the bottom of page 9.) You can use The Logo Creator to create viral images, logos, Fan Page cover photos, timelines photos, and creative images for any social media platform, for blog posts, and sale pages. The creative canvas can be set to any size to create web graphics for any purpose. Infographics is another way to create a viral image. Instant Infographics Presence is an excellent tool - easy to use, economical, and fun. Copyright 2013 Frances Flynn Thorsen All Rights Reserved TheREALTYgram 7
  8. 8. Q. How can I make money with Facebook Apps? A. You want to make revenue? Then have a way to make money when someone clicks through to your app. (ie. paid version of your app, extra credits in your app, affiliate links in your app, advertise here etc.) First you need to make an app and its not actually as difficult as people think. Just pop over to developers.facebook.com and you can find some very simple instructions. A great app would be a free report, something like this one where people would need to "like" or "share" to get the report. If you want to make revenue in a passive way then a report with some affiliate links embedded is a great way to do this. You could also have a link back to your blog or website promoting a training video, which in turn would promote a product. This is a very powerful strategy for gaining exposure. 9. 9. Q. How do I create a Facebook Group? A. From your home page, go to the Groups section on the left side menu and click on Add Group. Click Create New Group. A pop-up box will appear where you'll be able to add a group name, add members and select the privacy setting for your group. Click the Create button when you're finished. Once the group is created you will be taken to the group's page. To get started click at the top right of the page and select Edit Group Settings. From here you can add a group description, set a group email address, add a group picture and manage members. Once you have a group of like minded members you will find that people will really interact, just make sure to add regular contributions yourself. I have several private groups, mostly niche marketing groups in real estate. I maintain those groups for people who purchase marketing systems … it’s a place where users can brainstorm and ask questions, and I can keep them updated on new resources and treat them to marketing goodies I reserve for private customers and clients. Facebook groups let you provide a higher level of service to your customers. I use templates to plan my engagement - GET THEM HERE. I have another private group that is not tied to product purchases. My Real Estate Risk Management group is a place where real estate professionals talk about matters that expose agents and brokers to legal or ethical jeopardy. If you are in real estate, join us! 10. 10. Q. How do I promote my Facebook Page outside of Facebook? A. Facebook gives you a tool called “Badges” you can set up in your Facebook account and distribute to other online properties. As with any type of social media it’s really about "sharing" your page - you can do this by adding a post-dated tweet on Twitter that goes out once per week . You can also have a regular post on your Facebook page, and you might stir some controversy by adding a shocking image with some text … don’t be offensive … that will cost you friends and ding your reputation. YouTube is an awesome tool! Even if you are not a video wizard you can use the free Animoto video maker to do a short 30-second video with music and images, upload to Facebook directly OR upload to YouTube and then add a link to your Facebook page in the YouTube description area. 11. 11. Q. How can I optimize the videos I put on Facebook? A. Generally, the best format to upload is H.264 video with AAC audio in MOV or MP4 format. H.264 currently offers the best video compression available, and due to file size limitations this format is the optimal choice for Facebook Video. To avoid the rescaling of your video by Facebook's encoder, use a file with the larger edge of the video not exceeding 1280px. If your video is less than 1280px in size on the larger edge it can be cut off not showing all of the video, try to keep your dimensions to multiples of 16px for best compression. Keep the frame rate of your video at or below 30fps. Use stereo audio with a sample rate of 44,100hz. Of course, you can keep things simple and just use a YouTube link. If you are interested in video training, I give Video Genesis a FIVE-STAR rating. It does not matter what business you are in, this training is top notch! 12. 12. Q. What is Video Calling On Facebook? A. Call your friends and have a face-to-face chat right on Facebook. Pour yourself a cup of coffee, pull up a chair, and get started. All you need to do is complete a quick one-time setup and you’re ready to call any friend on Facebook. How it works: If you and your friend both have webcams and microphones set up, you'll be able to see and hear each other in real time. If you call friends who don’t have webcams, they’ll be able to see and hear you but you’ll only be able to hear them. Call records: The time and date of each call you make is listed in your ongoing message history with each friend. The calls themselves are not recorded or saved. Multi-tasking: You can continue using chat and other Facebook features during your video call. (Above information kindly shared by Facebook Help) This is a great addition to your communications toolbox if you already use Skype - yourcan create separate contact lists for each application. I’m sure we will are see Facebook monetizing these calls by placing ads in front of callers in the future. Copyright 2013 Frances Flynn Thorsen All Rights Reserved TheREALTYgram 12
  13. 13. Q. How do I tag my friends in a Video? A. To tag one or more of your friends in a video: Navigate to the video you wish to tag. Click "Tag This Video" at the bottom-right of screen, underneath the video. Type the name of each friend you wish to tag in the type-ahead box and click on their name when it is displayed. Do this for each friend you wish to tag. Click "Done Tagging" when you are finished. TAGGING TIP Change your identity to your Fan Page (see page 4) and tag OTHER PAGES in your niche. 14. 14. Q. How can I create a Facebook App with little or no technical skills? Photo Credit: Urs Steiner A. The Getting Started guides on Facebook are designed to provide new developers with all of the tools necessary to begin building an app on Facebook. Building on the Facebook Platform doesn't require special or deep programming skills, though basic website building skills are useful. A very cost effective way of developing an app is to outsource via Elance or Scriptlance and you can probably get a very basic "one function" app added to your page for $30 - $60. This will only provide you one function but make sure to get the developer to provide a spec of the plugin once it is built and then you can use this yourself in the future. Thanks for reading this report and make sure to link up with me on Facebook and let me know what you think.
