Dayaway slide show with the Treasure Coast and the Suwanee River

The Treasure Coast Hutchinson Island area is more reminiscent of the Coast of Maine than Florida as a result of the rise of underwater ancient Anastasia Rock formations. The Nostolgic Elliott Museum hold the over 200 patents of the Elliotts and a fabulous Car Collection. The Lunch is served at the former Francis Lanford's Outrigger Restaurant overlooking the River like the view from a boatride. You can view this daytrip itinerary at

  3. 3. Why do we call it the “Treasure Coast”? The Waters are shallow along the Coastline known as the Florida Straits. The weather as most know can be treacherous on it’s own and when combined with the winds of a hurricane many ships have run aground on the limestone and other rock formations. It was the job of the treasure salvagers to help rescue the items or “booty” of the ships. There were several life saving stations or houses of refuge along the coast which were government issued places assigned to help. There were treasure salvagers in Key West also, however those salvagers and privateers might also be known as “Pirates” and they too obtained treasures but they kept the prizes (see Captain Geiger’s Audubon House) and Key West at one time became the richest little town in America.
