Major race for

CM Gehlot made
two leaders shake
hands, but it seems that
their distance has not
disappeared! Minister
Shale Mohammad and
MLA Ruparam - both
maintain their domi-
nance in Jaisalmer
district, but there is
concern in Congress
due to differences
among themselves.
Panchayat elections
became bitter due to
mutual disputes.
Recently, CM Gehlot
had got them to join
hands in the helicopter,
but according to
sources, the distance
between the two still
persists. Discussion is
going on to change
Ruparam’s seat, but
Ruparam wants to try his
luck again in Jaisalmer,
whereas, Shale Moham-
med had also barely won
the last election.

There is a major
‘race’ for tickets
going on in Congress. At
first, applications were
given before in-charge
and co-in-charge and
after this, one- to- one
interview was also given.
Then the ticket seekers
gave interviews to
members of SEC and
the members of the
screening committee
also didn’t lag behind in
taking the interview.
Later the observers ar-
rived and now they are
also taking one-to-one
interviews. Those who
are asking for tickets for
the first time are having
fun and leaders asking
for tickets for the first
time are not missing out
at all in trying to score
over their competitors.
But senior leaders don’t
like giving interviews like
this, because they have
an idea from where they
get tickets in Congress!

Pilot is a bigger military captain than CM Ashok

WEST WATCHES
KIM’S RUSSIA VISIT
WITH CONCERN
he bonhomie between Vladimir Putin and
Kim Jong Un is causing disquiet in the West
over the possibility of North Korea’s weap-
ons for Russia to be used against Ukraine. There are
other possibilities the West is uncomfortable with.
Russian missile technology reaching North Korea,
whose suspected Inter-continental Ballistic Missile
(ICBM) failed tests in 2022. North Korea’s several
efforts to develop a spy satellite took Kim to Russia’s
Vostochny Cosmodrome indicating that he is seeking
Putin’s help in Pyongyang’s satellite programme.
Russia and North Korea, both communist, are old
friends. Russia had helped Pyongyang in its war
against South Korea and Kim is now returning the
favour. Russian media said that the world was watch-
ing the visit with “bated breath”.
Any transfer of Russian satellite technology to
North Korea and supply of weapons by Pyongyang
for use in the Ukraine conflict are issues the West is
wary of as it could threaten peace in the Korean pen-
insula as in the world.

TB NOT AN EASY MENACE
TO GET RID OF BY 2030
ovid-19 undermined the rate of decline in
tuberculosis-related deaths and India record-
ed over half of these mortalities globally,
says a Lancet Commission report which lays out “an
optimistic vision” for a tuberculosis-free world. Ac-
cording to Global TB and World Health Organisation
reports, of the 16 lakh people who died from TB in
2021, 5.04 lakh were from India. The number of
deaths rose to 16 lakh from 14 lakh in 2019.
Ending the scourge by 2030 is among the United
Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Several ef-
fective measures will be needed to meet the SDG goal

TB in 2018. The key
targets set by the
HLM included treat-

with TB between
2018 and 2022, 3.5
million children with
TB, 1.5 million peo-
ple with drug-resist-

7 million people from
TB after the HLM re-
port “a profound trag-

the urgency of accel-

To meet the TB challenge the Lancet Commission
has outlined some measures. These included optimis-
ing universal access to clinical care for all individu-
als, commitment to ensure access to shorter, less
toxic, oral regimens for both drug-resistant and drug-
sensitive TB, commitment to implement social pro-
tection strategies for all people without their having
to incur prohibitive costs.
TB still has a stigma attached to it. The Lancet
report calls for addressing stigma, gender and human
rights barriers.

he world
“out there” is
so visible
and tangible
that it begs
us to accept it. Most people
would shake their heads at
the opposite notion, that
the physical world is a mi-
rage. But this is a major
sticking point. Many if not
most spiritual traditions
consider that the average
person is bound up in illu-
sions. Depending on what
tradition you respect,
God’s goodness is masked
by sin, which is one kind of
illusion, or the whole world
is Maya, a distraction from
divine reality, which is the
ultimate illusion.
But whenever opposites
are in play, a third way has
been overlooked. The con-
test between “The world is
real”and“Theworldisillu-
sion” will never be settled,
to judge by human history
over the past two millennia.
This leaves an opening for
a third way, which focuses
onhowanythingandevery-
thing is created.
Quantum theory is in-
tricate and confusing,
but it can be believed on
two points:
l There is an uncreated state
before anything physical
pops into the universe; this
uncreated state contains
virtual reality, which blos-
soms into space, time,
matter, and energy.
l When you observe a quan-
tum event, its path is un-
predictable. Any outcome
is possible, according to a
range of probabilities.
In a simple analogy,
when a baseball is flying
through the air, its outcome
hasn’t been determined.
Maybe an outfielder will
catch it, maybe not. Maybe
it will be a foul ball or fly
over the fence for a home
run.The baseball in flight is
like quantum uncertainty,
which is only settled once
the ball reaches its fate.
Nowtakethesetwoideas
andmergethem.Thereisan
uncreatedstatethatemerges
but without a certain path.
Now you have a plausible
answertohowanythingand
everything is created. The
uncreated state is like a
painter staring at a blank
canvas and a palette loaded
with colors. The possibility
of painting any picture ex-
ists until the moment when
the painter decides what he
is actually going to paint.
Going a step further
once he knows what to
paint, the very first dip of
his brush into the first dab
of color signifies the whole
picture that is going to
emerge. Even if the next
hundred dabs of the brush
on the palette look random,
they are in service of a
painting that already exists
in the artist’s mind.
So, do we create the
world in the same way?
Some major clues pile up
on the side of yes. The first
two clues are the quantum
principles just stated. The
next clue is language. Be-
fore you have a thought or
make a statement, your en-
tire vocabulary is available
in a pre-created state. Only
when specific words come
out does mental reality or
speech take shape. And
even then, there is not a de-
terminedoutcome.Aphrase
that begins, “I want” can
finish with anything at all.
What we’ve been doing
is coupling individual con-
sciousness with cosmic
consciousness. Creating
the world requires both, ac-
cording to the Vedic tradi-
tion in India. A person has
a perception, and Nature
delivers. But the reverse is
also true. Nature delivers
an object in spacetime, and
a person perceives it.
Thus a feedback loop is
created, and it is seamless.
I recall from reading in a
philosophy book the ques-
tion, “Are we thinking, or
are we being thought?”The
answer is both. Likewise, if
you ask, “Does the brain
create the mind or vice
versa?” the answer is both.
Quantum reality isn’t line-
ar. There is no direct cause
Afor effect B.The two col-
lapse into a single event
once the event is complete.
It’s like a baseball batter
hitting that ball that can go
anywhere. The batter isn’t
out until one event hap-
pens, and he doesn’t hit a
base run unless another
event happens. The hitter
and the ball are both inde-
termined together (quan-
tum physics calls this the
state of superposition).
Thereisapoint,however,
where physics falls short of
Vedic knowledge. Physics
hasn’tfiguredouthowtoget
from the tiniest objects and
events, which all occur in
the strangeness of quantum
reality, to big objects and
events in the everyday
world. In fact, for over a
century physics has been
living with two successful
theories, quantum mechan-
ics and Einstein’s General
Theory of Relativity, with-
out finding a way to make
them match up; they remain
totally incompatible.
Nature’s answer, adopt-
ed by Vedanta, is “Never
mind.” Lacking a valid
theory, somehow creation
proceeds unflustered. Ob-
jects and events move from
pre-creation to quantum
uncertainty and finally land
in everyday reality as
rocks, trees, heart cells,
proteins, and galaxies. The
Vedic explanation for this
is quite systematic: Nature
changes gears at different
levels of creation. Like a
conveyor belt on an auto
assembly line, every event
or object moves from sta-
tion to station where it ac-
quires new characteristics.
One station is virtual real-
ity, the next is quantum re-
ality, then atomic and mo-
lecular reality, and so on.
How does Nature keep
track of the zillions of ob-
jects and events that need to
ride the same conveyor
belt? The only possible an-
swer is cosmic conscious-
ness. Nature knows in ad-
vance where each object
and event needs to go, but
with tons of wiggle room
for creative changes. The
creative process is 100%
rigid and 100% flexible.As
proof, that’s exactly how
your brain operates. Every
electrochemical reaction in
a brain cell is rigidly gov-
ernedbythelawsofphysics
and chemistry. Yet you are
completely free to say, do,
think, and feel across an in-
finite range of possibilities.
What I’ve sketched in is
a picture where individual
creation and cosmic crea-
tion are a single process.
Some questions remain.
Are we creating only small,
individual aspects of the
world, like a chef making
one dish at a time? Why are
big things like stars and
mountains so stable—Is it
really true that we are cre-
ating them?The answers to
these questions must be
consistent, and in Vedanta
they are. The conveyor belt
of creation has myriad des-
tinations. Some objects get
off the conveyor belt when
they become atoms, others
when they become moun-
tains, stars, baseballs, and
baseball players.To the hu-
man eye, these things look
completely different and
separate, but that’s the ulti-
mate illusion. In reality,
each of us exists as a co-
creator of the world, seam-
lessly merging with cosmic
creativity.
THE VIEWS EXPRESSED BY

Prime Minister Narendra
Modi on Thursday took a
dig at the Congress-led
Bhupesh Baghel govern-
ment in Chhattisgarh say-
ing that the latter’s gov-
ernment has even in-
dulged in cow dung scam.
“Imagine the mentality
of a person who practices
corruption in cow dung,”
the Prime Minister ques-
tioned speaking at a pub-
lic event in Raigarh.
The Bharatiya Janata
Party (BJP) which is in
opposition in the state
has alleged scam in cow
dung procurement under
the state’s Gaudhan Nyay
Yojana.
Slamming the Con-
gress government, the
PM said, “The kind of
scams the Congress prac-
tices, fills up the coffers
of their leaders. Though
they have fallen back in
poverty alleviation, the
Congress government is
moving forward in cor-
ruption.”
“We wanted to stop
liquor sales in Chhattis-
garh but the Congress
started scam in liquor
sale itself...The mineral
wealth of Chhattisgarh is
being used as Congress’
ATM. False propaganda
and rampant corruption
are the hallmarks of the
Congress government in
Chhattisgarh,” he added.
PM Modi said that had
the Congress done its
work sincerely it would
have been easy for him
today.

Speaking on the
progress of the state
in eliminating Naxal-

“There was a time when
Chhattisgarh was known
only for Naxalite attacks
and violence. After the
efforts of the BJP govern-
ment, today Chhattisgarh is
being recognised because
of the development work
done here,” said PM Modi in
Raigarh. “The BJP govern-
ment of Delhi is leaving no
stone unturned for the de-
velopment of Chhattisgarh.
But the Congress govern-
ment here is not engaged in
development work but only
in empty talk and claims,”
the PM added.
PM STRESSES ON SELF-RELIANCE IN AMRIT KAAL
Emphasising that “new India” is witnessing
transformation at a rapid pace, Prime Minister
Narendra Modi averred on Thursday that in
“Amrit Kaal” every citizen has resolved to make Bharat
a developed nation but self-reliance is imperative for at-
taining that cherished goal. Describing his dispensation
as a sensitive government that toils for the deprived
and reaches every dwelling, the Prime Minister men-
tioned the milestones crossed vis-à-vis combating the
pandemic and providing free ration.

was globe-trotting to
find her purpose,
when destiny smiled,
and brought her back to her roots in
Jaipur! An alumnus of Maharani
Gayatri Devi Girls’ School (MGD)
and a fashion designer by profession,
her formative years were spent in the
effervescence of the spirit of trinkets
and crafts of Rajasthan.
Upon her return, then in 2017, the
stage was set! Rajasthan had meta-
morphosed into a wedding destina-
tion and the trend was catching con-
tagion with ‘Made in Rajasthan’fer-
vour for the big fat Indian wedding.
Fromthedestinationtocoutureto
gems embedded in traditional de-
signs, the timing was just right for a
buddingentrepreneurtotakewings.
And that’s when Pankhuri, set eve-
rything aside to delve and blossom
tofillinthevoidofcraftingcustom

“It was the year 2017, while in
London,Iwasinspiredtosetupmy
own outlet to fill the existing void
in custom made jewellery. Having
launched 2-3 jewellery brands in the
USandLondonspecializinginbridal,
I felt the time was right. Convinced
that my designs could address a gap
in the market, I took the plunge and
in 2018 launched my own brand in
Jaipur.Thegoingcouldnothavebeen
better!” quipped Pankhuri.
With the spade work done from
scratch, she pioneered and ventured
in customisation with exquisite
handmade pieces in ubiqui-
tous uncut diamond (pol-
ki), jadau, precious and
semi-precious stones in
silver that was lac-
quered and gold plat-
ed. The final product
in gold was in sync
with the traditional,
albeit with a new
spirit.
“The tradition-
al yet modern
spintothepieces
made them a perfect choice for the
NRI weddings and filled a void that
catered to an entirely new segment.
Even with those that could afford,
flaunting status with just gold jewel-
lerywasbecominganalternateoption
consigned to just one or two pieces
for the main event. For every other
event, now they could bank on cus-
tom made jewellery!” said Pankhuri.
Besides, with the trend of destina-
tion weddings, none wanted the bur-
den of carrying real gold jewellery to
weddings’when they could do with
exotic silver, plated with gold pieces,
that looked just as exotic.Add to that,
what in gold would cost them 18-20
lakh now they could customize in
merely 2.5 to three lakhs.
“Today’s brides are incredibly in-
telligentandsensibleanddonotwant
to spend a bomb on wedding jewel-
lery. They want their bridal jewellery
to be light so that it can be used after
theweddingtoo.Whilemostinvestin
likes of a Tarun Tahiliani, Manish

thewedding,theywantjewellerythat
can be teamed beautifully later with
their everyday wear. Women now
want to enjoy their fine jewellery as
second skin. They do not want their
purchases to be dictated by occasions
that come around only once or twice
a year,” says Pankhudi.
Customisation in jewellery has
been a running theme since 2022
and is geared to get only bigger in
the coming years. Mass-produced
jewellery does not cut it anymore.
Clients want their pieces to stand
out. This trend of creating jewellery
pieces that are unique to an indi-
vidual, deliberately versatile, light-
weight and re-wearable to suit mul-
tiple occasions, makes them a con-
scious luxury buy.
Six years in the trade, Pankhuri
feels,beyondallthat,choiceofjewel-
lery is about self-expression. “It is
who you are. Daily fine jewellery is a
style statement and defines you as a
person,” says Pankhuri with a grow-

CM Gehlot made two leaders shake hands, but it seems that their distance has not disappeared! Panchayat elections became bitter due to mutual disputes. Recently, CM Gehlot had got them to join hands in the helicopter, but according to sources, the distance between the two still persists. Discussion is going on to change Ruparam’s seat, but Ruparam wants to try his luck again in Jaisalmer, whereas, Shale Moham- med had also barely won the last election. Later the observers ar- rived and now they are also taking one-to-one interviews. Those who are asking for tickets for the first time are having fun and leaders asking for tickets for the first time are not missing out at all in trying to score over their competitors. T TB NOT AN EASY MENACE TO GET RID OF BY 2030 ovid-19 undermined the rate of decline in tuberculosis-related deaths and India record- ed over half of these mortalities globally, says a Lancet Commission report which lays out “an optimistic vision” for a tuberculosis-free world. Ac- cording to Global TB and World Health Organisation reports, of the 16 lakh people who died from TB in 2021, 5.04 lakh were from India. The number of deaths rose to 16 lakh from 14 lakh in 2019. Ending the scourge by 2030 is among the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Several ef- fective measures will be needed to meet the SDG goal andthestifftargetsset bytheUNHighLevel Meeting (HLM) on TB in 2018. The key targets set by the HLM included treat- ing 40 million people with TB between 2018 and 2022, 3.5 million children with TB, 1.5 million peo- ple with drug-resist- ant TB and putting at least 30 million peo- ple on TB Preventive Treatment. Some of these targets remain unachieved. The Lan- cet Commission re- portcallsthedeathsof 7 million people from TB after the HLM re- port “a profound trag- edy and a reminder of the urgency of accel- erating momentum”. To meet the TB challenge the Lancet Commission has outlined some measures. These included optimis- ing universal access to clinical care for all individu- als, commitment to ensure access to shorter, less toxic, oral regimens for both drug-resistant and drug- sensitive TB, commitment to implement social pro- tection strategies for all people without their having to incur prohibitive costs. Most people would shake their heads at the opposite notion, that the physical world is a mi- rage. But this is a major sticking point. Many if not most spiritual traditions consider that the average person is bound up in illu- sions. Depending on what tradition you respect, God’s goodness is masked by sin, which is one kind of illusion, or the whole world is Maya, a distraction from divine reality, which is the ultimate illusion. But whenever opposites are in play, a third way has been overlooked. The con- test between “The world is real”and“Theworldisillu- sion” will never be settled, to judge by human history over the past two millennia. This leaves an opening for a third way, which focuses onhowanythingandevery- thing is created. Quantum theory is in- tricate and confusing, but it can be believed on two points: l There is an uncreated state before anything physical pops into the universe; this uncreated state contains virtual reality, which blos- soms into space, time, matter, and energy. l When you observe a quan- tum event, its path is un- predictable. Any outcome is possible, according to a range of probabilities. In a simple analogy, when a baseball is flying through the air, its outcome hasn’t been determined. Maybe an outfielder will catch it, maybe not. Maybe it will be a foul ball or fly over the fence for a home run.The baseball in flight is like quantum uncertainty, which is only settled once the ball reaches its fate. Nowtakethesetwoideas andmergethem.Thereisan uncreatedstatethatemerges but without a certain path. Now you have a plausible answertohowanythingand everything is created. The uncreated state is like a painter staring at a blank canvas and a palette loaded with colors. The possibility of painting any picture ex- ists until the moment when the painter decides what he is actually going to paint. Going a step further once he knows what to paint, the very first dip of his brush into the first dab of color signifies the whole picture that is going to emerge. Even if the next hundred dabs of the brush on the palette look random, they are in service of a painting that already exists in the artist’s mind. So, do we create the world in the same way? Some major clues pile up on the side of yes. The first two clues are the quantum principles just stated. The next clue is language. Be- fore you have a thought or make a statement, your en- tire vocabulary is available in a pre-created state. Only when specific words come out does mental reality or speech take shape. And even then, there is not a de- terminedoutcome.Aphrase that begins, “I want” can finish with anything at all. What we’ve been doing is coupling individual con- sciousness with cosmic consciousness. Creating the world requires both, ac- cording to the Vedic tradi- tion in India. A person has a perception, and Nature delivers. But the reverse is also true. Nature delivers an object in spacetime, and a person perceives it. Thus a feedback loop is created, and it is seamless. I recall from reading in a philosophy book the ques- tion, “Are we thinking, or are we being thought?”The answer is both. Likewise, if you ask, “Does the brain create the mind or vice versa?” the answer is both. Quantum reality isn’t line- ar. There is no direct cause Afor effect B.The two col- lapse into a single event once the event is complete. It’s like a baseball batter hitting that ball that can go anywhere. The batter isn’t out until one event hap- pens, and he doesn’t hit a base run unless another event happens. The hitter and the ball are both inde- termined together (quan- tum physics calls this the state of superposition). Thereisapoint, however, where physics falls short of Vedic knowledge. Physics hasn’tfiguredouthowtoget from the tiniest objects and events, which all occur in the strangeness of quantum reality, to big objects and events in the everyday world. In fact, for over a century physics has been living with two successful theories, quantum mechan- ics and Einstein’s General Theory of Relativity, with- out finding a way to make them match up; they remain totally incompatible. Nature’s answer, adopt- ed by Vedanta, is “Never mind.” Lacking a valid theory, somehow creation proceeds unflustered. Ob- jects and events move from pre-creation to quantum uncertainty and finally land in everyday reality as rocks, trees, heart cells, proteins, and galaxies. The Vedic explanation for this is quite systematic: Nature changes gears at different levels of creation. Like a conveyor belt on an auto assembly line, every event or object moves from sta- tion to station where it ac- quires new characteristics. One station is virtual real- ity, the next is quantum re- ality, then atomic and mo- lecular reality, and so on. How does Nature keep track of the zillions of ob- jects and events that need to ride the same conveyor belt? The only possible an- swer is cosmic conscious- ness. Nature knows in ad- vance where each object and event needs to go, but with tons of wiggle room for creative changes. The creative process is 100% rigid and 100% flexible. As proof, that’s exactly how your brain operates. Every electrochemical reaction in a brain cell is rigidly gov- ernedbythelawsofphysics and chemistry. Yet you are completely free to say, do, think, and feel across an in- finite range of possibilities. What I’ve sketched in is a picture where individual creation and cosmic crea- tion are a single process. Some questions remain. Are we creating only small, individual aspects of the world, like a chef making one dish at a time? Why are big things like stars and mountains so stable—Is it really true that we are cre- ating them? The answers to these questions must be consistent, and in Vedanta they are. The conveyor belt of creation has myriad des- tinations. Some objects get off the conveyor belt when they become atoms, others when they become moun- tains, stars, baseballs, and baseball players. To the hu- man eye, these things look completely different and separate, but that’s the ulti- mate illusion. In reality, each of us exists as a co- creator of the world, seam- lessly merging with cosmic creativity. THE VIEWS EXPRESSED BY THE AUTHOR ARE PERSONAL ASPECTS OF CREATION What I’ve sketched in is a picture where individual creation and cosmic crea- tion are a single process. Some questions remain. Are we creating only small, individual aspects of the world, like a chef making one dish at a time? Why are big things like stars and mountains so stable— Is it really true that we are creating them? The an- swers to these questions must be consistent, and in Vedanta they are. The conveyor belt of creation has myriad destinations. Some objects get off the conveyor belt when they become atoms, others when they become moun- tains, stars, baseballs, and baseball players. To the human eye, these things look completely different and separate, but that’s the ultimate illusion. In re- ality, each of us exists as a co-creator of the world, seamlessly merging with cosmic creativity. AREWECREATING THEWORLD? The world “out there” is so visible and tangible that it begs us to accept it. Most people would shake their heads at the opposite notion, that the physical world is a mirage. Your Page JAIPUR, FRIDAY | SEPTEMBER 15, 2023 10 firstindia.co.in firstindia.co.in/epapers/jaipur thefirstindia thefirstindia thefirstindia Your Page t takes time to find yourcalling.31-year- oldPankhuriDhingra was globe-trotting to find her purpose, when destiny smiled, and brought her back to her roots in Jaipur! An alumnus of Maharani Gayatri Devi Girls’ School (MGD) and a fashion designer by profession, her formative years were spent in the effervescence of the spirit of trinkets and crafts of Rajasthan. Upon her return, then in 2017, the stage was set! Rajasthan had meta- morphosed into a wedding destina- tion and the trend was catching con- tagion with ‘Made in Rajasthan’fer- vour for the big fat Indian wedding. Fromthedestinationtocoutureto gems embedded in traditional de- signs, the timing was just right for a buddingentrepreneurtotakewings. And that’s when Pankhuri, set eve- rything aside to delve and blossom tofillinthevoidofcraftingcustom made jewellery. “It was the year 2017, while in London,Iwasinspiredtosetupmy own outlet to fill the existing void in custom made jewellery. Having launched 2-3 jewellery brands in the USandLondonspecializinginbridal, I felt the time was right. Convinced that my designs could address a gap in the market, I took the plunge and in 2018 launched my own brand in Jaipur.Thegoingcouldnothavebeen better!” quipped Pankhuri. With the spade work done from scratch, she pioneered and ventured in customisation with exquisite handmade pieces in ubiqui- tous uncut diamond (pol- ki), jadau, precious and semi-precious stones in silver that was lac- quered and gold plat- ed. The final product in gold was in sync with the traditional, albeit with a new spirit. “The tradition- al yet modern spintothepieces made them a perfect choice for the NRI weddings and filled a void that catered to an entirely new segment. Even with those that could afford, flaunting status with just gold jewel- lerywasbecominganalternateoption consigned to just one or two pieces for the main event. For every other event, now they could bank on cus- tom made jewellery!” said Pankhuri. Besides, with the trend of destina- tion weddings, none wanted the bur- den of carrying real gold jewellery to weddings’when they could do with exotic silver, plated with gold pieces, that looked just as exotic.Add to that, what in gold would cost them 18-20 lakh now they could customize in merely 2.5 to three lakhs. “Today’s brides are incredibly in- telligentandsensibleanddonotwant to spend a bomb on wedding jewel- lery. They want their bridal jewellery to be light so that it can be used after theweddingtoo.Whilemostinvestin likes of a Tarun Tahiliani, Manish Malhotra, or a Sabyasachi outfit for thewedding, theywantjewellerythat can be teamed beautifully later with their everyday wear. Women now want to enjoy their fine jewellery as second skin. They do not want their purchases to be dictated by occasions that come around only once or twice a year,” says Pankhudi. Customisation in jewellery has been a running theme since 2022 and is geared to get only bigger in the coming years. Mass-produced jewellery does not cut it anymore. Clients want their pieces to stand out. This trend of creating jewellery pieces that are unique to an indi- vidual, deliberately versatile, light- weight and re-wearable to suit mul- tiple occasions, makes them a con- scious luxury buy. Six years in the trade, Pankhuri feels,beyondallthat,choiceofjewel- lery is about self-expression. “It is who you are. Daily fine jewellery is a style statement and defines you as a person,” says Pankhuri with a grow- ing list of celebrities that to name a fewincludethelikesofSushmitaSen and Sangeeta Ghosh! The top fashion trends for 2023, focus on sustainability, innovation, and self-expression. Against the backdrop, we dig into the jewellery boxes of a growing tribe of Indian women who are investing in the precious bling as an everyday wear and not to just relegate it to their bank locker after the big day!
