A Look at Securitization

  1. 1. A LOOK AT SECURITIZATION By Firminy Capital Sarl
  2. 2. Introduction  The team at Firminy Capital Sarl, a Luxembourg- based financial firm, has experience in the banking, structured finance, and securitization industries. Investors who work with Firminy Capital Sarl have the support of experienced professionals who specialize in helping individuals and companies invest in securitization. Securitization involves the transforming of illiquid assets into a security. An illiquid asset is an investment that cannot be quickly or simply sold without significantly diminishing the value of its return, such as a vehicle or a home.
  3. 3. Securitization  Conversely, a liquid asset would be an easily sellable investment, such as a stock or bond. During the securitization process, illiquid assets are financially restructured in order to become more easily purchased and sold. To accomplish this, illiquid assets are grouped together in a way that produces capital for investors. Common types of securitizations include asset-backed securities, which can be comprised of illiquid assets such as home equity loans, auto loans, or student loans.
