In 2008, Fingrid launched a project, the aim of which was to build a new information system that supported asset and operation management and was based on product-based solutions. This new data system that supports asset and operation management goes by the name of ELVIS (an acronym for ELectricity Verkko Information System).

Setting calculation and Simulation - CAPE • Combines ALL ELVIS information • To visualize settings • To analyze co-operation of the relays in different scenarios • To find root causes for the faults occurred in the network • To make setting calculation (more) "automatic" • Also used in the hazardous voltage process
  9. 9. Reporting • Fault statistics e.g. failure rate of a certain relay type is accelerating • Repair time tracking from fault to commissioning • Info for setters about changes in CT or VT ratios and power line data • Light reports by using effective filtering inside IPS
