Technology : definition <ul><li>My definition of technology is broad. most people would easily consider computers and the internet technology, but what about vitamins? if you think of technology as things people create to use to alter their lifestyle or their surroundings, then vitamins are a technology. </li></ul><ul><li>Technology is concerned mostly with machines, and the infrastructure behind those machines. behind things like radios and telephones and bicycles, there is an entire structure of less visible technologies (in this case radio towers, phone wires and roads). </li></ul><ul><li>When you look at all these machines, and the machines in turn behind them, and those behind them, and so on, you find an immense network of technology exists today. here we take that network apart and look at where people fit in, and where people make choices about those machines. </li></ul>

Technology as a Sociotechnical System: The manufacture and use of objects involving people and other objects in combination </li></ul>

Use of Technology for Financial Modeling <ul><li>Financial modeling is the task of building a financial model, a tool designed to forecast the performance of a business, project, or any other form of financial investment. A financial model uses relationships among macro-economic, operating, investing, tax, accounting, and financing variables to predict performance. The central aim of financial modeling is to forecast under uncertainty, and a financial model must allow multiple scenarios to be run efficiently. </li></ul><ul><li>Examples: Financial modeling for airports, Metro Rail, Ports, Highways, Express ways etc. </li></ul>

Use of Technology in Traffic Engineering <ul><li>Traffic engineering is a branch of civil engineering that uses engineering techniques to achieve the safe and efficient movement of people and goods. It focuses mainly on research and construction of the immobile infrastructure necessary for this movement, such as roads, railway tracks, bridges, traffic signs and traffic lights. </li></ul>

Use of Technology as ITS <ul><li>The term intelligent transportation system (ITS) refers to efforts to add information and communications technology to transport infrastructure and vehicles in an effort to manage factors that typically are at odds with each other, such as vehicles, loads, and routes to improve safety and reduce vehicle wear, transportation times, and fuel consumption. </li></ul>

Use of technology in traffic signal lights <ul><li>The traffic light, also known as traffic signal, stop light, traffic lamp, stop-and-go lights, robot or semaphore, is a signaling device positioned at a road intersection, pedestrian crossing, or other location. Its purpose is to indicate, using a series of colors (Red - Amber - Green), the correct moment to stop, drive, ride or walk, using a universal color code (and a precise sequence, for those who are color blind). </li></ul>

  14. 14. Technology use in construction <ul><li>In the fields of architecture and civil engineering, construction is a process that consists of the building or assembling of infrastructure. Far from being a single activity, large scale construction is a feat of multitasking. Normally the job is managed by the project manager and supervised by the construction manager, design engineer, construction engineer or project architect. </li></ul><ul><li>For the successful execution of a project, effective planning is essential. Those involved with the design and execution of the infrastructure in question must consider the environmental impact of the job, the successful scheduling, budgeting, site safety, availability of materials, logistics, inconvenience to the public caused by construction delays, preparing tender documents, etc . </li></ul>
  15. 15. Nuclear Technology <ul><li>Nuclear technology is technology that involves the reactions of atomic nuclei. It has found applications from smoke detectors to nuclear reactors, and from gun sights to nuclear weapons. There is a great deal of public concern about its possible implications, and every application of nuclear technology is reviewed with care. </li></ul>
