Introducing The Fairness Coalition

 1. 2. An Introduction

Beginning in 2010, small groups of concerned citizens began discussing whether there might be a new approach to politics – something that transcended the confusing rhetoric of the traditional parties.

This discussion began in Ohio – not in Washington D.C. This discussion was not directed or paid for by any major interest group.

Our goal was to come up with a new political construct - one that was consistent with our values and would improve the political climate.

 2. 3. Who We Are

We are citizens, activists, concerned Americans from a wide spectrum of demographic backgrounds.

We are people who believe that the current mainstream political groups or parties have adopted a negative and self-destructive path.

We are people who believe that politics can be positive, productive and logically consistent – that rhetoric can be clear, honest and traceable to policy.

We believe that ordinary Americans must be heard. We believe in Fairness as an overriding principle for everything else in politics.

 3. 4. Politics is more than a popularity contest – it is the mechanism which defines the nature of our society. Failure in the operational aspects of politics is simply not an option. There must be a balanced, Fair approach.
 4. 5. What We Represent

We represent ordinary Americans – primarily the middle class.

We represent the entrepreneurial spirit – American Small Business.

We represent small-town and traditional values – hard work and integrity.

We represent proven ideas and policies that work – not unproven philosophies presented by selfish special interests. We don’t believe in “Magic Happens Here.”

We represent the greater good.

 5. 6. The Fairness Coalition

This Coalition is an open construct. It is open in terms of membership and in terms of its philosophical diversity.

We reject the current popular notions of what is Liberal or Conservative. Those definitions have been manipulated so much over the years that they no longer have much meaning.

We are only concerned with whether Americans can have the opportunity to judge whether a political position or policy is Fair or Unfair.

This is a Coalition of the people, for the people, by the people.

 6. 7. What We Aren’t

The Fairness Coalition is not a political party, yet.

The Fairness Coalition is not a interest group or any type of group – it is a set of ideas and a way to measure politics. There is no formal membership.

The Fairness Coalition is not a front group for other special interests.

The Fairness Coalition is not part of any media or journalism related outlet.

The Fairness Coalition is not trying to take your money. We operate in the “Marketplace of Ideas.”

 7. 8. Mission Statement

The primary mission of The Fairness Coalition is simple; it is to ensure that every political issue or decision is evaluated in the context of what’s Fair - not merely by what may be politically expedient.

We can apply basic tests or questions to each issue – for example; “does this position or policy harm far more people than it helps?”

The Fairness Coalition is meant to provide a mechanism to break through the animosity that has deliberately been instilled between Right & Left and to restore faith in our political system.

 8. 9. What is Fairness ?

Fairness is the opportunity to be heard and to have your voice be weighed equally.

Fairness is the even and balanced application of power or authority without favoritism.

Fairness is the ability to speak the truth without fear of retribution and to advocate solutions for all.

Fairness is a government of the people – not of the transaction.

Fairness is rooted in the American psyche and is the basis for the American Dream – it supports the basic premise that all of us are equal and can advance based upon merit and hard work.

 9. 10. Applying Fairness to Politics

Fairness can be applied to any issue, any position, any political agenda. There are three core dimensions in Politics:

A Personal Dimension

An Economic Dimension

A Political Dimension

Fairness can be translated to each of these dimensions:

A Fair Chance (for the ordinary American)

Fair Economics

Fair Government

 10. 11. The Fairness Coalition will offer a new perspective to American politics. We will begin assessing issues and policies based upon Fairness Tests and we will let you be the judge of what makes sense. We’re not here to tell you what to think – we’re here to give you the tools to start sorting through complex issues .
 11. 12. Conclusion

The Fairness Coalition consists of ordinary Americans who are tired of the direction the country is going in.

We began this effort from the Heartland, outside the beltway, because we know that true change cannot happen inside of Washington.

We represent the countless Americans who no longer identify with existing parties or activist groups. This is not about remaking America into some new Liberal or Conservative vision – it is about restoring America to the successful formula it employed in the latter half of the 20th Century . That America respected and supported Fairness – and as a result became the most powerful, prosperous nation in the history of mankind.
