SUPPORT TO THE ATTAINMENT OF VISION 2030 THROUGH
DEVOLVED LAND REFORMS IN COMMUNITY LANDS OF
KENYA
Start Date: 29th September 2016
End Date: 28th September 2021
Partners: National Government, National Land Commission, County Governments (of Tana River, West Pokot,
Turkana, Baringo, Marsabit, Samburu, Nandi and Laikipia) and Civil society Organization
Objectives: ‘Improve food and nutrition security through equitable and secure access and management of
land for better livelihoods and socioeconomic development in all counties as per Vision 2030’
Outcome; ‘to improve decentralized Land Governance of Community Lands in ASAL counties of Kenya’
The 4 outputs to achieve this outcome are:
Output 1: Inclusive land management and administration enhanced in selected counties.
Output 2: Participatory land use planning methodology established and planning completed in selected
counties.
Output 3: Land Policy and legal framework for improved land governance in counties established in line with
the VGGT.
Output 4: Knowledge management and capacity of research institutions on national land issues
strengthened.

• Establishment of the Multi stakeholder committee at National Level
and county level (including, 3 arms of government, CSO’s, Private
sector)
• Technical contribution to various policy work at National and county
level
• Awareness of the legal framework, land use planning
• Research and assessment of various aspects in relation to communal
tenure including wetlands, pastoralism etc

delays processes

• Continuous nurturing and maintaining stakeholders mechanisms
• Aligning programme work with Government and beneficiaries
objectives (CIDPs / land registry).
• Programme works involves process which are long and require a lot of
involvement of all stakeholders especially the communities and
government for ownership.
• Linkages of all programme activities around administration and land
use planning
