SIDS Accelerated Modalities of Action (S.A.M.O.A) Pathway • Outcome of the Third International Conference on Small Island Developing States (SIDS Conference), 1-4 September 2014, Samoa. • Mandate of FAO – Paragraph 61 "We recognize the call, in the outcome of the interregional preparatory meeting for the third International Conference on Small Island Developing States, adopted in Bridgetown on 28 August 2013, to facilitate a meeting on food and nutrition security in small island developing States in order to develop an action programme to address food and nutrition challenges facing those States, and we invite the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations to facilitate this biennial forum."
  3. 3. S.A.M.O.A Pathway Follow-Up • The Ministerial Meeting on Food Security and Climate Adaptation in SIDS in the margins of EXPO 2015 (Milan, Italy 14 – 16 October 2015) • H.E. Mr. Paolo Gentiloni, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Italy announced USD 2.0 Million dollars as voluntary contribution to the recently launched FAO’s Climate Change Trust Fund for Small Islands Developing States. • An indicative road map has been prepared towards fulfilling paragraph 61 of the S.A.M.O.A Pathway. • It proposes consultative processes based on the FAO regional conference that will culminate on the final outcome presented at the margins of FAO conference in 2017.
