  10. 10. Financiamiento de la AMS  La FAO cubre al Secretariado y algunos recursos a través de Programas de Cooperación Técnica y otros fondos. FAO no es donante.  Los recursos para implementar las actividades de la AMS en su mayoria vienen de donantes.  Estos se catalizan a través de propuestas que desarrolla el Secretariado.  La Healthy Soils Facility ha sido establecida con ese fin.

GSP Implementation  An Intergovernmental Technical Panel on Soils (ITPS): established and providing scientific guidance in cooperation with other panels.  Annual GSP Plenary Assembly: countries/partners coming together to discuss about soils under development agenda  Normative tools and Global and Regional Implementation Plans ready to implemented with the support of the Healthy Soils Facility  9 Regional and Sub-regional Soil Partnerships: bringing countries and partners together for a common goal.  Awareness raising platforms: World Soil Day, Glinka World Soil Prize, website, newsletter, social media, etc.

  15. 15. 2015 • Erosión, compactación, acidificación, contaminación, sellado, salinización, anegamiento, desequilibrio de nutrientes, pérdidas en la biodiversidad y del carbono orgánico del suelo (COS) • Con motivo del Año Internacional de los Suelos (FAO y GTIS, 2015) sintetiza el robusto trabajo de 200 científicos que nos brindan una perspectiva global sobre el estado actual de los suelos, su función clave en brindar servicios ecosistémicos y las constantes amenazas a estos servicios identificadas

  21. 21. 22 Outcomes of the 5th GSP Plenary Assembly Endorsement of Pillar 5 Implementation Plan and support its execution, including the establishment of regional and a Global Soil Laboratory Network (GLOSOLAN) Suggestion to seek assistance and support from countries with experience in harmonization

Why does GSP need a GLOSOLAN? • Make soil information across laboratories, countries and regions comparable and interpretable • Build a set of agreed harmonization principles • Improve quality control and assurance of soil analyses • Promote information and experience exchange to develop capacities wherever needed 23

First Meeting of the GLOSOLAN, FAO Headquarters, Rome, 1-2 Nov 2017 25 Launch of GLOSOLAN: 1-2 November 2017 25 Roadmap and main decisions: GLOSOLAN Chair: Ms. Nopmanee Suvannang (Thailand, SEALNET leader) GLOSOLAN Vice-Chair: Dr. Bhanooduth Lalljee (University of Mauritius and Chair of Pillar 5 within the ITPS) GLOSOLAN Working Group: Maksym Solokha (Ukraine), Nicolas Proix (France), Rosa Cuevas (Mexico) and Floria Bertsch (Costa Rica). The working group is open to further members Note: all the herewith reported activities/decisions were developed/executed/agreed with the GLOSOLAN Chair, Vice-Chair and Working Group as part of the implementation of actions identified during the first GLOSOLAN meeting. Additionally, the GSP Chair for Pillar 5 was consulted.

Launch of GLOSOLAN: 1-2 November 2017 26 Roadmap and main decisions: Action Status GSP Secretariat to finalize the list of reference labs in all countries by the end of December 2017 the latest. Executed! Finalization and launch of the first online survey in GLOSOLAN Executed! The online survey will close on 30 March 2018. On 22 February 2018 the GSP Secretariat counts 51 complete responses Questionnaire evaluation in form of a report by Chair, Co-Chair and GSP Secretariat, supported by an ad-hoc Working Group. Evaluation to be communicated back to GLOSOLAN members, Pillar 5 Working Group and Chairs of the Regional Soil Partnerships. Pending. Deadline: end of April 2018

Launch of GLOSOLAN: 1-2 November 2017 27 Roadmap and main decisions: Action Status Support the establishment of RESOLANs where needed by using the results of the questionnaire and the identified gaps. • First meeting of RESOLAN for Asia (SEALNET) organized on 20-24 November 2017 • First meeting of RESOLAN for Latin America (LATSOLAN) organized on 1-3 March 2018 • The launch of other RESOLANs is undergoing Start intensive communication between RESOLAN Chairs and GLOSOLAN Chair and Co-Chair. Executed in Asia (SEALNET Chair: Mr. Jamyang, Bhutan) and Latin America (LATSOLAN Chair: ….)

Launch of GLOSOLAN: 1-2 November 2017 28 Roadmap and main decisions: Action Status The Working Group for GLOSOLAN should prepare a Concept Note for a first ring test with guidance from WEPAL (explore possibility of Letter of Agreement) to present to the GSP Plenary Assembly in May 2018 • The GSP Secretariat is talking to WEPAL to confirm their involvement in implementing the ring test globally • WEPAL is drafting a planning document on the ring test to present to the GLOSOLAN Working Group and the GSP Plenary Assembly for approval • The proposal to have a standard process on soil sample exchange under GLOSOLAN in the form of a resolution is under preparation. The proposal will be presented to the 6th GSP Plenary Assembly
  28. 28. Launch of GLOSOLAN: 1-2 November 2017 29 Roadmap and main decisions: Action Status Compile a document for GSP Plenary Assembly. GLOSOLAN Chair to present this report at the 6th Plenary Assembly in June 2018, especially advocating for financial resources. Pending. Deadline: May 2018 Prepare a Concept Note for a best practice manual between June and October 2018 Undergoing: first version of the Table of Content ready to be presented to the GLOSOLAN Working Group Develop an agenda for a second meeting with an operational focus in October/November 2018. Undergoing: inputs for discussion at the next meeting are being collected
