What can Retailers learn from the Wizard of Oz Part 1

It doesn't take an expert to notice that Retail is going through a transformation. The speed of technological advances and a hard-hitting recession have been the catalyst for a deep rooted shift in the psyche of our customers. We find ourselves in an environment where principles we previously held dear are not pulling their weight as we see bricks and mortar suffer from decreasing footfall and sales.

In reaction to these difficult times we have seen big retailers step up their retail engineering reducing their costs to protect their bottom line. But is this the right action to take for the future sustainability of your business?

I find myself asking(rather strangely), "What would Dorothy do?!" How does a young girl from Kansas navigate her way in an environment she doesnt recognise with inhabitants she doesn't understand?

The slide show below explores what Retailers could learn from Dorothy and the Wizard of Oz story...
