  2. 2. First-Year Orientation<br /> Assisted in the planning and execution of events<br />
  3. 3. Passport Program<br /> Currently 32 participating local businesses<br /> Additional businesses will be joining for Spring 2010<br />
  4. 4. Reaching Students<br /> Created new, user friendly Website<br />Purchased easy to remember domain name<br />On Social Networking sites<br />
  5. 5. Senate Snippets<br /> Working with the Etownian, Elizabethtown College’s student run weekly newspaper, to disseminate important points to students<br /> Heard great response from students about this weekly column<br />
  6. 6. Chirp Chat<br /> Special Campus announcements placed on Senate’s website<br />Allows for students to comment on each article and offer <br /> feedback<br />
  7. 7. Hearing Student Concerns<br />Tuition:<br />Working with Senior Staff to disseminate breakdown of <br /> tuition dollars to the student body<br />Dining Services:<br />Working to address concerns about stock in the Jay’s Nest<br />Student requested paper towels in the restrooms; were <br /> installed after request by President Metcalf<br />Campus Security:<br />Worked with Security & Residence Life to address parking <br /> issues around campus<br />Addition of new Residential Student Parking by Myer has led to <br /> increase foot traffic on Cedar Street; Crosswalk to be installed <br /> as a result of student concern<br />

Hearing Student Concerns<br /> Facilities:<br />Outdoor campus lighting: As a result of a concern, <br /> additional fixtures installed in front of Zug<br />During E-coli outbreak, all water fountains were disabled; <br /> worked with Facilities to reinstate these fixtures across campus<br />Helped to publicize details of the Academic Quad construction <br /> in conjunction with the Office of Marketing & Communications<br /> Students were concerned about new showerheads in residence <br /> halls; Facilities responded by educating students about “Going <br /> Green Initiatives” in an effort to reduce our carbon footprint<br /> Over concerns of H1N1, worked to increase hand sanitizer <br /> stations across campus<br />

Hearing Student Concerns<br /> Off Campus:<br />Heard concerns about students going off campus during the <br /> weekends<br />Worked closely with the Director of Public Affairs in addressing <br /> concerns from the community<br />Held focus groups surrounding the topic of being off campus<br />Served as a mediator for students to speak directly with the <br /> Elizabethtown Borough Chief of Police and the PA Liquor <br /> Control Agency<br />A plan of action is currently being drafted; a formal <br /> presentation of the plan will take place in January<br />

Hearing Student Concerns<br /> Student Health Model:<br />Engaged in a discussion with the Dean of Students and Director <br /> of Campus Health about the proposed changes last year<br />Worked this semester on concerns from students as they utilized <br /> the new services<br />Helped to disseminate information via Chirp Chat and Senate <br /> website<br />Information and Technology Services:<br />Voiced student and student group concerns over the Print Quota<br />Will be working to inform students about the possible changes <br /> or full implementation in the Spring semester<br />

Hearing Student Concerns<br /> Body Shop Equipment:<br />Worked with the Dean of Students on evaluating and pursuing <br /> new equipment<br /> Helped to showcase the new equipment to the student body<br />Diversity Plan:<br />Participated as a focus group during the research phase for the <br /> Diversity Task Force<br />Reviewed the Diversity Plan and examined how it would effect <br /> students on campus<br />Engaged students in institutional initiatives by being an outlet <br /> for their feedback of the Plan<br />President Metcalf was interviewed by local media about the <br /> plan<br />

Hearing Student Concerns<br /> Campus Connections:<br />Students unhappy about the change from Campus News<br />Formed a focus group to work with the Assistant Director of <br /> Communications on changing the system so students will read it<br />Some changes have been seen already; more will be <br /> addressed over Winter Break<br />Academic Involvement:<br />Held a small gathering of professors and Senate Members to <br /> brainstorm ways for Senate to work closer with academics<br />More to come in the Spring semester<br />

Hearing Student Concerns<br /> School Spirit:<br />Heard concerns about students being unhappy with E-town spirit<br />Senators on the Athletics Committee have voiced these concerns <br /> and are working with the Athletics Director to address them in <br /> the coming semester<br />Club Council:<br />Student groups wanted more interaction with the Elizabethtown <br /> community<br />Held “Trick or Treat 2009” in October to <br /> connect students with area families<br />Over 300 individuals attended and <br /> 20 student groups participated<br />

Hearing Student Concerns<br /> Student Groups:<br />All club constitutions on the Senate website for easy accessibliity<br />Provided $24,922.97 to student groups this semester<br />Service Projects:<br />Volunteered for Into the Streets at the Elizabethtown <br /> playground<br />Books for Africa program <br />Adopt an Angel Christmas gift drive<br />Organized “One Elle of a Night” to raise money for the Elle <br /> Foundation<br />Legislation:<br />Passed legislation for Senate Members to hold themselves more <br /> accountable<br />
  15. 15. Hearing Student Concerns<br /> Traditions Committee:<br />Planned and executed another successful event<br />Over 300 students and community members attended<br />
  16. 16. Looking Forward<br />Hold monthly Student Concerns table to listen to students<br />Executive Cabinet has dinner in the Marketplace to eat and interact <br /> with students<br />
