Chamber Spotlight Speech by Jacki Rose – presented on 9/20/05Have you ever given a presentation where afterwards someone came up to you and said,“That was fabulous!”?Who here thinks public speaking is fun? Who here avoids public speaking at all costs?The number one fear among us today is the fear of public speaking. Death is number 2.Jerry Seinfeld says: that means at a funeral the average person would rather be in thecasket than give the eulogy.The ironic thing is that public speaking is one of the most important skills necessary tosucceed in business.I once saw a woman talk about her business. She was so nervous she stumbled throughher notes and shook so much it looked as if she was in the middle of an earthquake. Sheappeared as if she had no idea of what she was talking about. When in fact, she knewexactly what she was talking about and was an expert in her field. She just had badpresentation skills.Bad presentation skills produce bad presentations which in turn produce bad results.If you want your presentations to produce great results, you need to have greatpresentation skills.I wish I had time to let you know what makes a great presentation, but I only have 3minutes and half of them are gone.
