2. BOOK SUMMUARY
The case of The east river tells the story of a group of 5 friends, who by chance found
themselves in front of the lake called midtown, which was completely polluted with oil, dead fish
and work materials, such as gloves with the acronym BB, so from the famous company
Brooklyn & Bridge and bottles of oil with the company acronym Shining Stars.
After the friends observed these details, they realized that two large companies were possibly
involved in this event, they soon decided to separate into 2 groups to investigate the different
companies about the event.
The first group decided to go to the Shining Stars company, using the excuse that they were
doing a school project to talk directly to the director of the place, but as soon as they started
asking questions they were rejected by the director who soon sent them away.
The second group went to Brooklyn & Brigde but they saw Mrs Lawrence at the entrance, who
had a butler emptying her trunk, but they soon spotted a pair of gloves from Brooklyn & Bridge,
the friends surreptitiously took photos and went to investigate.
When they met again, they soon talked about what happened during their investigations, so
the second group showed them the photos of the trunk with the pair of gloves, which suddenly
appeared in the mouth of one of their friends' dogs, with further investigation they discovered a
ring with the acronyms Phl and the Shining stars logo, therefore, the company is going to seek
With the search for investigations with the director of the place, they found the owner of the
ring, Peter Harold Laney, the man who let waste pollute the midtown lake, thus taking the
necessary measures, such as firing him and reporting him.
With this major investigation, the group of friends received medals from the city's mayor.
3. RELEVANCE AND CONNECTION OF THE BOOK
Pollution is a very important subject to talk about,
as it is present in our lives in various ways, such as
noise, visual and environmental pollution.

The book shows the importance of the teenagers'
