  2. 2. CRITERIA FOR COLLABORATION TOOLS Desired Features  Adaptability  Audio & Video Conferencing capabilities  Automatic Updates  Effortless collaboration  Security & Privacy  Storage Capabilities  Platform, Pricing, and Availability  User Friendliness
  3. 3. COLLABORATION TOOLS CRITERIA EXPLAINED Mission Statement for Collaboration Tools: The group’s needs and expectations in order to exchange ideas, work efficiently, and productively require certain features present in the tools used to collaborate. The following features are necessary collaborating tools: adaptability, audio and video conferencing capabilities, automatic updates, effortless collaboration, security & privacy, storage capabilities, platform, pricing, and availability, user friendliness. These features allow the group to effectively collaborate remotely, exchange ideas in real- time, and are convenient. Concerns: Our main concern is the availability of most of these features in many platforms the group decides to use. For instance audio and video conferencing might be present in Skype but not in Facebook chat. Therefore, we have decided to incorporate one or more platforms in aiding the groups needs and expectations to better collaborate. Market Leaders: From the groups research we have concluded that the top five market leaders which satisfy the groups tools used to better collaborate are the following: I. Google Drive IV. Facebook (Facebook Groups) II. Skype V. Existing Major E-mail services. III. Dropbox
  4. 4. • Lack of global presence/knowledge. • Lack of video conferencing/face chat. • Lack of data privacy. • Automatic Updates; i.e. instant notifications via mobile. • Effortless collaboration. • User friendly. GOOGLE DRIVE Pros Cons
  5. 5. • Potential lack of data security. • Audio & Video Conferencing. • Non-ability to back up; i.e. no Facebook cloud system in place. • Automatic updates; i.e. real-time group interaction. • Effortless collaboration. • User friendly. FACEBOOK GROUPS Pros Cons
  6. 6. • Both caller and receiver have to be available to make a video or audio call. • Standalone application v. browser- based application. • Inability to multitask; i.e. make a call to someone while being able to edit a file at the same time. • Audio & Video Conferencing. • Adaptability. • User friendly; i.e. easy and inexpensive to make a call to continental U.S., competitive international subscription packages. SKYPE Pros Cons
  7. 7. • Not commonly used. • Serves only as file-sharing, not as a means to communicate or edit. • Needs to be downloaded and installed in order to be used. • Easily accessible files from Dropbox, as long as the file remains on the Dropbox cloud system. • After installation, Dropbox works seamlessly with the users needs. • Safe file storage; i.e. encrypted files. DROPBOX Pros Cons
  8. 8. • Need internet connection to access and work. • Some, not all electronic mail has audio and video conferencing capabilities. • Security and privacy concerns with some electronic mail services, i.e. Google. • Widely used, free of charge, and effortless. • Great storage capabilities and growing everyday. • User-friendly and mobile.
