Initial Land Use and Baseline Scenario
• Forestland 300 ha of Tropical Mountain
systems natural vegetation, tree age range
greater then 20 years, removal rate of 25
ha/year.
• Grassland 270 ha moderately degraded
grassland that is unimproved.
• Cropland 190 ha Maize/Sorghum/Millet
intercropped with legumes. Fully tilled with 5
kg/ha of Nitrogen applied. Residue is
collected.
Project Scenario
• Forestland 550 ha of Tropical Mountain systems
natural vegetation, tree age range greater then
20 years, removal rate of 0 ha/year.
• Grassland to Reforestation 270 ha - Pinus ssp.
100 ha, Tropical mountain systems plantation-
other 100 ha and Eucalptus spp. 70 ha.
• Cropland Introduced Agroforestry- Avocado and
Banana with cereal legume 190 ha.
Maize/Sorghum/Millet intercropped with
legumes. Reduced tillage with 50 kg/ha of
Nitrogen applied to Maize. Livestock are
introduced and crop residue is grazed.
Baseline
• 300 ha of Forestland
• 25 ha/yr area cleared
• 270 ha of Grassland
• Moderately degraded
• 190 ha Annual Crops
• Maize/Sorghum/Millet
intercropped with legume
• 5 kg/ha of Nitrogen added
to Maize

Fully tilled with 5 kg/ha of Nitrogen applied. Residue is collected.

Project Scenario • Forestland 550 ha of Tropical Mountain systems natural vegetation, tree age range greater then 20 years, removal rate of 0 ha/year. • Grassland to Reforestation 270 ha - Pinus ssp. 100 ha, Tropical mountain systems plantation- other 100 ha and Eucalptus spp. 70 ha. • Cropland Introduced Agroforestry- Avocado and Banana with cereal legume 190 ha. Maize/Sorghum/Millet intercropped with legumes. Reduced tillage with 50 kg/ha of Nitrogen applied to Maize. Livestock are introduced and crop residue is grazed.
