A LAW TO MAKE PROVISION FOR THE CHANGE OF OFFICIAL LOGO OF EKITI STATE GOVERNMENT AND OTHER MATTERS CONNECTED THEREWITH NO. 2 OF 2011 EKITI STATE OF NIGERIAWHEREAS, Ekiti State Government created a logo which was hitherto in use andaffecting the official status and documents of Ekiti State.AND WHEREAS, Ekiti State Government, convinced of a need for a new identityreflective of her historical, socio-cultural and geographical peculiarities, hasdecided to fashion for herself a new set of logos.ENACTED by the House of Assembly Ekiti StateAs follows: Change and substitution of the former official logo1. The new set of official logos of the State Government set out in the second schedule to this law shall be substituted for the former official logo of the State Government set out in the first schedule to this law.
  4. 4. New Official Logos2. The new set of official logos in the second schedule to this law shall from the commencement of this law constitute the official logos of the State Government. Government Business3. All State Government establishments, institutions, agencies and ministries shall from the commencement of this law transact business with the new official logos in the second schedule to this law. Status and offices depicting the new official logo4. The new official logos shall depict the following status and offices.1. Ekiti State, Nigeria2. Government of Ekiti State, Nigeria3. Deputy Governor of Ekiti State, Nigeria4. Seal of the Governor of Ekiti State, Nigeria.
  5. 5. Official Documents, Insignia, Signatures and Seals5. The official documents, insignia, signatures and seals of the State Government shall carry the new official logos as appropriate. Official Publication and Gazette6. The Commissioner for information shall ensure official publication and gazette of the new logos. Offences and Penalty7. (1) No person, except officials of the State Government shall use or append or permit to be used or appended to any document purporting to be official document of the State, any of the official logos in the second schedule to this law or imitation thereof without a formal written authorization from the governor. (2) Any person who breaches Section 7(1) of this Law commits an offence and shall be liable upon conviction to imprisonment for five years or a fine of five hundred thousand naira or both.
  6. 6. Power of Delegation 8. The Governor may from time to time delegate the authorization referred to in section 7(1) of this law as he deems fit. Definitions9. In this law, unless the context provides otherwise:‘Document’ include books, maps, plans, drawings, photographs, also includes andany matter expressed or described upon any substance by means of letters,figures or marks or by more than one of these means, intended to be used orwhich may be used for the purpose of recording that matter.‘Governor’ means the Governor of Ekiti State.‘State’ means Ekiti State of Nigeria. Citation10. This law shall be cited as Ekiti State Government Official LogoLaw, 2011.
